I Wonder
JD Clark Jun 2017
If you're my means to an end
Or if you're the end my love
Rushes to
Clouds could number
More than nine around you
But you can also
Just be breathing
And have your headphones on

It's not like it matters anyway
Everyone ends up
Alone
In the end

Three a.m. always seemed like a benchmark
But for her it's just another cup of bitter coffee that I'll never drink
Conversations come so easy
Too easy to matter for both parties involved
A good time wrapped in greasy pizza, frozen yogurt picture frames,
And a movie on a faux-date afternoon
The princesses' hair went from blonde to brown
Eyes the same shade of cornflower blue
Her hands covering a sand glass book cover as it was ticking down to goodbye
Saying the wrong things at the wrong times
Because right can't ever meet left in the center
Because walking with two left feet only leads to falling in the puddle he's helping her avoid
But she laughed even though the caffeine had worn off
She said she cared in a recording
And that secret kept the flame alive
Only for him to ***** it out
Because some I Love You's don't get past the front door
Never mind getting moved to the guest room
