Moments of Impact
Aaron Mar 2019
There’s just that time
You’d never forget
How an event changed life for you,
How it decided who you are.

For me, it can be a person
Who you might’ve met at the cafe
or a dude who waved at you
somewhere
Or just maybe someone you see outside school.

You’ll never know
What impact they’d have in you,
and you’d have in them.
So what gives? I don’t know.

They could be someone
who’d give your big break,
or they could be someone
who’d you write your songs for

As you go on with life along with them
You never realized your thoughts
always matched and clicked
without forcing the issue

That’s when they become important,
a necessity,
Someone who you want with you
Something that figures you out

And when you lose them
You’re gonna feel like,
Singing will never be the same.
Guess what. Those are your
moments of impact

What if God?
Aaron Mar 2019
What if God
Was just a dude
Sitting in front of the church
As the pastor preached his words?

What if God
Is just chewing a gum
While you close your eyes
And send your prayers?

What if God
Was a hipster who loved jazz
And someone everybody loved
To hang out with

What if we could just
See god?
Maybe life would be a lot easier,
Or maybe more confusing

What if God was
Something you could hug?
Maybe I’d run to him
And tell everything I think you won’t get

Maybe I’d tell him
How exhausted I am of this world
And it’s norms
Maybe I’d stay with him while it lasts
Or
Maybe I’d ask to go with him
Telling him it won’t hurt
If I would go with him
A bit earlier than my deadline he set.

A tree in a cave
Aaron Feb 2019
You just realize,
That you continue to live without them
You finally see,
That you were lying to yourself

Telling that you won’t last a day
Without them
In front of your cold coffee

Guess what,
After several days, turning into weeks
Then into months
You just continue to live

Just the old you
Nothing new
Just plain and simple
Without them
Aaron Feb 2019
In the long wait for you
I’ll patiently sit and write to you
Grasping the sand with my feet
Hoping the next forenoon,
Is the last
I’ll spend without you

I’ll be the one,
Waiting for you to come home,
And finally be the one
who makes your day,
And give you the love,
That will never make you feel
Lonely.

I’ll be the one,
Who’ll be loving you
For being yourself,
Who’ll be happy with you,
For making my heart melt

I’ll be the one,
To take care of you.
Who’ll be there in adversity
and at times you find it hard
Just to be yourself
And say, it’s gonna be alright

I’ll be the one
Who you can call
Your Safe Place
Because when we’re
Side by side
We both know
That we found
A new home
We can call
Our favorite shore

Iron Will of the Glut Wits
Aaron Feb 2019
We are often mistaken
Of what’s truly powerful
Of what really can posses us
It’s not God,
It isn’t a united nation,
Not these elected beasts,
Not even those men
who holds the nuclear codes.
We can’t feel
What we can’t see
But we can feel
What it will make us see
Beneath that cranium of yours
Is something we forget
That can control
and can destroy you
If it is left unnoticed.
But maybe I like to
Keep it that way
It makes me feel,
Light, and easy
It does all the decisions,
Judgement,
Opinions,
And conclusions.
But the power
It spills out
After letting it out
Like a caged lion
Will burn you,
Your dreams,
Your whole life.

Writing Under the Stars
Aaron Feb 2019
I got a lot on my mind lately
All of the things on the line
Not even numbers that count to nine
Can solve all of life’s shimmy

Maybe thinking and writing,
on a phone how it feels
Then telling and sharing,
to a perceptive human heals

But maybe help wouldn’t arrive after all
Because the help we need is within us
Pulling out every inch of pain and grief
Hoping, it’s all gone in the fall

Well, who knows what will and won’t?
Stars won’t show with light
As they twinkle best in pitch black
That’s why mortals who shine bright
Glows in the presence of absence

Aaron Jan 2019
When I was a child
I was told I will be anything
But now that I’m in the wild
I realized you can’t have dreams in a blink

I’ll do this and that
I’ll know all about the hows and what
But nothing drives me to go and win
Like a race car without an engine

It’s important to say how you feel
So help can arrive from people who are real
But we all know it can’t really help him
That’s why some of us write to scream

The future is so unsure with you
It has no idea of what it will bake
It can’t find even a single clue
Maybe we wait, or maybe we just break
It’s a little distinctive, so you might not quite really get the point at some lines

Speak Easy
Aaron Jan 2019
How do I start this piece?
Why do I even think of how to?
Would they leave if I had a line to miss?
Why do I even try to make it rhyme?

Everything we have to say
Is a thing we have to think of
Everyone in this society
Is not one to perceive or get the drift of

Let’s not think much of what we speak
Go with the flow before you run out of time
Never mind of what they opine
Just speak of what you think

But why should we care?
Maybe because we want someone
Someone who’d take us as their pair
And be our alter ego or simply just someone.

Remember to Forget
Aaron Jan 2019
Remember that look I had
When I said all those stories?
That look I had
When I trusted you at times

Remember that look I had
When I was the happiest when I met you?
That look I had
When I realized I wanted to keep you

Remember that look I had
When I was anxious of what I was supposed to say?
That look I had
When I had no idea if you’d even stay

Remember that look I had
When the love I had to give was still a ton?
I bet you wouldn’t have anything to remember of that
Because I never knew how it was to release your heart into someone

All I remember is a dream I had
That one day when you look at my hand
And stare at my eyes and soul
Is I had nothing to remember for myself at all.

Geniuses
Aaron Jul 2018
Great Minds are all over this universe
Oftentimes paired with a highbrow person
who generates a staggering innovation

They say great minds think alike
but what even these great minds can't see
is that it's not always the novelty
that proves brilliance of an intellect

To be savvy of all the all abouts of this universe
is a thing that could never fail to amaze anyone,
but to be happy with such small reason
is a maneuver not everyone can make

Because people who find joy
with the small things that life gives?
They are the true geniuses
