…And I Saw Them
I saw them
In ******* strewn streets
In crowded market places
In sun-scorched dusty suburbs
Sandwiched between deserted cathedrals and noisy taverns
In estates awash in pale street lights
Lazing the warm evenings away…idling the twilights- I saw them
In every place, in every way
Young…confident…brash…full of health and life
Laughing…hugging…caressing…shoving in mock duels
Atavistic posturing for territorial rights
I saw the lads…strong as ox…potent as desert stallion
Panting beneath the affected poise
I saw them
In tight t-shirts…and hugging jeans…and glittering bling…and fake designer apparels
Posturing, absorbed in the arrogance of youth
Cooing…humming…whistling…smirking their lips in unabashed desire
In dark places…deserted street corners
Whispering sweet nothings…words thick with lust
Voice rendered incoherent by dread of rejection
Teasing
Indulging the idealism of youth
Old age and death and life after a mirage eons afar
I saw the damsels too
Lash as verdant fields of vine ready for picking
Enticing as red wine swirling provocatively…daring
I saw them
Bosoms ***** as deadly amorous arsenal
And bottoms sculptured in wondrous perfection
Soft and mellow…promises beyond the Arabian nights
I saw them unabashedly smooching
Their sweet breath sensual… inebriating…arousing the senses
Giggling…batting long eye lashes seductively…sashaying curvaceous hips
I saw them
Contemplating the lads askance
Sizing…flirting…sighing…fidgeting…pushing…pulling…chiding halfheartedly
I saw them
Nubile…skin smooth as silk…. soft as a baby’s bottom
I saw them in their trendy handbags and shoes with heels stories high
And they were not afraid nor offended…but impatient they were
Wanting…hoping…wishing…wondering…unsure
And they were loving the attention…resenting the lack of tact…longing for chivalry…
I saw it in their eyes…in their husky whispers…in their shrill laughter…in their heaving bosoms
I saw the uncertainty…the feminine frustration…the shimmering of innocence…the subliminal longing for ****** healing…the cautious curiosity of the fair ***
And I saw the older folk
In bewildered silence they watched
And they grumbled…and they said nothing…and they prayed- pleaded with the heavens for sanity
The fathers were angry with their daughters…and they were furtively proud of their sons
And mothers were awry of history a repeat
A past of marred with heartbreaks…and bitter tears… and dearth of innocence…and a myriad broken roses…and ******* unplanned
I saw them all
The young and the old
And the old were sad…and grieved
And the young were unhappy…but they knew not..
