Your king
Ian spaeth Apr 2019
You make me feel like a king when I'm not part of the kingdom

For I am just a beggar eagerly fighting for you time

Though I may be exiled from the kingdom of love I will patiently wait hoping to one day treat you like the queen you are

Lucky

Smoke flails from the end of the his cigarette as majestically as his white flag of failure

Pondering the impossible possibilites

In between falsehood and hysteria he began to paint beautiful imagery of who they could be

Knowing full well he isn't enough

Moving on

The fire is gone but in its place is a pile of embers radiating a passionate heat more intense than the flames that once pertained them.

I wish
Ian spaeth Apr 2023
I tell ya, I tell ya
I must be in love
when I think of those eyes so bright

The voice of an angel
so soft and strong
I hear it when it's late at night

I lay in my bed
think of a song
and envision I'm dancing with you

I tell ya, I tell ya
I must be in love
I just wish that you loved me too.

Act and pretend

reverence

He knew it was in vain but he could not help himself

He chose to crash and burn

To acknowledge the end is harder than to act and pretend

Holding back tears he says goodbye to his best friend.

Do you know you?
Ian spaeth Apr 2019
You know what's fascinating?
Perhaps I'm procrastinating
But I've been here for 26 years
and every day I learn something new
Specifically about myself
How can I not know who I am?
I feel like I do but when I learn something new I reflect on a past no so distant
And I realize there's things I've been missing
Seems strange to think that I haven't met me at least not completely
I don't know if my brain just deceived me
Or if I've changed completely

Nonetheless
Ian spaeth Apr 2019
If I had a moment I'd make a million
Stuck in your eyes
Enticed by a mind so brilliant
Little do they know of my sorrow
With pain felt by none on time that is borrowed
I press my pen to the page and shred it to pieces
Over again till I am left speechless
I focus on her and she appears
Only to confirm all of my fears
She looks in my soul
My eye sheads a tear
It's all in my head
She'll never be here

Premonition
Ian spaeth Apr 2019
You may not think you're perfect
But perfection's all that's shown
Racing to the top
Soon you'll reach the throne
I wish you saw what I see
Because I've always known
You've got what it takes
To make this world your own

I believe you bless us all
With your grace and strength
You're the friend to whom I stress
How high of you I think

"It's nice to finally meet you"
~By Ian Spaeth~

It's nice to finally meet, I've heard a lot about you.

I've heard how hard you are on yourself even though you do your best.

I've heard you find yourself ugly even though you look beautiful.

I've heard you think you're dumb even though you certainly aren't.

I've heard that you fear being alone forever even though you have your whole life ahead of you.

It really is nice to meet you, I hear many good things.

I hear you like being helpful even though you say you're useless.

I hear you are passionate even though you call yourself bland.

I hear you have wonderful friends and family but you feel unloved.

I've heard a lot about you.

What I hear and what I see is they were right and you were wrong.

With that said, its nice to finally meet you Ian.
