DENAIL IN SUCH A MAGNITUDE FORMS A BODY
A BODY OF WATER
AN OCEAN
A PRESSURE
SO CALM, YET IT HAS THE POWER TO CRUSH YOU ALIVE
A PRESSURE
SO REAL THAT IT CONSUMES YOUR MIND
ALL CONTRADICTIONS HAVE A DEEPER MEANING
THINK ABOUT IT
A GIRL THAT IS SCREAING AT YOU
WITH OUT EVEN SAYING A WORD
AN ODORLESS FIELD
THAT HAS THE STRONGEST SCENT
A BLINDNESS
THAT WITNESSES THE MOST VIVID COLORS
WHAT YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND YOU DENY
REVERTING YOUR EYES FROM SANITY
WANTING SO BADLY TO BE IN A PERFECT WORLD
THAT YOU TRAP YOUR OWN SELF WITH IN THE IRRATINOALITY OF YOUR IMAGINATION
THE MORE KNOWLEDGE YOU GAIN THE MORE IGNORANT YOU BECOME
FOR KNOWLEDGE IS POWERLESS
WITHOUT THE ACEPTANCE OF TURTH
YOU TRY TO EXPERIENCE THE WARMTH OF JOY WITH A COLD HEART
EXPECTING TO GIVE LOVE IN RETURN FOR MONEY OR WORK
AND EVENTUALLY
YOU FIND YOUR BODY MOVING ON ITS OWN
IT MAKES A LEAP
LEAD ON BY DEPAIR
EXPOSING YOU TO THE CRUSHING SEA OF DENIAL.

Autumn
Domford Aug 2018
When I see it hit the ground my heart goes weak;
Cause my heart has pushed way beyond its peak;
My burning love gave my flowers truth and meaning;
Your actions are like the forever changing seasons;
Then came autumn;
My leaves once green you made into brown;
They fall;
Like the once abundant tears from my face;
They Fall;
like the rain that pours on my heart;
They fall;
my expectations are now the regrets that tear me apart;
My mind now knows only the negative;
Hear my thoughts, look what you made me do;
I hope your guilt comes alive to destroy you;
Every tear I shed, all the pain I felt;
I hope you feel it tenfold when karma is dealt;
And when you come to tell me about your pain;
I’ll give you your words back;
“It’ll be okay, doesn’t everyone carry their own cross at the end of the day?”;
I hope the pain echoes throughout your life;
And bites you in the *** when you want to be his wife;
Pride and all I put aside for you;
I hope he breaks your heart because yours is way overdue.

Depression's Perpective
Domford Aug 2018
I look in the mirror to find myself,
But instead see a 6 ft. lump of disappointment;
I have good intentions, but horrid actions are always dealt,
All the people who like me slowly start to resent;
Why can’t I ever get it right?
Why do I trap myself even deeper in rain?
I want to do the right thing with all my might
But it seems like I’m only good at bringing pain.

What am I to do when there nothing left,
I’m even a let down to the one I admire;
Ashamed of and shunned, like an untrained pet
Feeling like my soul is about to expire;
When trust is lost it cuts you deep,
I realize the hardships of the world;
I realize it's not just you but the friends you keep,
Understanding that life is more than money, education, and that special girl;

Questioning the deeper meaning of life,
Overbearing tragedies;
Questioning even being alive,
Locked in a phycological prison that doesn’t come with keys;
Always wanting the best, yet only getting a hint,
That I am nothing, but a walking disappointment.

Thoughts of Reality
Domford Aug 2018
I lie here in the dark, alone in silence
Nothing but raw emotional abundance
With thoughts vast like the voids of space
Looking in the mirror but seeing a different face
Slipping into danger because of my race
Why rush through life, when all you do is die faster
When strive for freedom just to act like the “*****”
I know my God, his grace and everlasting might
He gives all for us even when our pockets seem tight
Hide our blessings talking some “not for everyone’s sight”
Claiming to be religious but your really running from the light
See what they show is only what we want to see and hear
But in life thing are way different from they appear
Heartbroken so now you think you’re *** or gay
Literally crying because of how you lost your way
Believe in the system when it’s made to bring you to the ground
People in power that hype you up, take your money and tear you down
Lightweight problems we blow out off proportion
They owe you ten dollars so you force an extortion
Spoiled rotten so you can’t tell the struggle of succession
Got told “no” once you call it oppression
Want a little sympathy so now you in depression
Males going around with polygamous thoughts
Females call themselves ******* and display themselves as thots
Calling the Labeling as hoes and f-boys offensive
Can’t handle the truth so your lies grow extensive
Can’t see the error of your own actions
So you blame it on others in three ways of “attraction”
Light skins, Brown Skins, Dark skins, colors for reference
Small scale discrimination mistaken for preference
Flaws are a blessing they distinguish who we are
But we wanna be so “perfect” we treat our blessings like a scar
Can’t accept what’s real so you’re Running from reality
Hiding your emotions and corruption in your mentality
All for the game until the truth surface
Yes it’s harsh but that’s just the way it is
See you get mad when you can’t control the situations
You have to understand that the world goes deeper than rays and vibrations
And what funny is that a lie will carry you for miles
And the truth will carry you a lifetime yet when heard you go in denial
In life You’re not going to automatically know how to win
you have to question yourself and look deep within
you already know the answer but your clouded judgment and your past
Makes it seem as though the answer is beyond your grasp
but there are no clouds deep within you
because what’s inside is only raw emotions and truth
Factions, gangs, cults all different names
Similar practices it’s all the same
Weak mind, lost of faith, no patience so no waiting
So hopeless that you worship Satan
You can take a horse to the river but can’t make it drink
It’s never too late to change the way you think
Free front the shackles of evil your soul
Repent and you’ll make it to the city of gold
Get offended, cuss me, act how you feel
I’m not being cocky, just showing that you can’t handle what’s real.

Blurred Vision
Domford Aug 2018
Vision blurred needing glass fixed at angles just to see
Unfavorable looks of hate because you’re against society
Laughed at for being passionate, bullied for being kind
Socially corrupt because no one wants a friend with a free mind

On the street you get no job, cause all you do go outside
But When Educated they tell you your over qualified
And I assure life is more than the expensive **** we cop
But morals mean nothing until this crooked system is stopped

Showing emotion is classed as being weak
And there’s always hate coming through the words we speak
God desperately shows us there’s a greater goal to seek
Everyone’s so impatient God said “Blessed Are the Meek”
Why have 20/20 when this world is nothing but absurd
I guess it’s blessing to be born with your vision blurred.

The Pride of Color
Domford Aug 2018
In a crowd or any color,
may it be red, blue, or even white,
Black always stands out.
When aligned with any color,
may it be brown, yellow, or even gold,
Black always fits in.
When combined with any color,
may it be orange, grey, or even violet
Black always makes a significant change.
When polished it’s beautiful,
when dull it shows no signs of being so.
Black is powerful,
Take pride in your gift — the gift or melanin.

Chance
Domford Aug 2018
And like a fool I gave another chance
Knowing nothing will change as the time advance
I hate u with ever fiber in my being
I believe in love and believing is more than just seeing
But at the same time I have love for you
And I fighting myself thinking *** to do
I may not show it but I also have emotions
And the way I’m treated only creates a painful notion
You see you want a real *****, someone who’ll stay down
But look how u treat them when they finally come around
You treat me like a horse without a saddle
Honestly, I’m sick and tired of fighting this one-sided battle

Music
Domford Aug 2018
Music is my refuge, It digresses me from reality
I can crawl into the place between the notes and curl my back to loneliness
It’s tune overcomes deception
Stirring up emotions overridden by relation
My psyche drown in its lyrics that take control
Toggling with my memories, triggering what’s hidden in heart
Illuminating the inner my that I try so hard to hide
Highlighting my pain and insecurities that I suppress
The rhythm sets a stream for which my mind to escape
As the beat draws in my soul it protects from negativity
Shows me the dangers of society
Teaches me the flaws of this systematically carved world
And with this system the morality of music itself changes
It’s very existence seizes to coincide with its purpose
As so time goes on
In the 80’s jazz was the plug,
Then came to the 90’s hip hop and thugs, Then R & B to soothe the soul,
Now It's *** and X and rock and roll

Bond
Domford Aug 2018
This Bond..
this bond, is just another part of you
but in that moment I knew, it was your entire universe
you try to neglect it try to tear it from your life
I see you tear at it, but even more I see it tearing you apart
it hurts you, a pain that’s so heavy its unbearable
it eats at you
yet you hide it, still, your emotions leak down your sleeves
you think you can forget?
not on your life
in that moment, you realized it to
this bond, this is what you and I are living for
this bond has been engraved into our very existence
no one remembers us, but at the same time,
no one will ever forget about us
I'll never forget about us, no matter what happens
because you walk through this world as if half dead
and seeing you that way hurts
so I'll never forget, and I'll always continue
This bond...

Drugs
Domford Aug 2018
Black is my drug
Time to write out our lives and show them out pain
Just cause we are of color doesn’t mean we don’t know the game
It’s quite the opposite, in books we see how the white men lives
But we of color can tell that story from two perspectives
Life made out of struggle just cause of melanin
But only the strong get trials that means were natural born kings
We all know the sayings “Black is strength, Black don’t crack”
But how much of you really believe that?
That goes deeper than wrinkles in the skin
It’s the strength and prosperity that we pass to our Kim
It the fact that we know God and adore his name
We don’t need lust or drugs or even fame
What makes us different is more than color
We’re the only ones strong enough to convert pain to love and hope
And not turn to satan for hatred and dope
So the next time someone comments don’t shrug
Just turn to them, smile and say it proudly,
BLACK IS MY DRUG.

Truth
Domford Aug 2018
How to we find truth When we are living a lie?
They tell us the life is a trial that we can’t beat,
that if i cross is too to lift we can just drop it,
That society is not a rouse; truth is, Society is twisted.
I can’t tell you who you are or who you should be.
And I can’t tell you what to do or how to live.
What I can tell you is that it’s not over.
Obstacles are made to me overcame, just as trials are made for error.
Society is twisted.
What’s important is how expensive your clothes are and how much hoes you bag.
But what should be important isn’t the material, but something real.
Happiness, freedom, love that’s what should we should focus on.
We spend so much time focusing on how to tear other down then we forget how to build ourselves.
We’re so envious of others that we don’t see our own blessings. You smile is crooked, you hair is messy, you’re fat or you’re skinny.
Regardless you are still you. Everywhere you look you see a snake.
Why do I have to watch what I say around someone who supposed to me my friend?
What does being fake do for you?
What’s you gain? And relationships.. they are at rock bottom.
There are some good one for sure.
But most aren’t.
When you going in a new relationship it’s “new” for a reason.
You got hurt in the past, well so did they.
We bring out past into the relationship and our insecurities and then eventually lose the person that do you right.
****** be hoes then when the find the one they wanna settle with their reputation bites them.
Girls be dating all the thugs and guys who got money looks and cool stuff and turn always from the guys that have morals and brains.
I can’t blame people though cause It’s a society problem and I say again Society is twisted this is the real truth.

Wade in the water
Domford Aug 2018
Wade in the water
Be calm like the Waves
For the water cancels scent
And therefore protects the slaves
Oh youths, just listen
While the stars still glisten
The master is getting out of order
So Children, wade in the water
Woman trail across the stream
singing in harmony and burnt by the sun gleam
with heavy burdens and thoughts of their daughter
Children, wade in the water
Children hidden by the monotonous weeds
as their footprints crunch on dead leaves finding mischief as they please,
Too young for labor to innocent for slaughter
So children, please wade in the water
children, Follow the river, find peace along the path
Know your God and keep astray from wrath
The sun elevates and the shadows dance
Move in silence and don’t miss your chance
Be proud and love your brown skin
Wade In the water, a message to our kin
Freedom is the ultimate goal
The water chills your body but will never chill your soul.

Do you know?
Domford Aug 2018
Do you truly know how it feels?
Can't you see it?
my pain and anger
my joy and happiness
the one thing that try so hard to hide but cannot
my emotion
can't you feel them?
the tears that flood
my heart that grows cold
my voice that lacked life
aren't you worried?
for I am dying on the inside
and barely have the energy to survive on the outside
I try and try but it all in naught
do you know how it feels to be bullied by your own subconscious?
when both your mind and heart tell you that your trash
when your body is some numb that you just can’t even shield your ears anymore
do you know how it feels to watch yourself slip from reality?
to see the people you care for laugh as you slowly lose your mind
when insanity becomes justice and you start to question existence
do you know how it feels to wonder if relief is a myth?
to be in so much pain that it’s now all you can’t recognize
to no longer see the world as a mixture of emotions
but instead a rock filled with hurt
do you know how it feels to find excitement in the flood your blood?
to watch as your bodies messengers exit through your skin and feel relaxation
do you know how it feels to fully evaluate what living means?
to be told constantly that you have no purpose
that no one cared for a single fiber of your being
to be made into a tool for the sake of jokes and belittlement
to truly believe that the purpose of your life is your death
and so I again,
Do you truly know how it feels?

Colors
Domford Aug 2018
I am but an empty vessel
Used to store emotion
I am but a marker
With colors that change with mood
They were once such warm, vibrant color
A bright blue that was soothing
A deep orange that war courageous
Now all that I can muster is dull and broken
The once bright blue filled with soothing emotion
Now dark and cold, emitting only sadness and despair
My orange fades into yellow and becomes shame and cowardice
I Long for the day my color regains its life
See as time passes they only dies more
With every passing day I see another one
Another crime, another death, another act of racism
It hurts my soul, numbing the ability of my life force to reach my colors
Countless nights I stay up generating questions
How much cause can the world takes before it tears itself apart?
Or is it already being torn?
With each question I go deeper into this mislaid state
The longer I stay in this state the more my emotion fade
Until my color finally can be seeming through the prism of the electromagnetic spectrum
Until my emotions become transparent to the world
For I am but an empty vessel
Used to store emotion.

Red
Domford Aug 2018
Red
A heated red drips from my bed
It’s brings me a trill, oh how I love this red
What’s not to love?
The warmth, even the smell is a gift from above
Traveling from the wood or the ground like it’s flying
With each splash the scent of iron

A heated red drips from my bed
Calming me down as my anger is fed
As I watch it drips I question, “how can this be”
“There’s 7.6 billion people so why me?”
Leaving lines on my canvas
Got my praying like a mantis

A heated red drips from my bed
In total confusion I hold my head
Wishing I can disappear
To a world where society actually cares
About how what they do can affect another
Where a stranger is treated kindly and welcomed like a brother.

Hoping the future isn't something to fear
As, A heated red drips from my bed.

The Screams of Silence
Domford Aug 2018
While staring at the Moon, I release my sorrow
Thoughts race my mind, Tears travel my cheek
Questioning value, sitting still in the draft of the night
In complete silence, my tears screams loudly
It tells of a story, packed with tragedies
A boy with a Shattered mind, and a tragic past
This deep sorrow slowly dissolves
They dissipate as the tears splash against the gravel
And with this occurring, an empty shell is left
A boy, broken, sequestered from emotion,
A boy, broken, blindly staring at the moon.
