Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
You were just like a dream,
             Too short,
Too beautiful,
         Too good to be real.

And now I'm here, alone in this nightmare.
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
My tree of life is slowly dying
after I stood in your shadow for way too long
and the only water I got was toxic.
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
I guess, in the end,
you and I are nothing more than a memory.
Covered in dust.
            Left to be forgotten.
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
Your beauty reminds me of the song of the birds.
Your beauty left me empty with no words.
Your beauty reminds me of the bright daylight.
Like a shining star in my night.
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
What if second were stopped from ticking by,
and time was just a number,

If loves ones would never die,
Leaving me alone so somber.

If we could hold on to the happy moments,
and push the pain away.

Would this world be full of life and colour,
Instead of being grey?
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
When we met, I talked.
          When we fought, I yelled.
When we loved, I whispered.
But when you left, I remained silent.

He walked, she walked,
           They walked, he left
Gone, far way

To a place she could not go
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
She got lost in his forest,
        She could not escape.
Stuck in his mind,
       Strangled in his thoughts,

Wondering where the way out had gone.
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
Our mouths full of unspoken words.
Words I should have told you before you were gone.
Leaving me in this ocean of silence,
                  slowly drowning myself to death.
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
Silence is my favourite sound,
         Because if you listen carefully
You can hear everything
Emma Slootmans Feb 2018
Dark grey clouds appeared upon the sky.
As the raindrops started pouring down,
I knew it was time for goodbye.

Extinguishing the fire inside me
That used to burn so bright.
Fading out the passion
        And dimming all the light.

Nothing is left of me,
         My heart has gone cold.

That was my story that for once,
Needed to be told.
