Us.

Us.
Those who want peace crave the eye of the storm.
Where tranquility roams and time stands still.
Yet they're shielding their faces from the chaos that reigns.
Where disruption feasts on the fear they hide.
Yet they claw their way back to deafening silence that keeps them safe.
It may only be a moment.
But they crave it.
They desire it.
But it's not they.

It's we.

Anxiety
Alex Watson Feb 2020
The seductive smile of silence widens as she sews my mouth shut locking in her seeds of doubt.

Quiet now, she says.
Let them grow.

Overthinking
Alex Watson Feb 2020
Many months have gone by as I place myself on my throne
For in this world, I am Queen
The silence that cursed me has now become me.
The seeds that were once sewn have twisted its vines around my spine, tightening its grip to make me mimic what it wants others to see.
This forest is now my home.
It's deep undergrowth swallow my feet, with its mist binding my ankles.
There is no escape.
Acid rain covers my skin where tears once fell, burning scars into my cheeks.
The decaying branches shield all light from my relm, I long for the feel of sunlight or even the angelic touch of the moon. But alas, it never comes.
This is my fate now.

For him.
Alex Watson Feb 2020
The light brown shade around your iris match each freckle dotted on your nose
Making a guide across your skin from your infectious smile to the dimple encrusted into your cheek.
They trail to your arms which keep me safe from the 3am terror that haunts me at night, each crevice of your body matching to mine.
They end at your chest, which is a haven for my head after a day of mental turmoil, soothing the self doubt with your fingertips.
Your heart guards mine
From the day I took it from my chest and put it into your capable hands.
The antidote to any anxiety ridden words that spill from my mouth.
I want nothing more than to continue watching the rain kiss the ground and the sunrise burning the sky with you.
You are and always will be my home.

Moonlight
Alex Watson Feb 2020
I hold the glow for the creatures that roam the undergrowth.
I tease the weary travellers who wonder whether I can sustain life.
I am the ear to the lone wolf who sings sweet songs to his mate.
The holder of every star you have wished on
And cursed at because it didn't come true.
I paint the black sea with my white gold touch as the waves caress the sands beneath it.
I kiss the naked skin of young lovers who share stories of their childhood.
I am the nightlight to troubled souls resting their minds and eyes.
I show that no matter how dark the world seems; a guiding light will show you the way home.
