I stutter
Because I am screaming inside
I'm breathless
Cause there's nowhere to hide
I don't act upon voices
Countless times they lied
I can't function properly
I promise I tried.

When Dorothy was a child she started building a castle
with bricks of yellow and blue;
But how could she have known that someday soon
Each one will be broken in two.

The bricks consisted of ideas and thoughts,
colorful dreams, love, bit of fairy dust as well;
And as the construction was growing she made a decision:
“This will be my kingdom, dwell in it I shall.”

She felt happy in her sunny fortress
Dancing in the rain and sleeping on the clouds;
Until a strange figure harshly knocked on her door
Saying she must not live there anymore.

Lifeless grey eyes piercing through her soul
as she was offered a hand skinny and cold;
She heard a whisper which sent shivers down her spine:
“Come, you need to meet some friends of mine.”

At first she refused, always coming back to
Her Kingdom, which was now falling apart;
She tried to rebuild dreams that turned into nightmares
Failure continuing to deepen the hole in her heart.

She fell from clouds on a bed of nails she currently sleeps on
She barely has energy to breathe;
Locked up behind bars of her own mind
Ailing, lost bird unable to fly.

She still lives in her castle though not as happy
Bricks have been deprived of their bright colors
Her eyes have become the clouds from which rain is pouring
But she has forgotten how to dance, and there’s nobody to help her when she’s drowning.

Nowadays three figures never leave her side
They paint the lens through which she sees reality;
These three friends you may recognize since they go by names
Twisted Society, Depression and Anxiety.
A short story of growing up, but more so growing upside down.

Memories are not painful.
The fact that you can't make new ones is.

One day it will all make sense.
The sun, the trees,
And the morning breeze on a long summer day.
Every single thought running through your head
and all the words left unsaid will unravel.
Regrets will fade away,
Decisions will matter no more
and what you thought you fought for,
will laugh right at you.
Stop being silly, YOLO doesn't exist
because living means being free and honey,
You're anything but that.
Society shows you one path, your friends and family the other,
but what about the road your heart wanted you to discover.
Did you forget its beat
while drowning in expectations
of people who are not worthy of your humiliation
Wake up, please.
Don't wait, just go,
Run for those hills,
and once you get to the very edge
spread your wings.
And fly
Because that's what you were made for.

According to my father I am a bird
Or a plane
Perhaps Superman
I don't know
But he sure says I live in the clouds all day long.

My mom calls me Complicated Simplicity
Ingenuous youth following the erroneous direction
A perfection gone wrong.

My understanding brother accepts me fully
He really loves me I swear it's true
Well apart from the fact that he's convinced
The very essence of my being just doesn't belong.

My friends believe me to be a box of broken promises
Potential, talent and beauty well hidden
A girl who gave up before trying
Even though she knows she's very strong.

Now you may wonder who actually am I
I am still trying to figure it out
But it keeps getting harder and harder
In this evergrowing, judgemental throng.
