Boys Smell Bad
David Zavala Nov 2018
Be comforted
   alone with
       a piano. I want an
            independent book store.
here
      it should sound
                no longer weeks
           it's cute
to cut and the leaves
                           no David, it's
not and you can't, it's a bad painting, we're
serious thinkers, we're grown like papa Hemingway, and play guitar
with our girlfriend's fathers, a soft pretty flower of assorted colors.

Although he had a mustache and wore a dress
His phone on Culebra was breathless
I could kiss you
She turned to him.
He turned to her. We
laid in bed.
She laid in glasses. William Blake was a
dragon - grey & grey with a suit, deer waited by days,
again his long shoes untied, he had a brief case, complete
Zen.

BEADS ON THE WALL
David Zavala Nov 2018
the news was fresh like a vulture, our dogs walked along rough terrain

we were in public and happy, attractive before girls,

unabashed I smiled, or shook my head, and made my way past.

AGONY(ONE POEM)
David Zavala Nov 2018
Be alive!
Court is a leaf
John Lewis is a thought
A mother is ugly
Alive was a leaf.
In front of the Alamo
I don't work, yet we remained ugly.

My files approaching me
David Zavala Nov 2018
A nightmare
is the lights and poets.
they are in the cold, the
nurses and the televisions,
cautiously, know that the pens
on the table will illuminate the streets.
St. Vincent sees father time and truth
but the moon refuses to go.

Youth was before us

Daniel Ramerez
didn't do much today
he just sat and laid in his bed
read some books
sometimes he buys wine
other times he wakes at 5,

Poor Daniel Ramerez
Poor guy - poor soul.
