Induction
Christian Mar 30
How terrifying and exciting is it to change.
Entering my most uncertain season,
I can be sure of nothing yet also,
Everything.

I have no idea where I’ll be in six months,
Or a year.
Still, I know I’m ready.
Simultaneously thrilled and frightened,
But ready.

And if I fall through the cracks,
How sweet is it to know,
You’ll be there to catch me.
And even if you’re not,
How lucky am I to have myself.
I’m ready.

Spring’s Remedy
Christian Mar 23
Anxiety and stress,
compounding through the Winter months.
Weighing on my chest,
threatening to crack my soul’s delicate shell.
I take a walk.

Wild flowers blossom in patches,
reminisce of constellations dotting the night sky.
The trees transform from dull canvases into impossible to replicate master pieces.
Change stirring in the threads of nature.

In miracle fashion,
my woes melt away.
The permafrost upon my heart making way for a burst of growth in spirit.
A new appreciation for the minute details,
the rain no longer an inconvenience but a blessing.
The sweat dropped down my brow serving as a reflection,
my impurities cleansed by the Sun’s fiery persistence.

Spring is here,
accompanied by her remedial powers.

Little Yellow Flower
Christian Mar 20
Feet reclined near water's edge,
the warmth of the Sun,
coolness of the breeze,
Hmm...a little yellow flower.

Standing all alone,
so small,
so proud,
so beautiful.

For a moment I'm reminded of you,
I shall pluck it for your enjoyment!
But wait- maybe instead,
I should leave it alone.

Yes, I'll leave it where it be,
so I can return each day,
and have a pleasant reminder of you.

Perhaps I'll write about it,
maybe in a letter,
and send it to you,
immortalizing its brilliance,
the little yellow flower.

Yearning
Christian Mar 19
I long for you more than the ocean longs to embrace the mountains.

I gravitate towards your benevolence just as a meteor to the Earth,
burning so deeply on my way to you I emerge refined, cleansed.
A new being.

Lasting Memory
Christian Mar 12
If I could never see you again,
I'd gouge my own eyes,
so that your face should be the last thing I saw.

My hunger to live-
fueled by the desire to keep your memory burning throughout my mind.

Mother Nature II
Christian Mar 12
You're the answer to everything.
The universe's infinite complexity,
simplified by you.

Your deep mahogany hair,
holds the Earth in balance with the Stars.
The Milky Way,
a reflection of its illustrious waves.

Your dazzling smile,
gives the Sun permission to shine.
Its brilliance,
reaches even the most fathomless depths of Space.

Your flawless olive skin,
inspires the harshest of terrains to flourish.
Beauty manifest,
expanding across the Galaxy in every direction.

Your gentle voice,
commands the Cosmos with grace.
Sounds of honeyed laughter,
reverberate amongst Creation,
soothing every mind and soul.

Mother Nature
Christian Mar 3
If I were a tree,
my roots would tunnel towards you.
My branches,
stretching for just one touch.

If I were a flower,
my petals would blossom at the sound of your laughter.
My thorns,
removed by the tenderness of your voice.

If I were a river,
my stream would carve for you a way through mountains.
My water,
purified by your resilient spirit.

Be Still
Christian Feb 28
Silence
the purest form of communication

To utter no words
yet understand everything

A catalyst for blissful moments
and crushing realizations

If a picture is worth a thousand words
silence is an unrelenting symphony

Our fate in the hands of some conductor

My Heart to Yours
Christian Feb 23
When looking at you
and I fail to speak-
produce the perfect words-
know that it's not out of reluctance.

Instead    -     know,
the air in my lungs has fled.
My heart has begun clawing its way
through my chest, begging to feel your
blood fill its chambers. Goosebumps
wave across my skin as it yearns
for your touch. My eyes
well, your beauty
surreal.
I'm not sure where I got the inspiration, but I wanted to try my hand at creating an image within the words. I'm happy with how it turned out. :)

Silent Conversations
Christian Feb 15
A thousand conversations had with you.

None in which you took part.

Still- every word, every sentence, weighs heavy on my heart.

In the quiet of my room, we talk for hours on end

And every time, there's something different I wish I'd said.

But somehow in the midst of my retrospection,

The only thing that comes to mind is your beautiful complexion.

Your skin so perfect in every way despite any "imperfections".

Your hair, your smile, the way you make me laugh, stir something up inside.

Your every quality like an immaculate treasure set on earth for me to find.

Every time I see your face; I'm nothing short of stunned.

Beauty like yours a precious gift from God, truly one of one.

Now looking back, it's clear why you occupy my mind.

So, in my room, in conversation,

with you, my soul confined.

Desire
Christian Jan 27
Is it really that hard?

Is it too much?

I know I shouldn't ask.

But how can I not?

To yearn for something so badly,
yet asking for it relinquishes all want.

...to be loved.

I'm Scared
Christian Jan 26
I’m scared.
Scared of everything.
Waking up,
Going to sleep.
Falling in love,
Falling out of it.
Traveling the world,
Leaving my bed.

I’m scared.
Scared of everything.
To make new friends,
To miss out on connection.
Trying something new,
Leaving my comfort zone.
Risking it all,
Playing it safe.

I’m scared.
Scared of everything.
If everything is scary, nothing is?

Live
Christian Jan 23
If you focus on everything bad that could happen,
If you’re consistently worried about maybe,
You will always miss what is.
And by the time you realize,
If ever,
You sulk in the fact that it once was.

75 years if you’re lucky.
That’s all the time we have.
Once it’s gone,
That’s it.
In pouring rain,
You complained of getting wet,
When the opportunity to feel it’s touch,
And dance as if no one was watching was right there.
In flurries of snow,
You groaned of blistering cold,
When in piles of powder,
Angels awaited your embrace.

There’s no time to waste,
And in regret—
is no way to live.
Enjoy the heartbreak,
The sorrow in loss,
The feeling of failure.
For they serve as a lasting reminder,
Of the first kiss,
The many moments,
And your greatest achievements.
Pull your head from the sand and live.
Inspired by the overcoming of fear. Fear of letdown, failure, anything. Don't look back, you're not headed that way. The beauty of life is that you get to live it.
Christian Jan 20
It wasn’t love at first sight,
But—
Intrigue.
A visceral knowing,
Knowing that despite the uncertainty,
Despite the distance,
Despite all odds,
Our paths destined to converge.
Two streams,
Pouring into one basin,
A single destination,
A fountain of life.

Like a flower unfurling its soft petals,
You became known to me.
You became understood.
A lifetime together still not enough to quench my soul’s thirst for you.
Each day a mesmerizing impression,
A persistent reminder to the splendor that is you.

So no, it was not love at first sight,
But instead—
in every waking moment,
Each glance or unbroken stare,
Within each tender touch,
And quiet conversation,
You were loved.
Such an opportunity surely a gift from God.
Inspired by the beauty of getting to know someone.

Eternity with You
Christian Jan 20
My hands trace your skin,
miles last only seconds.
Bursting from each pore,
Intoxicating aromatics beckon.
A reckoning,
a realization.

Longing for completion,
I’m a traveler on the estuaries of your canvas
Each stroke an adhesion
With every breath,
a confession
Time ceases, you—
my obsession.

Our bodies sealed eternally,
An enthralling finale.
Inspired by a beautiful woman.

Growing Pains
Christian Jan 20
A heart in two places—
mangled amongst arrogance and grief
Yet itself knows not what it chases,
uncertainty driving a knife at the crease

How can pain exist where flowers grow
And beauty where turmoil trolls
Helpless to its advance,
selfishness seeks its new-sprung spoil

In the indefinite hour—
a sudden shift,
a soothing sound.
A seraphic melody fills each chamber,
Empathy emerges—
Satiating the depths of the heart
Saturated— it ignites.

Birthed anew,
every beat a thundering resonance,
a renewal of righteousness
Animosity decimated in the face of adoration.
The essence of self—
Carnality—
succumb to love’s absolute embrace
Inspired by my overcoming of selfish thoughts/behaviors so I could better understand someone.

Be My Rain
Christian Jan 11
Rain.
Fulfilling but consuming.
Each drop an enriching embrace,
Flooding the Earth with immense force and grace.

Grass.
Yearning to trace the stars,
Seeks to surpass its soil prison.
Rain—
its means to stardom.

Without rain,
Grass withers and fades.
Purposeless—
it drifts in the breeze.
Its dreams, to rest—laid.

Rain, the almighty redeemer.
Cascading into the crevasse—
A cause for rejoice.

Engulf me with your supple clutch
With each filament of my being, my soul, my spirit—
I plead—
Be my rain.
Inspired by the sound of rain on an otherwise silent night.

Untold Beauty
Christian Jan 11
Your presence renders me mute,
My thoughts—
awash with ecstasy.
My mouth,
forever pursuing the right words,
But they’ll never come.
Your beauty, indescribable by man.
But the Birds?
They speak of you every day.

Your eyes—
a reflection of the branches that harbor them
Your hair—
a fresh moss,
basking in beams of morning light.
Your skin—
smooth as river stone,
resilient to the current’s embrace
Your touch—
a gentle breeze,
a flower’s bloom.

But your smile…
The birds speak nothing of it
For even nature is eclipsed by its radiance
Assuredly, the Sun longs to match its brilliance—
And fails.
Inspired by a beautiful woman.
