I see in your eyes, unwavering attention
Is it the flash of astounded disbelief
Of breathing in the same sir as me
Of is it in mine that you see
The silence of true grief.
It's funny you think it's your lack of melanin
and not your lack of sustained rational thought
that makes you the master of all time
inconsiderate of the wars I have fought.
But dear friend,
No matter what my race, what my creed,
I am black, I am white
and every colour in between
For when I'll fly,
my wings will flicker so fast
that no colour of my skin
you will be able to see
You will be able to see.

I'll write milkshake poems to you
For you will be a delusion
For you, will be your expectation
And me, I will stay anonymous
For I don't have a fixed identity
I'm the movies I watch, the quotes I read
.
.
.
(But if you listen to my poetry and the stories I create, you might even know me I'm afraid)

Are you still there?

Hold on to the pink handkerchief dear friend
For as long as you can
For as long as you wish
For I'll walk beside you
For as long as you want
And not touch you
until you ask me to
And not leave you
Until you ask me to
When you ask me to
For I'm right here
Staring at my hands
Staring at your feet
I'm right here dear friend
Unless you ask me to leave
Will you still ask me to leave?
