I found peace in you
Made you my home
Yet when it was time to choose
Your heart was not my own
So now my house is abandoned
My hearth never bright
And when I call your name
It’s only in the dead of night
When I can no longer think
And I need some comfort
When I am weak and can’t escape
The loving labyrinth of my heart’s ******

The shadow of a God
It’s a powerful thing,
One that fixes and destroys,
That solves and hinders
That creates purpose
And shatters it in the same breath
And your relationship with him
Oh it’s even more complicated than that
So you’ll ignore it and continue
But doubt all the same.
If your acts are saving you
Or if they’ll make you fall from grace.

You explore her with trembling hands
and a terrified heart.
And when you kiss her skin,
it will taste of nothing but divinity.
But there will always be
that lingering thought in your head,
wondering and asking and never shutting up. Thinking about sanctity and temptation
and which one you’re really grasping at night
with her in your arms and her mouth on yours.

It’s a voice that you’ll ignore,
after all who else can boast
Of tasting heaven with the same act
that might doom them to hell.

No other you’ll think,
And oh how wrong you’ll be
The complicated relation between you
Narrowing your sights
But soon you’ll see

That the relationship between a god,
Who preaches of nothing but love
and their subject,
who’s only crime is that same act
is a dangerous one.

Yet there is another, so similar to yours
Another that same God had,
Just a couple millennia ago,
With another lawful subject,
A different species sure,
But just as cocky, acts just as damning

Oh how similar to Lucifer you’re becoming

Will you also be banished,
You wonder at meals,
Splitting bread and fish and wine
With that woman, so divine
Will your belief save you
Is that also just a lie
Like the one it carries in the middle
Between being and the f of falsehood

Yet even if she was dooming you to hell
It would still be better than a heaven
filled with everything but her
So you’ll stay by her side
And hope to the devil
He won’t punish you by taking her.

After all, you’ll hope,
He knows that same pain
And won’t make you suffer that way
Not like his own father did to him that day
When he fell to hell
With naughty but a memory of a warm embrace
And a pair of cold hands, frozen in the pit
After the only sin that was his to commit

I don’t know what to do,
cause I think I loved him
but I’m not sure it’s true
And now I stay up questioning my feelings
For the boy who I thought gave life meaning

And I don’t want to leave
But I think I might have to
Because this Christmas Eve
I’ve got two hearts in my chest, mine here again
So I’ll mourn him now, before I go and explain

I’ll scream ’til I need air
Tell him it’s me, truly it is,
That cross is mine to bear
I don’t want to leave, but I fear it’s for the best
Cause my love for him turned rotten like the rest

So I’ll gather my courage,
I know what I must do
There can’t be a marriage
Now don’t know what I feel, friendship or nothing
But it’s not the love I’m meant to have for him

I can’t break his heart
But keeping him kills mine
So I fear I must depart,
Because holding him rooted in the past
Is just not right when I feel nothing at last

You are my gardens apple
My fall from grace
But even Eden I’d leave
If I got you instead
