I pout
I sulk
At what you said
Then I look out the window
And my heart swells, because
When you say you love me,
I say I don’t believe you,
But you know,
And I know,
I love you too.
Dedicated to my dad

I am getting tired
Everyone wears me out
They flip my pages without a care in the world!
Oh, how I want to shout!

My cover is faded
My words are worn
My colors are black, and gray, and white
And most of my pages are torn

All the dog-eared pages are creasing
Some of my pages feel shoved
But even I have to admit,
That I am a book well loved.
The title doesn’t really fit, but whatever.

Fences are built to keep people out
But what if they could let people in?

Cars are built to get people where they need to go
But what if they could be weighing us down?

Signs are built to give people directions, or tell someone something
But what if they could only cause confusion?

People are meant to help and to love,
But sometimes, we do not do our job.

Sometimes things, people, directions,
Are not what they seem.

But you
Can rely
On me
