Miss Faded Dream
(from the Collection of Letters to Miss)
Here saying, “Hey,” Miss Summer Eclipse,
Where can I find your shadow?
You, Miss Winter Sunshine,
A whisper in the hurricane,
"Miss Barefooted Bear"
You tread where my tenderness hides.
Oh, you, Miss Cold Drop,
Of oasis water on my scorched heart.
Hello, Miss “Tell me more,”
Of my midnight soliloquy.
What perfect lightning,
Sparking flames in my ice-cold soul.
How did your day go,
Miss Parable, puzzle to my smart left brain?
Oh, what a tale I’ll tell
When I sink into my deathbed dream.
Miss Doves in Twilight,
When the beautiful sunset
Casts a shadow of emptiness in my room
I go to sleep too,
Oh, Miss Haunting My Dreams,
Waiting to mock my sober life come morning.
Good night, Miss Perfect Dress
For a wedding I shall never see.
Miss Dandelion
A cold sneeze from my lost pursuit.
What shall I call you?
Miss Little Bird,
Mocking me from the high tree.
There you are again
Miss “Dream About Me Again,”
You visited me last night,
With a clock with no hands.
You said, “Wait here.”
Time turned its face
And left me holding silence
Deeper than dreams allow.
Good morning, Miss Cinderella’s Shoe
For my bare-footed, wandering spirit.
Dear Miss, receive my letter,
From the carriage of a lost friar.
What words did I write there?
Perhaps the wind opened it,
And even the sky could not read.
Dear Miss Stop Trying
That silence you send me in a letter,
You, with a thousand versions of yourself,
Each hiding the next
Like secrets in bone.
Every smile repeats itself,
Before you vanish
Into mist I dare not follow.
Hello again, Miss “Here I Go Again,”
Taking my pain again,
In the silent howl of night,
Where cold mist rubs past my fictive form.
“Oh, Miss Always Chasing Me,”
How I long to ask you your secret.
Here I am once more,
Miss Faded Dream,
Saying “Hey,” beneath your eclipse
Where your shadows fall
Only where light once kissed.
Goodbye, Miss
“I Can’t Reach Your Side to Smell Your Presence,”
Oh Miss "it was just
A faded dream."
Yours truly,
Mr. Knight – Lost a Battle of Pursuit.
