i'll see them when i close my eyes tonight
i'll see his sun-sky blue eyes
i'll her smile blinding me
trying to erase the ache of
missing them more and more
as time goes speeding past my life.

I walk aided by curvaceous steps
leaning into a street of drafty darkness
circling around legs of steel.

Luminous stairs leading to brightly
woven stars hovering over my head

I walk

Into a valley of hot dreaded death
Noticed by nothing
I leave alone to ponder my reality

I walk

I met you when I was seventeen
Wide-eyed with first love.

Oh the utter joy

I loved you when I was eighteen
Paining me to become a woman

Oh the utter joy

I hated you when I was nineteen
Shattering the inner essence of me

Oh the utter despair

I met you when I was forty-seven
Wide-eyed with second love

Oh the utter joy

I loved you when I was forty-eight
Blissfully becoming a woman again

Oh the utter joy

I hated you when I was forty-nine
Shattering me all over again

Oh the utter despair

Twice in a lifetime we met and loved and you broke my heart
Here's til we meet again

i can't stop
not sure i want to
where would i end up if i did
lonely
and not at the top
