Untethering
Brandy Kaddoura Apr 2020
Her heart bursting with love and affection
She craved nothing more than his undivided attention
For him to be devoted and belong only to her
Of this was all she wanted to be sure
So she stifled her voice, her strength and power
Wanting him to see her as a delicate flower
With the passing of time her attempts won him over
And he finally professed that he loved her
Yet shockingly to her disbelief and surprise
At that very moment a discord within her began to rise
Striking in the very depths of her soul
The realization that she was not fit for this role
And to his dismay she took back her heart
For she knew the time had come to make a fresh start
One where she would release the chains on her soul
And cease to play the expected role

Change
Brandy Kaddoura Mar 2020
In the depths of our souls resides a pain
A steady stream of sadness falling like rain
Witnessing the world as it is begin to fumble
The powers that be taking a tumble
Collectively as one we are rocked with shock
Slowly but surely we start to take stock
Unfurling the bindings that have held things in place
Opening, expanding in an unknown, unexplored space
Where change is inevitable and bound to come
No matter how unwanted or resisted by some
And in this unveiling an ever growing voice in our hearts begins to sing
In wonderment and awe of what this shift will bring

A Walk
Brandy Kaddoura Mar 2020
When I glance up as I stroll along what do I see?
Why it’s birds and squirrels and leaves dancing in the trees
They worry not about what goes on in their midst
And carry on with their glorious tryst
As I look down at the dewy blades of grass beneath my feet
I spy a train of ants moving along to their own beat
I see a glistening, gooey, shimmering trail
That I soon discover belongs to a lone snail
The wind picks up and gives a whip to my hair
And just as quickly as it arrived suddenly is no longer there
A ray of golden sun finds my face
And I smile to myself thinking, what a wonderful place
To what place am I referring you might ask?
Why of course it’s none other than this awe-inspiring planet on which we bask
Amazing, beautiful, one-of-a-kind
No other quite like it will we ever find
A gift from the Universe that I adore
And always will, forever more

Dance
Brandy Kaddoura Mar 2020
What would you do if you had one last chance
To grab hold of life and release that dance
You know the one, you’ve been neglecting for so long  Waiting for the day to be freed by the right song
Instead of a waltz, you move forward in a repetitive shuffle
Fearing your true nature will bring nothing but trouble
An unacceptable disruption of the status quo
A secret passion you must never, ever let show
Burning an endless fire deep down inside
With nowhere to go, having been convinced to hide
With each passing moment losing precious embers
Hoping that someone, somewhere will remember
That the dance has been the true path all along
Because after all, the ballroom of life is where we all belong
So release those flames and they will dance up to the skies above
And then all the world will see what you’re truly made of

— The End —
