This caravan
Ayo Nov 2018
Like a deadly meteorite fleeing from home
and heading towards the earth,
this caravan, filled with woes and wants
are headed towards us
while you pride in your thousands of square
meter wall and  ten thousand king kongs.

With parched throats and charred skin,
gory memories of war and violence
in their heads, behind them;
They have made it through the desert,
through the fire and fury of the sun.
They are on their way to a paradise
That’s lost her glory and grace.

They are the itinerant ants
finding their way across the Mediterranean.
Another troop of victims from
where life is hard and hopes are dimmed
by human flaws, follies and greed.

Life is fleeting, so is the chip
on your shoulders, and the power you wield.
how long would you watch life spill
from ordinary people
when you have the world in your pocket?

Life is a mirror,
and shattered are their dreams, their hopes.
how much more damage
your actions, your inaction shall cost us
while those lives and dreams
are trapped in the backlash of your follies?

Truth is a bitter pill.
And I know it chokes you
as it smashes your glass chin ego.

El dorado
Ayo Nov 2018
In the silence of the cold night,
loneliness lurks.

I crave for your friendly touch.
I ***** for your warm embrace.
I long for a kiss of life.

Through the unsmiling darkness
And under the mourning stars in the gloomy sky;
I find my way to El Dorado.

Why do you fill my dreams
As soon as I feel the soft hands of sleep
On my wary eyelids?

The Incursion
Ayo Nov 2018
Manner of ingress yet inexplicable!

They chew interminably, greedily.
They nibble at anything-
Pieces of furniture, carpet, metal.
Even my jungle boots.

They lick voraciously, noisily.
They mop clean spoons, plates
Pots of soup then disappear with the meat.
Even my tooth brush!
Creepy crawly prowlers!

My mini library of late ,
Now their relished adventure;
My literature, a potpourri
Of ****, saliva, and stale spill.
Perhaps they too read.
From a safe crevice of my privacy,
They peer at me, at my helplessness
At my restlessness, mocking my anguish.
Smelly jumpy nocturnal mice!

Memories
Ayo Nov 2018
Now my window is opened,
So is my tender heart.
Uninvited again the early
Morning breeze rushes in,
And in agony my candle flame cries out.
It bends and uncoils like we did
When we kissed the night before.
Dawn will soon come
And ****** away the darkness.
It will chase away the icy nasty nightly wind.

In seconds, clothes well ironed
And books properly read
Will be heading northwards –
7-hour drive from wild wide west
Like eternity from my new found love.
Cupid arrows deep within my veins
Pain and pleasure –
The inseparable twins of love
Are here like the August visitors.
Do they visit you too?

Last night the angry wind
Had come like a thief
Unblinking, bold and stubborn.
But it met me in you and you in me.
The fire in your beautiful tearful eyes
Brought out the man in me.
Last night, the ****** drums
In our hearts trembled, rocked
And exploded with reckless abandon
To the sweet rhythm of love.

Vanity
Ayo Nov 2018
We make. We destroy.
We laugh, dine, and wine.
We cry amidst woes and pain.
Yes, we merry. We toil.
We pray .We sin and soil
We dream of paradise.
We fall. We rise.
We love. We hate.
We live. We mate.
But lo and behold
The shadow fades into abyss
And our lousy, hurried footsteps
Are no longer heard.

Departure
Ayo Oct 2018
No ***** hug,
No fleeting bye-bye kiss,
No friendly peck,
Not even a distant reassuring smile;
Perhaps my hope of you is over bloated.
Perhaps my blindness wouldn’t see

The mortality in you and my reason,
The dust and ashes in your bones.
But alas the phone rang!
A male voice croaky and laden with grief
Broke the news-your departure,
Leaving a vicious exit wound in my heart.

Hope In The Rain
Ayo Nov 2018
We  hope for the sun.
For the glorious dawn.
But hope, like a million years away.
Stares at us from afar.
In the thick, scary gloom,
We ***** for the twinkling stars.

Drenched in the peltering rain,
We hope for sunshine,
And a smiling tomorrow
We hope for bread and wine
From *****,lying walls.
We hope and feed on soothing lies
From smooth criminals

Today still in our childlike faith
We wait and hope.

Death walks the most eerie places.
He lives in the depth of the restless seas,
glides on the wings of the howling wind;
He roams the wild, lurks in the trees,
Inside the dancing forest;
The inevitable fate of man
At him stares right from a bird’s nest.

Death walks the most eerie places:
In the murk, on the tall palm trees,
Inside those things that bring joy
And comfort and peace –even a child’s toy,
The lowest cliffs, the highest mountains
Reeks of his stale smell that never wanes.
In the air, unhindered by the strongest walls
As silent as a cat’s footfalls,
And as weightless as an hair strand,
He hovers around many a land.

The subtle fire that burns in a lady’s eyes
And the sweetness of his words therein lies
In the deepest of heart
Even in the apple right from the start.

Death walks the most eerie places;
His face is on the dollar bill,
In the most finest wine,
In the precious gem and stones,
Inside the gold mine;
He watches the mortals toil
Endlessly, both small and tall,
Even the rich and poor.
He laughs at the vanity of all.
