Walking down the sidewalk
I wonder how many
broken hearts there are...
One, Two, Three...?
You can see it
in their eyes...
Four, Five, Six...?
You can see it
by the way their head is hung low...

One with a broken heart
can usually see it in another...
Ten...?
That's far too many,
fore I haven't even took a step...

Dreams shattered...
Hopes drift away...
Wants get hidden deeper inside...
Desires are ignored...

Some think to mend a broken heart,
you can try to fall in love again...
I know that isn't possible...
You'd always think of the one
you truly love...
You'd always dream of the one
who captured your heart...
You'd always wonder
what they were doing and with who...
You'd be left hoping
they were thinking of you, too...

Once upon a yesterday,
I held this baby boy of mine.
Cuddling him close to my chest,
as if we were tied together by a vine.

I remember when the days were sunny;
we'd go for long walks, hand in hand.
Sometimes we'd all go to the beach,
running and kicking our feet in the sand.

At night when it was time for bed,
he'd run and jump into my arms.
Then we'd read story books-
about cars, trucks, animals, and farms.

No longer a baby or a small boy,
he's now turning into a young man.
What will he do when school is done,
he could do anything he can.

I'm so sad, so hurt. I really want you back.
I want to hold you, at least,

You are such a beautiful precious little girl.
I'm so happy your first taste of life
was from my breast milk.
I wish I could have nursed you more often.
I'm glad you knew who I was.
You relaxed more to my voice,
better than anyone else's.
I enjoyed carrying you inside of me.
We were "one" for so long...
I was hoping to be holding you
when you passed away, and I was.
I know you went peacefully in your sleep,
cause I didn't even realize it had happened.
You held onto my finger with such a tight grip;
almost as if you were afraid to let go.
Now I know why...
I'm afraid to let go!
I'll never really get to 'see' you again.
I miss you so much.
I wish you were still alive.
I wish you'd been born healthy, I can't say 'perfect'
cause to me you were, and you still are.
