The first draft is always hard.
The hardest, if I were to be honest.
When writing, you don’t want to hold back the best
No, not even a shard
Don’t let your story be scarred
Or be darkened like onyx
If you write freely, you’ll be astonished.
But don’t let your idea be charred.
If you don’t want to spend the time
Because you don’t think you have talent
And because you don’t like rhymes
Or want to have a popular valent
To keep your writing in its prime
You must share and be gallant

Still
The world stops to listen
To the gentle trickle
The lull of pattern
The plants thrive
And thunder shakes the ground

This is the nature of a puzzle
Just a bundle of shapes.
Odd sizes with bits poking out .
Shattered, yet fixable.
Just a bundle of shapes
Left to the imagination
Shattered, yet flexible
They fit together
Left to the imagination
Yet structured precise
They fit together
Like they were destined to be
Though no one piece is the same as another
Odd sizes with bits poking out
Every piece is needed to complete the piece
This is the nature of a puzzle

Oh brother mine, why don’t you see?
This is the life I’ve chosen to lead
Oh brother mine, please understand
Remember that time when you were three?
That man who snatched you from the playground
Remember who rescued you? Now it’s my turn
To be in that place. To rescue the innocent
To keep people safe
Oh brother mine, don’t criticize
This gun at my waist? It’s not to fight
This badge on my chest. This badge in my hand
It’s an honor for me to wear
Oh brother mine, please listen to me
Dear brother, remember
When you were three?
