We met along the way and I was drawn to you
We drew drunk pictures in the night sky and the colors turned out true
You are warm and calm and kind and you hold my big thoughts in bigger hands
We went for a ride and never stopped going
Through valleys and alleys and places we know
My favorites are hidden, lost, almost forgotten
Overgrown paths beyond highways and towns.
I tried to navigate now and then but the car seemed to have a mind of its own and took us to where it wanted to go most of the time anyways
At night when the sun lets go of the earth she knows
And kisses its neck on the other side
We can steal away
Out of that mad car into a boat
To float off into dusk
Towards magical places
Glades fill with music and rain when our souls hush in dance.
Remembering last and next time in presence
When I can't tell you a secret it is just because
I do not try to keep any from you
Then I think about routine and how it drives lovers insane
And then I think about you, my daily jump out of this plane
I hear how night softly seduces the day
old roads will be new ones, lost in disguise
peppered with flowers and bustling surprise
And with you next to me I don't fear the sun rise
