American
Plug your nose, the sewage reeks Keep your gaze lifted, it speaks-- A yellow moon with slurred speech Begging the tide to up its reach. It gulps down another chug Of its wax-sealed twilight ale And begs once more: Tide, please, Come wash away the waste that seeps. The moon is tired, you see, Of all the bottles and bags. It drinks form the stars and the sky Watching as the ocean meets its demise.

The Reaches of the Bay
The folds of a satin robe Half her face serene and gold You wish time didn't exist here Sinking and no will to persevere A painter would turn to the reds Mix the oils with their own hands Frameless, guiltless as a mourning dove Knowing no brush could save your drown She glares her eyes asking you why Soft creases, the icing that wraps the cake But before the yum is over The sand you swallow gives you wake Harsh is the voice coming from her lips You beg for the forgiveness you think you're owed The sand is under your fingernails It's trapped under your eyelids As you remember those nights in the city The ones where silky sheets And seamless pillow cases Kept her face half-covered, serene and gold You plead and you ask Wondering how the city lights Went dark so fast The quicksand steals your last breath You wish time never existed at all She slips off her satin robe, a maiden unwarned And blinks away the static you forced onto her

A Totem Pole in Sinking Sands
The pepper catches my throat Clinging onto my taste buds Holding on for dear life A swimmer's stretch does no good Boat-tailed crows edge me on Without intent, the cup is back to my lips It burns, it burns, throat on fire Alert fire rescue, I need the hose Straight into my mouth Pressure cranked up It's almost self-infliction now To keep taking sip after sip But as long as the firefighters stand by I'm free to take the risk

Chai Latte
Prose with no nose Bees with no knees It's going around It's quite the disease Twilight whispers against Old, weary, tired moons Sitting back in their recliners Barely able to lift their pipes Bowls full of herb and spice Through chapped lips And scratchy breaths They tell their stories (prose with no nose) Cyclical reprise Cascading disease About bees with no knees

Hot Chocolate
This isn't poetry This pen isn't blue One of these boxes is true I can't read, can you? Is here a metaphor? Roses to romance, onions to ogres? This isn't poetry It's a hostage situation I'll give you these words If you make the cars stop If you make the time stop If you make my life stop Just everything stop. I'll up the ransom More impossible demands But could you at least stop The man staring at me?

Happy New Year
Vultures ahead Quicksand below Before me, it's him The man with open palms Behind me, it's her The girl without a mouth It's like being in a locked coffin Spikes covering the velvet lining Pressing into my face, my body Not enough to break skin But enough to break me I beg to be let out. The girl hums a growl The man cracks his knuckles The coffin is sinking, And the vultures are ready The man, the girl, the vultures Want to destroy my body So maybe it's best I settle in for a final rest In this sinking coffin Where come soon, the demons will soften

Suffocation by Resign
You never saw The note I slipped under your pillow You were dreaming Of drowned faces turned yellow

Down + Out
Sheep wool, bald heads, melt my plastics If you can't get away who are you If you can't understand me who am I Carpets, colorful, ****** designs Where will you go when you step over All the pebble stones all the wood planks I have a tiger in my backyard Where will I go when I sit down There's nothing alive and nothin in life These floors with hair, with treadings My nail polish chips like evolutionary beheadings Always carry, always walk, with shining gloom Outside nobody can breath or see you We're all blind, blind like eyeless walls You can't destroy these floors without destroying us all.

Tiger in my backyard
Would it be just like me Cuts, scratches, bruises, on a tree Worms around the trash bin and porch It would be like me, all this to torch Would it be just like you Tears, frowns, quivers, as if on cue Crows circling around the bald spot of your head It would be like you, the heaviness of lead Would it be just a part of my suffering Beats, shanks, stabs, all this I'm wondering As you stalk the perimeter of my body It would be my suffering, all your evil to embody

A lizard on a porch chair and An ant on my left arm. Why do I come here when Really, I'm out here alone.
