I trade my soul for your story Broken colors strung together Once for love and then for glory A chorus made of unmade letters Written from love's lasting shadow Against our will our hearts are stolen Swept away by fated arrows In photographs we still remember Which we recite in lonely whispers Reminding us untouched sinners A second glance when we miss her

My Heart Writes as I Remember
One second you’re lost in his eyes tearfully moving on to the next guy. Do you think that this is romance changing your heart like a swing dance? Trust me dear, life can be so much brighter. Hey girl, it gets better. You’re deeply in love with the idea of love searching for hope like you’re one Noah’s doves holding on to your heart that’s barely lit, and if you aren’t careful you’ll only lose it. Happy endings don’t last forever. Hey girl, life is better. Your heart breaks from losing love and friends it seems like a game that you just can’t win. Wondering why you’re always second best, you don’t realize you’re taking the wrong test. Your soul will dance in the arms of another. Hey girl, that song is better. A broken heart changes a dreamer’s delusion clears up perceived love’s fated confusion. Love comes for those who are busy living, well maybe not, but at least you’ll be breathing. Hope is found when you refuse to say never. Hey girl, even scars get better.

Hey Girl, It Gets Better
The weekend is nearly here                                                                            My friends are finished playing So they catch me on their way To the bar that’s not a bar. The waitresses can always tell When brothers look the same She gives us quite the laugh In the bar that’s not a bar. Others came, but a little late Two tables is all it takes Until they need to leave again From the bar that’s not a bar. Among the guys she’s alone, Or were there three, who can see It’s just another conspiracy At the bar that’s not a bar. All the teacher run away With the fighting players, And the servers drinking Inside the bar that’s not a bar. Flash of light and its around A girl’s fame shared by all He’s fine but she is shamed Far from the bar that’s not a bar. He’s looking straight ahead, The mirror staring back at him Love is working mysteriously For the bar that’s not a bar. It’s getting late almost two Talking as they fall asleep They see each other differently Back at the bar that’s not a bar. When we leave they say to stay Need to check your identity Guess they forgot all about me Leaving the bar that’s not a bar. Sitting down I finish writing That I think I see the silver lining Of having friends who see each other At the bar that’s not the bar.

The Bar That's Not a Bar
I’m an old man dancing in the lake with flowers dying before they bloom better to break them than to lose them, cause madness always seems friendly, until you see what’s inside me. The moment’s gone before you look seeing nothing, but a need to grow, but lovers always start in the soul. Long ago I related to my elders, the older I get the more I’m a child, Puck can’t come play in the winter. I’m not black, white, good or evil, cause every demon was once an angel. You try too live so that you can love, I’m going to love so that I can live. When the sun is made of kryptonite, a heart that sings strums its scars, like a child witness their first dawn, I’m no longer drowning in the lake.

Good Dreams in Math Class
I'm feeling oh so lonely and just need to be alone. Got a drive to conquer, but I'll sleep instead. I'm too afraid to dance when I just need to move. Don't ask me to speak, cause I have too much to say. I'll wear a frozen mask right beside my heart of fire. Yeah, it keeps me warm, and it burns me alive. I'll joke with hard logic, I just don't follow its rules. I'm always dreaming, even when I can't fall asleep. No reason to leave, but I don't have the itch to stay. Always hard to just say no unless you're someone I know. I see that sometimes I'm wrong, and sometimes it's not worth being right. I'm a second-rate romantic believing in a first-rate love. I'm quiet and shy going crazy inside. Please don't look at me, but I need you to see me. Can't say I understand the paradox inside me.

Weird Little Me
I heard my mother yesterday like an echo with something to say with a heart patched up with love, and trials for all she hasn’t lost. I fall apart with my friend like a rock carried by the wind with the gifts she always gives, and the lies she takes away. I say goodbye to my lover like the whisper of a broken heart with every scar she delivered, and her heartfelt silence. I forget myself with my sisters like a secret in a song unsung with a faith of perfect vision, and all they share with their brothers. I hold the hand of my bride like a dollar you’re afraid to be apart from with every trap that’s before us, and the time we lose track of. I look into my daughter’s eyes like the eye in the hurricane with her mother lying right beside me, and my girl hears an echo in the wind. I’m told that Eve's the cause of every sin like one tree unjustly burned among the others without the chance given to the man, and were it true, Eve would be worth it.

Eve
I swim through the roses Blooming among the dying Leaving the stars behind me Taking a harsher path. Life is nothing but a lover Doesn’t last after all The only love that matters Is the one we leave behind. Suppose for just one second Or perhaps a minute more will do That hope is only beauty When it burns a mark in you. Time to continue on For another night But how do flowers grow In the winter’s shadows?

Winter's Shadow
When left alone we’re afraid but I guess that’s just how we were made. Do you remember where you were when everything begins to burn. at the fall of our December? I’m like a Christmas breeze running to the American dream all the people sleeping What are you seeing? No one left to learn the lies that follows up a moment’s death causes you lose after all your tries. underwater without a chance.

Fall In December
Ain't ain't a word if you haven't heard. So that you know after a while it begins to show. Giving up all we should keep based off how a fellow speaks. Now we never hear lost in a wordless fear. Looking down like it's a game while praising the Bard for doing the same. Afraid to create something new to take a false word and make it true.

Ain't: A Sonnet
I was sitting down alone as the winter gleamed a couple came to ask me can we sit beside you? Nothing between us was said and so sit down they did. Are you ready for some Christmas cheer? I hear them sing to me And normally I would but this year was going differently. I have no time for Christmas cheer there’s far too much to fear. What about your wish for I’m sure it’s very real. A gift annually delivered to all whom you choose. From each other we received five golden rings. I’m afraid my hands are bare I have no gifts to give. and I can’t believe in dreams when there’s now stars to see. Don’t you believe in miracles in this time of year? A chance to hope as it ends for tomorrow to begin. With a sigh I replied that I didn’t yesterday though now that I see the sparks between you now I too believe. They were satisfied and finally let me be I was silent for a moment then I began to cry I began to cry at Christmas time.
