"warp" poems
Whether a comma, or colon: Punctuation slows my rolling I need no period. When I end no Capitalization when I begin Rulelessly I flow my art   Not a single! Exclamation mark Are you not the one Who'll know? Where a question mark No longer goes Warp the structure Bend the lines Put in repeat Let emotion unwind Make yourself Your poetry's the best Be your own ruler Pass your own test Take your own road Where ever it leads Lover or hater It's all poetry!

MAKE YOURSELF
I feel as though I am losing you to a snake. One who's venom has the ability to warp your mind. I feel as though I am losing your heart to its bite. A strong overpowering sensation of pure manipulation. I feared that when I awoke this morning you would no long be mine, but in fact hypnotized by every scale and slither. And while you are still resting soundly, arms wrapped around me, She whispered in your ear last night. (i. r)

Manipulation
Though time has built an endless warp of suffering and pain the ancient dust of Africa is breaking down the chain can you hear the winds of change shifting through the brain the ancient dust of Africa makes diamonds in the falling rain

Third world child
A Muslim boy with a clock Is seen as a terrorist with a glock Maybe i'm right, maybe i'm wrong But if he were White, Asian, Hispanic or even Pacific Islander Nobody would of suspected anything. When are we going to stop fearing an entire race for only a portion radical and illogical ways of treating others? I don't tolerate people who behead others if they don't agree with their religion I don't agree with the repressive governments that control everyone and stone them for minor misdemeanors There are good men out there fighting this evil that has plagued their homelands I'm all for ending terrorism of all kinds But let's stop terrorism of innocents too Sure, i'm afraid of what the radicals will do to their own people, my people and the rest of the world But i'll be dammed if i treated somebody from the Middle East like a monster when i don't even know who they are If it wasn't for a Middle Eastern girl The Syrians girls wouldn't have an improved education If it wasn't for a Middle Eastern man fending off the Taliban and risking his entire village to keep Marcus Littrell alive He would of been KIA a long time ago. What about the ones who fought and died for America? Nobody ever mentions them The media wants me to hate them all, but i laugh and shake my head Warped minds trying to warp others I only see the ones who want to do us harm, and the ones who want to live peacefully and away from a life of hell Brothers and sisters, just a different culture and skin color I'm sorry if America seems racist or hateful, but i'm proud to be the one who throws those two words in the trash Because i'm not afraid to speak my mind And i welcome everyone here America is everyone's home. If only the Soviet Union never invaded Afghanistan If only the people were not scared To be free like America. Unity for all, Religious differences and Cultures alike. I hope one day a Muslim man or Woman can walk down an American street without being labeled as a terrorist. I hope one day these repressive governments fall into the hands of democracy And we start the Age of Unity again.

You know, there's always a song that takes me back To a year, so long before It's not always a top ten song That hits my very core It just grabs me and transports me Back in time while standing still It might take me to a good place Release a memory I should **** But, my soundtrack is different It's not just music in my mind There's sounds that make my playlist up Sounds of a different kind A baseball smacking leather God, that sets me free Some good, some bad, some coaching Some involve my ******* up knee The click on every eight track When it switches channels to play on Brings back those early mornings when the house cleaning was done But, music, yes the music makes a large part of my list Some take me back to dances And the girls I never kissed The good songs stretch my senses Make me smell things from the past The memories still linger While the music didn't last Sirens, car wrecks, yelling Have their place on my list too It's not music to most people It made my list though, who knew? A sound as small as raindrops Take me back to a morning when I stood on line with a hundred others Brave women and brave men Cornwallis, Nova Scotia rain and U2 take me on a track To basic training on the east coast Wow, that's 25 years back A car crash and a siren Takes me to when I met my wife This was on the television when Princess Di, she lost her life So, my soundtrack is eclectic It's not just music fuels my trips It might be a golf ball bouncing That takes me through a time warp slip A song, that's just too easy Everyone has one of those But, can you travel back, oh, 30 years When someone blows their nose? There's more sounds that effect me But, those I think I'll hide I will write about them later And I will take you on that ride In 50 years of living Lots of sounds have hit my ears We'll sit and chat about them One day over a few beers....

Hometown girls are real with you. If they don't like you, they'll even make their ***** look ugly; pulling them in all the way to the tops of their thighs through their buttholes and you can smell the stench in your brain. But when they let you in, when they let you sit on their ears, it's like warp-drive. They smoke virginia slims, because that's what their mom's smoke, and the bags under their eyes are filled with nicotine, but they're pretty bags, purses of flesh full with the kinetic beauty of coal. Hometown girls are mostly black, mostly white, fifty-fity, but nobody's checking and when they whisper something nice in your ear it's colored with a microbrew or a wheel of Jim Beam. Sometimes they'll take you by the wrist into the bathrooms; sometimes they'll take your drink when you're not looking and smile when you catch them with it on their lips. But that smile is good even, on par with a supernova in its ability to crush and make beautiful. But most of the time, they stand around outside Casbah and Motorco --if they're bougie it'll be West End-- in the middle of the night under the porch of the sky looking out with amber slitted eyes like cats, their legs twitching thoughtfully as they wait for cabs and pick at the night. Hometown girls are sexy/beautiful because they'll watch your every move from the gallery out of empathy, knowing they've been that ***** before, knowing they've been that lonely, knowing they just want to get drunk and want to be around randoms that aren't so random.

The divine walkway To the river-side Has began to warp in Singing and whooping with love, But I was in the palace To witness the examination, See how the evening sky Has suffered with crimson And delight, awaiting The gorgeous joy of the dawn, How can the nations Begin this monthly journey With a broken arm? The old gossip proclaimed that Mother Africa caused the *** to burst into loud wails Early on that faithful morning, Whiles the companions took No pain to grace the occasion, Oh gosh, is that the time? Is that an absolute Gospel of the gory spectacle? Indeed, we need to offer Sacrifices of praise To propitiate the gods, Let the gracious protocol begin! Mothers, please cover That beautiful black skin With that sunblock sheabutter cream, And cover that gracious hips With that piece of kente cloth, My dear, please Taste the sacred food And swallow the egg also, For sitting on a golden stool Which stands on a precious mat, Has become good news for the ancestors, Now perceive this, When the moonlight slipped Past the curled edges Of the shades of nature, and The children faces gleamed, I knew I had Fallen victim to the sensual Lures and snares of the Twin towers protruding From your glorious chest, You have indeed kindled The eternal flame within me, My black eternal beauty, You are truly A fine African woman. © PRINCE NANA ANIN-AGYEI Email: [email protected]

VIVID LOVE (BRAGORO - PUBERTY RITES)
One moment we laugh, the next we cry Invigorating this emotional rollercoaster ride So slow going up, so fast coming down Young hearts breaking at the speed of sound Slapped in the face by the experience of life Unwarranted emotions of hatred and strife Roundabout the station we begin to ascend Straight down then curve as our minds warp and bend Terror overpowers and tortures our souls As we reach our ****** of out of control Attached to life’s rails we’re moving so fast How long can we expect this passion to last But nobody wants this ride to be over It’s all so intoxicatingly sober

Like an alien in a spotlight With her magnifying glasses on My mother as she worked, up all night Did invisible weaving till dawn I would watch her when I couldn’t sleep Honing in on that hole in the suit Intently, her concentration deep Weaving tiny threads enlarged like jute In other-worldly light she labored I was afraid she’d lose her eyesight Watching her focus never wavered Her face all aglow in the lamplight Invisible weaving, I inquired How tediously she plied her craft Worked for the money that she required Made the warp and weft of fabric last Reconstruction, undetectable No more burn, or tear, or fabric blight Weaving magic so incredible Its wound now perfect by morning’s light She taught me much that I’m still making From her life that now I’m grieving Sewing, crocheting and great baking But never invisible weaving The picture of her life that mattered I now see how she toiled so finely And that the wrinkles in the fabric Of my own life splayed out so blindly The vision of my eyes, bedazzled Incandescent, her face in the beam Unaware how her mind unraveled As Depression stole her ev’ry dream The threads of DNA defining Who I’ve become I’m now believing My mother’s hand in that designing Of my own Invisible Weaving* *In honor of my mother, Edla Sylvia Fitzpatrick, on this International Women's Day

"Many a physics graduate student has gnashed her teeth in frustration over the mathematics of general relativity. Perhaps she should try envisioning a flat, boundless desert, with rocks of various sizes scattered across its surface, whose mass creates dips of various depths in the sand. A sturdy canopy looms over that desert, stretched tightly over a skeleton of tent poles linked by bars, matching the rises and dips in the sand beneath it. The desert is all the matter and energy in the universe, while the canopy is the geometry of space-time. The poles and bars are the equations of general relativity, connecting the stuff of the universe with the shape of the universe. As Halpern writes: “Mass and energy warp space-time, telling it where and how to curve. The shape of space-time, in turn, governs how things move within it.” ------------------------------------------------------- My mass and my energy are both warped, so the where's and the how's and the eyes of my curves are the poles and the bars of behind which I relentlessly cease to exist, only to seize what lies beyond the constraints of time and space, as eye wait for the bus to stop in the No Standing zone The Bus Poet Stop!

Through the vales to my love! To the happy small nest of home Green from basement to roof; Where the honey-bees come To the window-sill flowers, And dive from above, Safe from the spider that weaves Her warp and her woof In some outermost leaves. Through the vales to my love! In sweet April hours All rainbows and showers, While dove answers dove,-- In beautiful May, When the orchards are tender And frothing with flowers,-- In opulent June, When the wheat stands up slender By sweet-smelling hay, And half the sun's splendour Descends to the moon. Through the vales to my love! Where the turf is so soft to the feet, And the thyme makes it sweet, And the stately foxglove Hangs silent its exquisite bells; And where water wells The greenness grows greener, And bulrushes stand Round a lily to screen her. Nevertheless, if this land, Like a garden to smell and to sight, Were turned to a desert of sand, Stripped bare of delight, All its best gone to worst, For my feet no repose, No water to comfort my thirst, And heaven like a furnace above,-- The desert would be As gushing of waters to me, The wilderness be as a rose, If it led me to thee, O my love!

Once in every man's life, He should be brought to his knees by a beautiful woman. She should level him. She should hypnotize him, and warp him with her wit beyond recognition. She should give him hope, and then break him. She should enchant him with her charm. And then curse him with reality. Her departure should rock him to his core. It should shock him. It should send him reeling for weeks and months after the fact. It should bring up insecurity he had no idea was there. It should be a mandatory part of becoming a man. A rite of passage that shows him he has no rights to have. If he is broken, he will not break by his own volition. If she is cold, to another he will be warm. He will have no pride or defenses left. He will protect, he will pursue, and he will come to her rescue because he will know. He will understand his own pain and never wish it upon another. Every man must be destroyed.

and I would give everything I have to see your eyes light up like streetlamps and you know that time in summer where the steady glow from daylight merges into night time and the breeze dances along the leaves of trees too tall like ballerinas; so gentle if you blink you’ll miss the sway of them? that’s what you remind me of. you are a glow, an indian sunset and I long to be the sea your sun shine kisses and when your glow transcends into moonlight I long to be the stars who are accompanied by your effervescent light night after night and you know to me you will always be a god **** sunset when you should be rainfall: you pour down on everything I love and leave puddles;  you cause unapologetic floods in the crevices of my collarbones and attach your saltwater to the follicles of my hair and you warp the words on the pages of love letters I never sent and when you fall down my cheeks my teardrops and your raindrops will merge and for a moment we will become one and that’s all I’ve ever wanted. to be one with you. to be a god **** indian sunset in your illuminous eyes. I keep running through the hallways of my mind and your voice is bouncing off the walls and echoing straight through my chest and there’s a thudding that gets louder and louder, like bongo drums, every time and I’m pretty sure my heart is now a gallery of us, open for public consumption and they can walk along the hallways and appreciate the beauty of our profound love like you never could. one day you will find someone who melts your heart into your veins until it feels like the oxygen around your body is trapped and screaming for you to try to breathe, try to breathe harder and you’ll scream for them and they’ll stop returning your calls and there’ll be no texts and everything you once had will sink – almost in slow motion, almost as intangible as the idea that I loved you harder than anyone ever could – a ship where you’re the only person aboard and you’ll be watching an indian sunset like you watched their fingertips trace the curvature of your hips for the last time and you’ll realise in that moment that they were your indian sunset and man, don’t you just wish for some rainfall?

I keep running through the hallways of my mind and your voice is bouncing off the walls and echoing straight through my chest and there’s a thudding that gets louder and louder, like bongo drums, every time and I’m pretty sure my heart is now a gallery of us, open for public consumption and they can walk along the hallways and appreciate the beauty of our profound love like you never could. one day you will find someone who melts your heart into your veins until it feels like the oxygen around your body is trapped and screaming for you to try to breathe, try to breathe harder and you’ll scream for them and they’ll stop returning your calls and there’ll be no texts and everything you once had will sink – almost in slow motion, almost as intangible as the idea that I loved you harder than anyone ever could – a ship where you’re the only person aboard and you’ll be watching an indian sunset like you watched their fingertips trace the curvature of your hips for the last time and you’ll realise in that moment that they were your indian sunset and man, don’t you just wish for some rainfall?

the day i left for good he wrapped me in an inescapable bear hug that made me feel like i was gonna stop breathing in 3 2 1... we listened to a whole lotta tom petty which is the reason why whenever i'm scanning through the radio on those drives i go on too often that lead to nowhere and i hear "refugee" or "free fallin" i skip. i read a lot to him and he always listened to everything i had to say and the 290th time of the day that i'd say **** and everytime i said something even remotely twisted a small smirk would gradually paint on his lips and then he'd laugh and say it was a good thing we loved each other otherwise he would think i was severely ****** up in the head. he loved my heart shaped sunglasses and he said i made him feel like he was living in a time warp where it was 1989 every millisecond of every waking hour of every day and i loved his eternal youthfulness that sent fireworks flying through my central nervous system. and when he released me from the wrath of his arms he promised that we were gonna sit on his back porch and crack open some brews at midnight and tell stories when i came back home. i miss him more than the sun misses the moon in the morning light my partner in crime, my adrenaline ****** my sagittarius. -z. vega

my sagittarius
I can feel my lungs collapsing with every shallow breath And I can't decide if it's the holes left behind from cigarette smoke burns Or the pieces of me that followed behind you It's 10:05 and as much as I keep trying to warp the truth the minutes tick on leaving me stranded in seconds of long lost times Wishing from fruitless bones Remembering could have beens that weren't And chasing endings that never quite were within reach And I know cigarette fills don't last But I can taste my time running out And my bones refuse to give away hints to weather it's a countdown or liftoff The essence never quite strong enough to disguise the bitter after-taste your words left behind with me It's 4:00 am and as smoke fills my lungs I vaguely remember being told the only souls awake at this time are the lonely and the loved Now it's been months since I was introduced to this hour but still all I feel is nothing. You told me pretty girls don't light their own cigarettes but that never stopped my lungs from burning every time you breathed my way Leaving scars of razor sharp words never spoken Pushed down to the hollow of my scorching throat Thirsting for the oasis of the syllables they were never quite within reach of quenching. They say cigarettes curve your hunger. And I guess they're almost right because so far all this nasty habit has curved is My appetite for you Now it Hurts to realize that the attention I mean cigarettes You willingly offered were just cleverly disguised poison Burning away my insecurities only to reintroduce them in misunderstood exhales of passion All I have left to feel are my lungs gasping for every last breath Lungs pulsing for every last breath Lungs shrinking to accommodate every last breath You took away from me
