"voted" poems
They didn't know what Diversity was... The kids, that is. Since the kids didn't know it, the teacher coined it as "“black” visibility". She wasn't sure if she could make that call so she nodded her head, looking for approval. The interviewer asked in what direction did the teacher see Diversity As if Diversity was a one-way street. Let me just refresh your memory... "“black” visibility" As if decades of progress in the schools were undone, The kids voted on Performances and Projects for “black” History Month. How shocking!... Kids of every shape, size, ability and race studying a time in history... Sounds racist to me. They wanted a Gospel Choir that is clearly only for “black” students Because I'm the student Director for the Fordham University's Rhythm of Praise Gospel Chior for the fourth year running... Maybe I'm missing something... MAYBE I'm “black”... Maybe if I close my eyes really tight... Nope, I'm still “white”. Olive brown perhaps? Only in the summer. Anyway, I digress like Sophia Patrilo from the Goldren Girls Who was Italian by the way. Just advertising for Diversity. Let's debate about "Music Debates" for a moment. Maybe you call it Debates because Hip Hop is debatable, and by the way only for “black” students. When I could argue for days upon days About how Reggaeton didn't come from Salsa but I know **** well that Salsa came first. The kids wanted to Stomp the Yard and battle it out. I do believe rap battles take place around the world And one of the best rappers I know is an English teacher in Harlem Whose hair is redder than a leprechaun. Talent Shows that showcase every student's ability Whether it be singing, dancing, performing their poetry, But still apparently that's not Diversity. Neither is an International Day Where International ways are celebrated. And finally, a Diversity Day, That clearly means diversity is separated. "They wanted a lot of things" Yeah. They asked for a whole lot... of everything BUT diversity. That's right, because they don't know what it means The Kids, that is... Then tell me please: Define Diversity. Is it seeing a “black” horse with “white” stripes Or a “white” horse with “black” stripes? Why is it between “black” and “white”? Why not between “white”, “black” brown, yellow, orange, brick red... Let's get it out of our head That teachers can't learn anything from their students, Because it sounds to me, Like they had a pretty good start to the meaning of Diversity. And if it turns out they didn't, That's what teachers are there for: Make a **** lesson about it.

"What is Diversity?"

Teamwork Solves The Problem They say “two minds are better than one.” Nothing could be truer. As I watched a friend and his relative, patiently, take apart and fix a broke appliance. I relaxed and observed. The two had the item repaired and figured out quicker than one whose questions are the parts in which the other can answer when there, with him, aiding in the battle of winning the war to piece together a needed tool , that needs mending. Through answered questions from a partner well answering problems, the other had faced, piecing together the problem, through help and sweet and strong reliance. Upon another to help in rougher times. I remarked on such, the phrase, as they smiled. In agreement…it wa voted unanimously. That :”two minds are better than one” Simultaneously….we all nodded. It was a new motto on which we have started to have styled… Even more so, even a “ton” of minds wishing to achieve the same goal - to fix a broken moment… or even a city that is in disrepair. such, through unity, the item was finished and the conversation had ended…. It is alike war and conflicts…… …. Having people, ready with you, voluntarily by your side… Is better than being too tall for one’s own good…or even better motives… If he fails to see that “one is not an island…” “Nor is one an army…” Common Sense tells him to ask for “brother’s in arms” which overrides any strong form of blind pride..

Teamwork Solves The Problem
All these kids, They cry, Scream, And ***** "I WANT FREEDOM FROM MY PARENTS!" That simple freedom does not concern me. I want freedom, but not just from my parents so I can stay out late. I want freedom, From my peers, From my family, From the government, And from myself. I want to be free to walk down the halls, Hand in hand with a girl, Who I'm in love with. I want to be able to do that, With no fear in my heart. No worries or names called, Or punches thrown. I want that freedom. I want the freedom to be able to bring a girl home, And show her to my parents, And tell her how much I love her, In front of them. I want to be able to talk to my mom, About relationship problems, About the GIRL who broke my heart, But I cant. I want the freedom to marry. To marry any person I choose, No matter the gender. Male, Or female, It should not matter. My happiness, And the way I spend my life, Is not something that should be voted on, By those with half a brain. I want freedom from myself, To accept me, And be who I am, Without any shame. But I can't do that, Unless I have the freedom from others, To be me, And be happy with that. I want the freedom to be gay. Some may complain, That the gays are already free, Too much maybe. But that is not the case. We're not persecuted, But we're not free. All throughout history there has been movements for freedom. There was one of religious freedom, When puritans came to the New World from Britain. A war was started, And freedom came out with a victory. There was one of freedom for slaves, So that they could live the lives they wanted, And not have to be owned, And treated like property, By another human being. Once again, A war was started, And the slaves were freed. There was one of freedom for women, So that women could be the same as men, Equals. There were marches, And protests, And women rights came out on top. There was one of freedom for those of color, So that they can mix, And mingle, With the race that whites thought was superior. There were marches, And sit ins, Protests, And brawls, But guess who won in the end? We are working towards freedom of LGBTQ, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning/queer, And one way or another, We will eventually get our freedom. Look at all these past freedom movements, There were always two sides to it. Which side are you on? Is it the right one? This is not the land of the free and the home of the brave. This is the land of the *** ******* cowards, And the home of the "You can be free, if we allow it." I think its about time we either lived up to our motto, Or changed it.

the day U. S. justice died
What a city I murmur to myself looking at its map. We approached the city known as Dis, with its vast army and its burdened citizens. At last we reached the moats dug deep around the dismal city. What destroys the poetry of a city? Automobiles destroy it, and they destroy more than the poetry. Dante and Virgil chased by 7 or 8 dangerous devils Grumpy, Happy, Sneezy, Sleepy, ***** . . . Our heroes reduced from metaphysical philosophers interested in god and what man has done to man to improvising primitive tools for survival. Hope abandoned, we rate our chances of expiring in the nuclear fire – excellent – during the decline of western civilization. On the other hand, I hope our current problems are only temporary and it’s just a matter of time before the public ignores the 24-hour news cycle. Bad news sells but the good life’s all around us. One feels love and devotion even for the 60 million who voted for our opponent. Vaclav Havel said with a wisdom well beyond brilliance: “Either we have hope within us or we don’t. It is a dimension of the soul, and it’s not dependent on some particular observation of the world or estimate of the situation. It is an orientation of the spirit, an orientation of the heart that transcends the world as it’s immediately experienced. It is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense no matter how it turns out.” It resembles grief. But it's not quite grief. I'll give you grief. Certain days planned to be eventful I look forward to for weeks. Let the peaceful transfer of power proceed. The sorrow and the pity. Never may the anarchic man find rest at my hearth. When the laws are kept, how proudly the city stands! When the laws are broken, what of the city then? We are moving through some allegory between a City of Hope, where history has been abolished, and a City of History, where hope can be slipped in only as contraband. Failing to achieve understanding, we're searching outer space for an entity to unite us as humanity. That person, or city, is consciousness. Two ancient female poets are a revelation, the clarity of their complaints: lost lover, lost city. Our enemy eventually becomes our brother, his misery lifted by coming to her city.

Law, All ye termites hacking ants are you without sin? Twisting the law to your greed thus dethroning justice Thou that dis-virgins the law to suit your selfish taste, Did not equity say that none is above the law? Money-thirsty vultures seeking positions to occupy. Law hackers depriving justice and equity of her rights Equity and justice now lives in shame of her virginity, Almighty termite, do not your deeds speak evil of your sins? I weep blood for justice and equity whose daughters you ***** Is there none whose conscience still breathe or lives? Power-driven termites making uncountable promises Yet accomplishing none but your calculated interests. Equity, All ye leaders that preach peace, are you not corrupt minded? En-slaving accounts meant for public welfare Yet you claim to have the peoples interest in mind, Did not the law command you to let equity and justice smile? Parasitic predators hi-jacking the country's economy Filthy termites proclaiming injustice upon powerless ants, Justice hackers, do not your conscience judge your judgments? I wish that you allow justice and equity have her way. Law benders at whose feet equity and justice bow Rippers of the law, at your hands justice is twisted, Is your nature as humans so inhumane? Little wonder the earth lives in fear of your tyranny. Justice, All ye slanders of the law, why not sheath your swords of corruption? Your unchecked power has broken the wings of justice Thereby making equity a widow without a husband, Remember your oaths to serve with justice and equity; Did you deceive the ants that voted you in to serve them? Chameleons occupying seats of filtered ambitions Woe betide your conscience for refusing to judge you, Are you not guilty of molesting the law? I mourn for the shameful death of equity and justice. You that crafts the law to fit your suit of corruption Remember a day comes when justice will laugh again, And you being powerful cannot escape the law of Karma. Karma, Murderers of the law, will you also bribe karma? I doubt if you can buy the law of karma with money. Thou whose gluttony corrupts justice and equity, Don't you feel guilty that you disvirgined the law? Equity and justice now roams about in nakedness, You that preach the law, are you true to yourself? Heartless spiders cob-webbing the law to entangle poor ants Did not equity bid you come to justice with clean hands? Yet with filthy garments you condemn innocent ants; Mind you that someday the law will rise again. All ye scavengers of justice and hackers of the law, Do you think you can **** the law of Karma?

Behold the One with the Aries, the Ward of Santa Muerte Our 16th President voted by 16 million Filipinos this 2016 The 1st President from Mindanao from being Mayor of Davao…Duterte! He is One with MiJoRdGr (Miriam, Jojo, Rody, Grace) The 4 Opposition Presidentiables who defeated Mar Roxas And brought Liberal Party its great disgrace! The One with the Aries from the Land with War The Land of Promise – feared by typhoons, but filled with goons So from her came a Liberator among MiJoRdGr! That this One should war with our nation’s greatest horrors -Drug Lords, Liberals, Treasoners, Criminals & Terrorists- These powerful entities to our history are desecrators! So by being one with lawmakers, law enforcers & lawful people By the overwhelming power of the Supermajority Our country’s greatest terrors…Du30 shall conquer them all! But first, he must defeat his detractors – Leila, Leni & Trillanes These triple crooks who want to topple the government Are also said to be conspiring with EU, UN & US! Yet with Trump’s triumph, US is no longer an enemy Our American hatred weakened, our Chinese friendship strengthened As it established great friendship with Pres. Du30! Do not emulate the girl power of those Liberal crooks We got an Olympic medalist Heidilyn & Ms. International 2016 But Leila & Leni?...Can only ruin our country…like blasted nukes! Do not worry for we have Pacquiao as still winner & role model Alongwith Gen. Bato, a victim of yellow washing machine But these Pro-Du30 men…to criminals tough, to innocents gentle! May God allow this True Change to take place with continuity Let Pres. To the man on the street that called my ex girlfriend and I ****** I forgive you. We were nineteen and in love, I’m sorry that you were raised in a way that made you look at two girls holding hands and laughing as something that wasn’t to be shown in public. I’m sorry that my happiness made you feel insecure in that moment. My happiness was not on display to offend you. My love life was never an act of rebellion against you. I will forgive you for how you were raised but I will not apologize for showing love in a way you don’t deem appropriate for wandering eyes. To the people I went to high school with, I’m sorry I never heard the rumours you spread about me until you were already out of my life. I’m sure you meant to break my heart when you called me **** in the hallways but your words never made their way back to me. Your aggression towards who I chose to love never stopped me from falling in love with girls I never imagined could be real. I refuse to hide away my love. I will not let your words shame me back into the closet I was scared to admit I was stuck in. To the people who used to send me anonymous messages telling me to **** myself I hope you’re in a better place now. I often think about how my big secret made you so upset that you couldn’t stand to live in the same world as me. I’m not sorry that I’m still here now. I still feel sorry that you were so sad with yourself that you needed to make me feel as hopeless as you were. To the people who voted no towards same *** marriage but watch girl on girl **** I’m sorry my love is only okay when it’s for your pleasure. I’m sorry that you have such a skewed view on life that you see women as objects and not as people. I would forgive you but I don’t think you’d fess to your wrongdoing to be forgiven. There is nothing to forgive if someone won’t admit that they are wrong. I’m twenty three now and I’m still not sorry for writing love poems about beautiful girls. I have stopped apologizing for being something that I’m proud of. I no longer hide behind my assumed heterosexuality. I proudly proclaim my attraction to women because I spent too many years being ashamed of being in love. I will never again sweep hatred under the rug to keep peace. I have never needed your approval for my love to be valid and I never will.

Please, may someone save my country? Save it from the guy that says he would beat up any gay couple he saw kissing Save it from the guy that says ugly woman don't even deserve to be ***** Save it from the guy that says he approves torture Save it from the guy that says his son would never date a black woman cause he was raised well Save it from the guy that says people should be fuzilated Save it from the guy that says he weakened and for that he had a female child Save it from the guy that says parents should beat up their kids if they started "acting gay" Save it from the guy that says it's okay to put rats inside of teen girls' vaginas as a way of punishment Save it from the guy that says women should be paid less than men Save it from the guy that says the mistake of the military regime was to torture instead of killing Above all Save it from all the people that voted for him Save it from the 97.290.000 that voted for this man today Save it, or else I don't what to do Where to hide Where to cry Actually, Above all Do not save this country Just save those people Those minds capable of agreeing with such terrible things Save them And you'll save my country Save them all, worldwide And you'll save this planet Do it otherwise And we're all dummed

Tinder Poem
It's like a blind man leading a poor man He sees the cliff coming but he doesn't mind Grateful to have company on the way down Thinks the cloud they'll fall through will be silver lined It's like the teenager who just gave birth to a still born accident It hurts real bad inside But she's grateful that if she returns all the diapers everybody bought her She might have enough money to buy a prom dress Thinks the pain she feels will be silver lined It's like the boyfriend of the young girl who just gave birth to the still born child Grabs his cleats out the closet Grateful he still has time to get a college scholarship Dumped her over the phone Said he didn't like the way her ***** *** whined Thinks adding another drop to the bucket of pain he will never feel is silver lined It's like a young man who works at a gas station With dreams so big he'd have to run the world to accomplish them Grows up, gets marrieds, gets settled, and settles Knows the only way he'll make the TV is by beating his wife Grateful that strangers know who he is Thinks the jail time he's serving is silver lined It's like the grown man who has everything the boy at the gas station ever wanted Doesn't want it, wishes he could give it back, but can't So he buys houses, clothes, and Cadillacs Grateful to have enough Thinks the silver lining on his silver Cadi is silver lined It's like the overwhelmed twenty something year old who puts a lock on her own knife drawer Too proud to get help Grateful that she has a boyfriend willing to take the brunt Of all the problems she can't see past Thinks the inconvenience of the knife drawer is silver lined It's like the boyfriend of the overwhelmed twenty something year old Who takes the brunt of all the problems she can't see past Grateful he has a key to the knife drawer Thinks the blood on the floor will be enough To show her there's more to the world than the problems she can't see past Thinks his mama's heartache will be silver lined It's like the staunch republican who got laid off last year Now he's so broke he's on unemployment, food stamps, and TANF Grateful the democrats were in control during the great depression Still voted for John McCain Thinks the bumper sticker on the back of his car is silver lined It's like the young family started by a couple kids Who insisted on having a couple of their own Now they're too poor to afford but too rich for assistance Begging their government to bail them out of something that nursery rhymes got them into Grateful their truck didn't break down again this month Thinking raising hungry babies is silver lined It's like a poor man leading a blind man Who knows the cliff is coming Knows they're going over and doesn't really mind Grateful to finally be in the company of someone just as blind as he is Thinking the cloud they'll fall through is silver lined.

While I pretty much opined for this impeachment my fellow Americans voted for this guy and they could be right I’ve been wrong before, stuck as we are with a system that generates some perplexful leaders, democracy being the worst form       of government— except for all the others. Anyone can be president, that’s been proven time and time again. Wars can start for no discernible reason other than radical purity, avarice, cupidity, gluttony, rapacity, even affluenza— meanwhile life goes on outside all around you perhaps you identify as Jewish, Latino, Muslim, Indian or Filipino asexual, cybersexual, somasexual, hypersexual, homosexual, pentasexual it doesn’t really matter, nothing **** matter matters, matter content of life (serious, love it) hate death for the hell of it to see what it’s like inside the heart of darkness. On the twenty third of June, anniversary of my father’s death, The United Kingdom voted to LEAVE the European Union. It was a close-run thing: Fifty two percent to forty eight, Though over a million votes between. A result that will go down in the annals of history. Another vote the pollsters and bookmakers got wrong. I voted Leave, confidently expecting to Lose!!! My friends were split in two As Remainers became ReMOANers! For I’m now branded a nationalist, bigoted racist Who has made a massive mistake. But I insist: Britain has Rejoined the World And Our Commonwealth. We are reborn So sure there will be teething troubles. We’ll have to learn to walk and talk again. Cast off your gloom, Remainers! Rejoice the brand new day. Britain can be great again As the dawn chorus resonates around the globe. Opportunity smiles down on us. It won’t be easy, But when ever was it so??? The Phoenix rises, Unfurling its golden wings… Paul Butters © PB 27\6\2016.

You wonder why my name is spaghetti, It's sounds funny to you. Not quite a long story, But it's all very true. Our tale begins, When I was quite young, Right when spring, had just sprung. Living with my aunt, At the age of two, She brought me to preschool, In her liberal Subaru. My parents left me, If you were curious. They went off to help illegal-aliens, which made me quite furious. Anyway, when I got to my class, We did a bunch of useless work, While the teacher sat fat on her *** After reading some **** called Cat in the Hat, we all went for lunch, to eat some crap. All was going well, In that brick-enclosed hell, but all went wrong with a single song. Some ****** turned on, Some pop music, We all got mad, At that stupid ***** I had enough already, Since my parents had left me, And I was stuck with a woman, Who voted for Hillary. So I got out of my seat, And walked right to the kid, Took my lunch out of my bag, And opened the lid. Inside held the spaghetti, That I was planning to eat. I grasped it in my hand, And planted my feet. I grabbed the fag's neck, shoved the spaghetti down his throat, And before I knew it, He started to choke. Through his espohogus, very far down, The blood gushed out of his mouth, And onto the ground. The kid's eyes rolled back, into his head, until they were white, I knew he was dead. Even though it was over, I continued to go, And throw his body, Out the nearest window. My classmates watched in horror, as the body fell down, Into the road, without making a sound. Then in the street a dump truck went by, Running over the body, And my classmates started to cry. They will never forget that wonderful day. "He killed a kid with spaghetti!" They all started to say.

I'm not depressed I just lack what society coins Common sense I live life in all 3 tenses Because the past Is the blueprint of my fences That reign the present in And I might as well live in the future In case it never does begin For sanity is not measured by statistics The majority's vote does not determine what's realistic For selfishly we work as a whole Only as convenience To reach our own goals The size of our ambitions Define the status of our positions Although this would never reach admission Independence gains ground by submission Failure is measured by how well we cope With the reality of our situations And the absence of hope Success however Is measured by distance Between the final outcome And our feeble existence As we try to conquer life We digress from our true motives Doing whatever it takes To prove ourselves devoted The ballots were never cast Yet we take pride that we voted For the notion that our drive Is all that's keeping us alive Is hidden in our conscience Cuz we don't need it to survive Life is constant, set in stone Yet we are continuously changing Spinning towards the unknown Oblivious Until we're all alone With the thoughts in our minds Releasing the binds Which tie us to the perception Built up by deception That we begin living the moment we are born When instead we don't awaken till we win the war For you can not understand a revolution until you are free Yet you can not be free till you have a revolution

internal conflict
Some voted for freedom from that rusty EU shackle. Discussed immigration issues they were unable to tackle. An establishmentarian North, South divide. When poverty strikes there's nowhere to hide. Deep trenched anger rising from the disenfranchised vote. The pound devalued as the right wing gloat. Uncertain times causes a global ripple. Bank of England acts to avoid economic ******* But what of our neighbours? Our brothers in arms? Democratic victors, do they know who this harms? Young against old, divisions laid bare. Political wrangling, do they really care? The Prime Minister resigns and a new chapter to be written. Democracy wins in a diverse, Great Britain.

Tax the poor and reward the rich This line should be reversed But, the politicians always use this line It's a line they have rehearsed As soon as they are voted in They give themselves a raise When we question what they did this for They just sit there in a daze They use all sorts of doublespeak To tell us all their reasons For taxing poor and elderly The rich are out of season A few cents here, a nickel there No one will notice that While our old folks sit at home Sharing tinned food with their cat Tax the poor and reward the rich This line should be reversed But, the politicians always use this line It's a line they have rehearsed As soon as they are voted in They give themselves a raise When we question what they did this for They just sit there in a daze The veterans they are targets too Their pensions get rolled back They hit those who can't defend themselves Or are too poor to fight back They give out tax cuts to the rich Big business gets the most While our working poor are stuck at home Finding new ways to serve toast They sell our jobs and tax our lives Until we're better dead But then we can't afford to die We've no place to lay our head They sit in ivory towers Looking down on those below Wondering how to get more money in How to make their pockets grow The parties not in power Try their best to make a change But to do that, we need lots of help Parliament must rearrange The way the parties govern The way they ***** the meek There must be changes at the top To help strengthen the weak There's people on the system Who worked hard and did their part Now they can't afford an apple Let alone the apple cart Tax the poor and reward the rich This line should be reversed But, the politicians always use this line It's a line they have rehearsed As soon as they are voted in They give themselves a raise When we question what they did this for They just sit there in a daze So, at the next election Don't just vote because you should Go and vote for something different Go and vote for something good Because your parents vote one colour And you choose to do that too Is not a true democracy You've a choice in what to do If you're voting for the first time Think real hard before you pick All their promises look tasty Until you give them a good lick Remember how your grandpa Said "It was much better when" "We were treated fair and equally" And it can be done again So if Tax the poor and reward the rich Is the motto that you choose I hope that you'll rememer this When you can't afford new shoes The time to change what's wrong is now Start giving money back To those who can't afford to lose The one's who fall between the crack So tax the rich, reward the poor Take the tax cuts all away And make our seniors equal Don't make them be the ones that pay.

Tangible sin, its what i'm looking for let the rants and raves begin cause tongues of fire can never settle for a one line poem or a break in tone they need the blood red of wine in their glass these aristocrats drinking from the lower class we are far too outspoken to speak of silence that's something only the seculars teach Maddness, now there's an idea i can get behind Imagine ideas like countries nuclear weapons at their highest state of alert what we believe is what we once held true and whose finger is this on the trigger? then eventually, yes the tyrants will get voted into office doing away with terms and treaties of old eventually you'll get two shoes per person as you read your generation's scripture like truth from the nearest stall bathroom wall for a good time call, God cause he doesn't charge you per hour well, only on sunday mornings nine to noon but for everlasting life who wouldn't drink that elixir? just one more broken promise cause Buddha told me i'd be back again back again to serve in the same platoon of freedom fighters

Freedom Fighters
I am being pulled from left to right Every candidate claiming to be the light Promising heaven, earth and even twilight Once they win they forget you and take flight. Gun to our heads by the future leader 'Better vote wisely or become a casper' Ballot boxes filled with forged paper Hold your peace or it is a recipe for disaster. If wishes were real, beggars would ride Voted for a meal, while the politicians lied my country is a deal, sold as a cheap bride All they do is steal, it's time to say goodbye. You know we are back to the embers' there's always someone's blood they forget to remember Misshapen chaos of well-seeming forms! We are in a fine mess with honorable villions.

REGRET AT THE POLLING BOOTH
NEW YEAR INTROSPECTION PART THREE *first read "Audition" by Lauren Rogers: http://hellopoetry.com/poem/audition/* far too often,  audition i,  my self i daily  place on parade, call it a model’s runway  or an actor’s stage,  all the while forgetting  already i’ve been given  the part of "me",  having already been deemed most uniquely and completely qualified to play and having already been voted most likely to succeed as an actor of me! and most of all having already been handed the writer’s script, a whole ream, all blank page for me to write and then perform for each of you on life’s beautiful stage; which, begs the question... who called the audition?

life’s stage
I was two years behind Art Garfunkel at Columbia College, but I never met him. Nonetheless, like millions of other people, I consider him to have the most beautiful singing voice of the 20th century. Art's singing of BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER is celestial. I was two years ahead of George W. Bush at Andover, but I never met him. Nonetheless, too many people voted to make him President of the United States twice. W. was not very smart. He did not do well academically at Andover and Yale and Harvard Business School. But his father, George H. W. Bush, had gone to both Andover and Yale, and later became head of the CIA, then Vice President, then President. Legacy was powerful in the 1960s, and still is. I wish I could meet Art Garfunkel and thank him for the enormous pleasure he has given to millions of people. I would never wish to meet W. TOD HOWARD HAWKS
