"roka" poems
Originally written on 26/05/2005.
Hum khud ko ek raat, phir yuhi ek baar, bhool gaye.
Aap nahin to aap ka yaad dilaana hi phir bhool gaye.
Ab to yeh bedaad-e-yaad waqt ke saath sehte sehte,
Khud se daad-e-dard ki umeed-e-intizaar bhool gaye.
Kabhi dhoond te the hum bhi ma'anee apni wajood me,
Lekin raat hui to wajood ka ma'ana hi ab bhool gaye.
Chale the hum na jaane kaha apni ehatimaam-e-yaad ko.
Is ehsaas ne humme roka ke hum gham-e-gharaz bhool gaye.
Humare baat karne par karte hain humare jeene ki tasali.
Koi toh samjhaye ke jeete jeete hum jeena bhool gaye.

One night, once again, I’ve forgotten myself.
You’re not here so I’ve even forgotten your reminders.
Now after putting up with this injustice of memory, over time
I’ve forgotten to wait for the hope of a justice of sorrow, from myself.
Once I used to search for meanings within my identity
But now when night falls, I’ve forgotten the very meaning of my identity.
I don’t know where I was going to sort out my memories,
But this realisation stopped me that I’ve forgotten the very purpose of my sorrow.
By talking about me, they assure themselves that I am alive.
Somebody explain to them that even though I’m alive, I’ve forgotten how to live.

Ki haar gaya tan tan man puakar kar tumhe
Kitne ekaki hai pyar kar tumhe
Ki jis pal haldi lepi hogi tan par maa
Jis pal sakhio ne saupi hongi saugaate
Dholak ki thappo me , ghunghroo ki runjhoon me
Ghulkar faili hongi ghar me pyari baate
Uss pal meethi si dhun , sune kamre me sun
Roye man chausar par haar kar tumhe
Kitne ekaki hai pyar kar tumhe .....
Haar gya tan man ..........re haar gya re..
Kal tak jo humko , tumko milwa deti thi
Un sakhio ke pprashno ne toka to hoga
Saajan ki anjuri par anjuri kaapi hogi
Meri sudhio ne rasta roka to hoga
Uss pal socha man me aage ab jeevan main
Jee lenge hans kar bisaar kar tumhe
Kitne ekaki hai pyar kar tumhe ...
Haar gaya tan man ....re haar gya re
Kal tak jin geeto ko tum apana kahti thi
Akhbaaro me padhkar kaisa lagta hoga
Saawan ki raato me saajan ki bahoon main
Tan to sota hoga par man jagta hoga
Uss pal ke jeene me aanshu *** lene me
Marte hai man hi man maar kar tumhe
Kitne ekaki hai pyar kar tumhe

Chaand chhat pe utaar laaya hoon
Bohot roka samandar ne mujhe

Hello Stranger,
Done with the Roka,
It's a pre-engagement ceremony,

That ring will mark you as mine,
You'll put a ring around my finger too,
And this particular ring will mark me as yours,
We'll be each other's fiancée & fiancé,
I'll make sure that you are fine.
A few weeks after that engagement,
We'll sit in front of the Holy Fire,
And that fire will be our witness,
And so will be the Àgnì Ðévà,
The God of Fire will seal our togetherment.
Right now you're cautious,
Maybe a bit scared too,
You are in the dark,
But so am I, dear,
Don't worry, I won't disappoint you.
And I know that me you won't dishearten,
We'll gel well beyond the physical realm,
The world will soon see us as one unit,
We'll enjoy each day in togetherness,
And it will no longer be an untitled relationship.

wo yaadon hamare befikre pn ki h
jb ersha se koe nataa naa tha
jb hamare muskano m chupa koe dokha na tha
jb khilkhila k hsne s waqt ne hme roka na tha
nahi koe bndhn ki beriyon ne jhkra tha
ab to bndhn ki beriya h
or rok tok ki jangire
wo bchpn ki yaadon ke aate hi
ek masum - schchi si muskaan chere ko khila jaati h
pr ush bchpn k chale jaane ki maeusi aankhon pe lata andhera sa h.
