"resume" poems
Every year we have been witness to it: how the world descends into a rich mash, in order that it may resume. And therefore who would cry out to the petals on the ground to stay, knowing as we must, how the vivacity of what was is married to the vitality of what will be? I don't say it's easy, but what else will do if the love one claims to have for the world be true? So let us go on, cheerfully enough, this and every crisping day, though the sun be swinging east, and the ponds be cold and black, and the sweets of the year be doomed.

Lines written in the days of growing darkness, by Mary Oliver
~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ And so the Pu'erh and Jasmine Lily pearls are covered, my attention on the Phoenix Eye pearls, and I peel back the foil of a small handful. Ainhana had carefully remove the infuser and I pour in the pearls, listening as they gently hit the glass. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ As soon as Ainhana places the infuser back in the tea *** I turn the sand-dial and watch the cream sands run, and the pearls steep. I dare not let it run for the full five minutes - I find the perfect brew is made in three. The pearls now unfurl, the green leaves now floating. The clear water turns into the colour of the finest champagne. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ After three minutes, Ainhara pours me a cup, the aroma itself puts me more at ease. 'Do not waste it,' I tell her, holding the handle and saucer. 'Such fine pearls can be steeped twice, and I will make sure that I treasure every single cup.' 'Yes, My Lady,' She says with a curtsy. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ With my eyes closed, I blow away some steam and proceed to sip short and brief. It is a pleasure that is most welcome, indeed! Teeming with the fires of the Phoenix itself and caressing my tongue with floral sweetness. A delicious moan escapes me as I relax in my Summer Throne. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ My breathing is calmed as I look at the horizon with redolent eyes. The choirs sing as I drink such fine ambrosia! By a cup of Pearls, mine own eyes feel inspired, as I think of the lovely vision that is the Phoenix that is born of the lotus. Adieu, stresses of Court! Adieu, plagues of doubt and anger! Thy Queen is now jocund dove. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ 'Truly the finest Jasmine Pearls I've had in years!' I beam. 'Be sure to share this with my fellow Kings and Queens. Especially Queen Kim. In such a golden hour, we shall become Dream Children, to be lost in gardens of distant China.' 'Yes, My Queen.' Ainhara waves her hand, Semui and Ilazi now resume play. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ As I sip once again, the summer showers come. Lo! My gazebo glistens! Cleansed by the light, and life for my fields of my fair gardens. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ This blend cleanses the fire of my heart. This blend casts out sorrows for me to drink beauty. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ A  liquor the shade of champagne with the flames of life budding from a delicate flavour. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ The Phoenix merges with me, for I am the star of the morn that graces my Aurelinaea! ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~ Such a blend of elegance in my tongue, a heavenly euphony. How I'm forever in awe of the power of my Jasmine Pearls. ~ ⚘ ⚪ ⚘ ~

note to Eliot:
I don’t get feminism. The term, that is. When they ask, "Are you a feminist?" I reply, “Sure.” They nod in bobble-head approval. “I’m also a childist and animalist” A confounded grimace glazes over “Huh?” “Of course. Aren’t YOU a childist? Aren’t YOU an animalist?” “Uh. What do you mean?” “Well, don’t you believe that children and animals should be treated with love?” “Well, naturally.” “Well. There you go. You’re a childist And animalist.” "Besides,  you would extend this love To all sentient beings, I’m assuming?” “Ummm. Yes...” “Well, then, you’re a masculinist too, Just like me!” This is about the time their cell buzzes Or their double soy frap is ready They whisk away “Oh, I’m also a worldist!” I belt out Before they exit As I resume reading Remaining clever, and Alone.

Feminism
When you travel in the car and the journey is too far... Fill the cabinet with all the required stuffs, It will be more exciting when you travel with a group. Raise the woofers up , And eat the tasty stuffs. Just Play the jolly tune, It'll make your lazy mood. When you see something unique, Stop a while and take a click. Still the destination is too far, You're feeling tired and so is your car… It’s time for a short break, stretch your body and take a breathe, When your body gets re-energised, It’s tym to resume your lovely drive, Destination is not always necessary to take, Sometimes the road trip is what we want to make…

Long Drives are amazing!

I can tell he wants me to show him around, take him out and show how him how I get down. He wants me to smile but my face is stuck in a frown. Boy didn’t you notice when I tried taking you out on the town? When we rode with my girl C, you brought your boy V Then the time I got into a fight that nobody even got to see My girl didn’t like you I wonder, how could that be?? Once upon a time you were down to do anything. Rain or shine. Doesn’t matter what we do as long as youre mine. Lately it feels like youre wasting my time. Feels like a one way street. All of a sudden you don’t make me feel like a treat You see I’ve Taken you out You know the life I’m about. Yet we still scream and shout cause now we never seem to get out At least not enough I know at the moment Life feels a bit rough But we can’t be consumed Part of us died Let it be exhumed Dust off our shoulders and hit resume Let’s start living & forgiving Then start stacking up it to the ceiling I thought you were my back up But it’s me that you’re killing We don’t need to go hard or spend money at the bar We don’t even need to go far Let’s go to guitar center and pretend to be stars Im sorry for my ****** mood But if you don’t try We’re *******

1. Fallow brown, like he's poured his whole soul out through the gold sieve and lies in wait to be replenished. 2. The color of the ocean. Blue, I guess, but that’s not even the half of it. All the ruggedness of the waves—forming up, breaking, and forming again like life is only the motions. Her eyes are blue, but you could hardly tell. 3. A hand-painted bowl of fresh chocolate frosting from which the most immature hands soonest get a mouthful. 4. Beautiful. Like, drop dead gorgeous. I’d dig my own grave and stick to rolling in it if she ever looked at me some type of way. Their color? I don’t know. But most of all, I dare to wonder about the bludgeoned scar between them. 5. Sturdy cobalt. Far more indicative of her steady heart than gold could ever hope to be. Still susceptible to tear, but not so easily warped by heat or stress. 6. Simply brown. No, red? It’s always been hard to tell through the fog. Truthful like the rawest earth, I’ll call her mahogany. 7. Faded blue spray paint over a slate gray wall. Forcibly muted after her years of blasting music, but there’s still that rogue twinkle to them that I pray slips through the cracks. 8. Coffee, with all the vim and vigor to make you click your heels and fall in love. 9. Unripe lime seen lazing in the shade. Not fit for a margarita just yet, but straining at the bit nonetheless. 10. Hazel, although I still don’t know what the **** that actually is. Whatever. It looks nice on her resume. 11. Green. Or were they blue? The memories of her were too wonderful, too important, that I had to let the littlest details fade away first. 12. The crystallized seafoam that made me realize I deserved to feel alive, too.

Check back soon to resume and consume every tight-lipped, slack-jawed fool in the room. See, it's all what you know as the fires start to grow and the future burns slow. Keep your eyes on the ceiling, and your antenna feelers feelin', for when your senses stop reeling, you will finally start believing. Kick-back to the basics, not too far from the basement, and close enough to show that **** really isn't basic. It's another mid-west, ****** ******** freak show. Another evening drinking whiskey with the seedling's peep-show. So, it's time to relax and relapse into acidified broken synapse. The lights keep flickering and the couples keep bickering: ***** I am not above homicidal snickering.” I steer clear of these diversions, and wander past the sermons, just to chew up all the crooked talk and spittle out inversions. I shovel mockery to hypocrisy, pin-prick the empty ***** whose passions lack predicates, and in the background, I'll be complexifying my medic-kit: ketamine, morphine, ecstasy; marijuana, mushrooms, LSD. Watch those ******* jitter-bug college ***** procreate while sloppy drunk, but keep an honest eye on the flies that will rise above – then fall back down in existential angst, like: “Dear God, why must I be free? Oh, God! Why is every universal eye on me? I'm just another acid war veteran, sneakin' through these gutters with pestilence and bitter sin. When they reach the promised land of golden clouds and holding hands, I'll be underground with the slugs and the spider band.” Yet here I sit, sick of sippin' poisons with illiterates. So, let the skies fall and the buildings crash, as you stand on the wall with a fist full of cash. I'll be on the front lawn, picketing for dawn, while the night around me slowly ambles on.

I Am Not a ****
(1) There’s one thing I must get off my chest that’s bothered me now even 50 years on with the passage of time – my English teacher then she always told me when I grumbled homework was too difficult, she’d tell me: “That’s a piece of cake” And I’d go home discombobulated how anyone could eat paper or homework and she said this not once, but every time: “It’s a piece of cake” (2) And my parents and I looked at it every which way and from every point of view and concluded in our Perfect Ancient Native language: *“This English teacher is a loony. She is wooly-headed. She is the lamb Mary lost, silly and muddle-headed. How can homework be a piece of cake? Anyway, we don’t eat cake – we eat samosas.”* (3) And yet the English teacher would put her nose up in the air and remonstrate: “It’s a piece of cake!” Oh yeah, would you like tea with it? Now, my parents, bless their Ancient Souls, have gone on into the next world And I’m left wondering about the secret madness of that English teacher who’d ask me to eat cake when I expressed genuine concern… Well, my parents have passed on, as I said, and I’ve moved on as is plain and radiant to see to master idioms and vocabulary Punctuation, the catenative verb and Usage; and, as for that wooly-headed English teacher, I’m sure she’s moved on into a comfortable nuthouse where the staff makes her eat her cake, and make her think she can have it too - cos that’s what they do to nuts, and such instances (4) And now that I have got that off my chest, I can comfortably resume memorizing Volume 3 of theOxford Dictionary as  I perambulate and copy 100 entries from Fowler’s “Modern English Usage” as I victulate which is all part of my nightly ritual since she told me to do so some 50 years ago (cos I happened to look at her Union Jack knickers when she sat high on the table, and I stood up ***** cos that's what they made us do in the cinemas) - and that helps to put me into a state of dormancy, to hibernate till the sun ushers in a new day for me  – and a new cake for that wooly-headed English teacher, she, I can presume with certainty, elegantly reposed and superannuated Now, I’m glad I’ve got this off my chest and mastered my idioms and phrases and I can go eat my samosas

In vain to me the smiling mornings shine, And redd’ning Phoebus lifts his golden fire: The birds in vain their amorous descant join; Or cheerful fields resume their green attire: These ears, alas! for other notes repine, A different object do these eyes require: My lonely anguish melts no heart but mine; And in my breast the imperfect joys expire. Yet morning smiles the busy race to cheer, And new-born pleasure brings to happier men: The fields to all their wonted tribute bear; To warm their little loves the birds complain: I fruitless mourn to him that cannot hear, And weep the more, because I weep in vain.

Sonnet On The Death Of Mr Richard West
Lisbeth stands watching The artist as he prepares To sketch. Her elder sisters Stand in shadows whispering. Her younger sister plays With her doll on the floor. Their father said to do as The artist instructed and Don’t misbehave or be rude. The artist stares hard his Dark eyes searching their Every move and expression And body gesture. The elder Girls mutter in shadows Their hands over their mouths Their blue eyes like shallow Pools. Ready? The artist Asks putting charcoal to Paper his fingers blackening. Lisbeth says just as we are? The artist nods. His grim Features express do not disturb. The youngest sister plays Ignoring the artist her eyes set On the game at hand. The girls In shadow turn their profiles Set to mystery their hands on Their abdomens like guardians Of virtue. Lisbeth wonders as She watches the artist’s stiff Moustache and beard the slow Movement of his mouth as he Mouths words and stares hard. The last artist employed some Year before younger and less Brutal in expression and manner Had drawn them each in private Rooms and set them down on couch Or bed and kept their images inside His head. He was dismissed and the Drawings destroyed and nothing said. Lisbeth had thought it just a game Something done as lover might in Private corners or lonely spots on Quiet nights. The artist sketches. His blackened fingers move and Made their mark. Their images Captured. The scene set. One sister In the shadows yawns the other Stares in still contempt. Lisbeth Poses as young girls do. Nothing To show of interest and nothing Hid no secret self no other you. That’s it the artist says we’ll begin The painting another day maybe Next week if all is well. The girls In shadow look away and resume Their secret games. Lisbeth studies The artist’s blackened fingers as He rolls the charcoal sketch and Puts away. He gazes at her standing By herself a glimpse of smile and Glimmer in her eyes like small fires. He closes the tired lids of eyes And smoulders down his old desires.

728 Let Us play Yesterday— I—the Girl at school— You—and Eternity—the Untold Tale— Easing my famine At my Lexicon— Logarithm—had I—for Drink— ’Twas a dry Wine— Somewhat different—must be— Dreams tint the Sleep— Cunning Reds of Morning Make the Blind—leap— Still at the Egg-life— Chafing the Shell— When you troubled the Ellipse— And the Bird fell— Manacles be dim—they say— To the new Free— Liberty—Commoner— Never could—to me— ’Twas my last gratitude When I slept—at night— ’Twas the first Miracle Let in—with Light— Can the Lark resume the Shell— Easier—for the Sky— Wouldn’t Bonds hurt more Than Yesterday? Wouldn’t Dungeons sorer frate On the Man—free— Just long enough to taste— Then—doomed new— God of the Manacle As of the Free— Take not my Liberty Away from Me—

Let Us play Yesterday
So ends the Drama locked into your Bronze Nike kisses you and shows you her Womb Who, despite Angry Lads, live Life's Beyond Now Married are you to Testimony I guess you will survive the Afterthought Of Promos and Parcels you will not Resist The Wheel turns again; And in your Forenaught Honest Advices refuse to make a Fist You have this Resume of Deaf-Record, Partial to Characters you do not Like Even if they ask Penance for your Accord Your Self-Righteousness slaps them in-spite. What's the use? Your Friends will come to your Defense Even if an Ant like me Stings to make Sense.

SONNET TRIBUTE SUNDRY - FIFTY - TOM DALEY
What an ironic place of mind When something I've wanted for awhile Finally presents itself And I'm overwhelmed so intensely By anxiety and sadness How long have I hoped to meet up? How many times had I mentioned coffee? Yet here I am Three days before I see you For the first time in a year and a half And I feel so sad It's as though I am finally mourning the loss Of someone who was my best friend Finally letting myself feel about you All of the things I've repressed It has been a long time We both must be so different now What would that mean for this? Do we meet up once Play a game of catch up Then resume the path of strangers? Or do we try to be friends again And run the risk of pain and heartache? Does our intense shared anxiety At just the sight of each other Signal a similar message A similar desire within us both? Or am I stuck within a fantasy Lying to myself that this could work That you could be in my life again We were not made to be lovers And I don't believe in happenstance I do think we came together for a reason Just as we've become reconnected now The city may be small But this has to be more than coincidence You were my best friend back then And I know I hurt you deeply But part of me hasn't stopped believing That our lives staying connected Is something that's meant to be And I know that When I'm sitting anxiously in my car Outside the cafe where we're set to meet Thoughts racing faster than my heart beats I'll have to fully prepare myself To find out that you disagree

If I am kindling, you must be the spark... Much alive in the darkest dark, lifting all shadows with finesse and flair.      If I am flame,      you must be the air and wind...      Unfettered and free...      Cradling my infancy.      Only to nurture and inspire,      to groom flame to fire. If I am faltering... And almost extinguished, you must be the hand... Bearing the confidence and belief... Awaiting the moment most opportune, to align yourself in rhythm and tune. So we could... Continue to burst forth into light. So we could... Resume our journey forth with might.      Let us be our own deterrent      from the darkness      that comes with morrow's set.      Hand in hand, we must...      Because together...           And only together,    we're...                         incandescent.

Plush and Prim is your White, Feathery Plume Soft the Inertia of your Thighs update I pray this time, your Victory resume, Revive your Year's Fortress not far too late In your eyes you reject the Gambler's View For no such Attitude ever won Hearts The Paddles you took - timed and faster blue Were enough for us to make Key Remarks This Beauty, defined as Hair-Painted Wind, Tad effort needed to brush your Canvas red Pour out! Pour out! Pour, Passion's Purest Sprint And let your Spirit drape these Words instead: I'll just be right here, cheering for your Cause Whether win or lose my Soul will not pause.

SONNET TRIBUTE: VICTORIA PENDLETON
“Completely under the impression she would resume her status outside” he thought.. maybe my own words betrayed me as the knife entered Brutus Unhinged, could the mind play a game, it saw the movies but did it Saw 5? Animals huddled around the man made entry salivating at the idea of another chance, ravenous they paced hungry for a sole sight   What could be for dinner? If an appearance not made would both beings have to consider drastic measures. A voyage? A continental trip to parts unknown? Meeting ghosts are not my style but Anthony Bourdain was surely welcome. Was that a twitch from the **** all beings in the area stood at attention awaiting a response from the opening. Informal gestures and gazing eyes they dampen any doubts of their desires. “How dare they keep us waiting” the impatient thoughts arose out of the sandy concrete mixture. Those who knew of the situation stood steadfast and steady — this might be it No “read” stamp, hope has begun to dwindle. I too wished of a different outcome but life demands transitions.

Betrayal (texts to a wife who’s abandoned her husband)
130 These are the days when Birds come back— A very few—a Bird or two— To take a backward look. These are the days when skies resume The old—old sophistries of June— A blue and gold mistake. Oh fraud that cannot cheat the Bee— Almost thy plausibility Induces my belief. Till ranks of seeds their witness bear— And softly thro’ the altered air Hurries a timid leaf. Oh Sacrament of summer days, Oh Last Communion in the Haze— Permit a child to join. Thy sacred emblems to partake— They consecrated bread to take And thine immortal wine!
