The bond of love The bond of Trust
The festival which truly celebrates
the bond between a brother and a sister (siblings and cousins)

Celebrated in the month of August on a full moon day(purnima)
Known as Rakhi Purnima

Rakhi-The sacred thread ,
which the sister ties on the wrist of her brother .
This festival is known
as Raksha Bandhan

Raksha - means to protect
Bandhan - To be bound (Bond)
Raksha Bandhan - The Bond of Protection
A festival celebrated by Hindus all over the country.

The Celebration
The sister buys a Rakhi for her brother
Prepares or buys sweets for her brother .
On the auspicious morning ,
The brother and sister both deck up in their traditional fineries.

The sister readies a plate full of sweets ,
with a little vermilion soaked in water
along with a few rice grains ,  to be applied as vertical mark (tilak) on the brother's forehead.
Believed to blessings from the lord .
A lit lamp for aarti
and the Rakhi(sacred thread) which she ties on the brother's wrist ,
wishing him the best .

The brother in return promises to look after her and presents her with gifts .

* This is not a poem , more of an account of the festival and the celebration.
With time and distances it is not always possible to bring in the festival together.
However, the sister mails across the Rakhi  to the brother, as I did :)
*

Have beautiful memories of this festival from my younger days , celebrated with siblings and cousins alike .

Thank you all for reading !!
This year ,The  festival is on 7th of August , that's today .
Happy Raksha Bandhan to all brothers and sisters ..

Rakhi-
The thin invisible thread ties you to my heart

Although we are far away,
You're remembered on special day!

Rarely we meet,
Occasionally I greet!

Infrequent visits,
But the bond exists.

Occupied with liabilities,
You figure last in the priorities!

Since ages, the thread not tied,
Everytime, the plan not materialized.

Feeling sad for absence in your needs,
But deep inside my heart bleeds.

Nothing else I could say,
For your wellbeing, I just pray!

Understand! I am for apart,
But a thin thread ties you to my heart!
Rakhi...
A festival of brother and sister in india..
A thread (rakhi) representing everlasting bond is tied by the sister on brothers wrist.
I miss my brother who is sick and alone.
But due to my family and Ofc commitments i couldn't be there!
Missing! My brother!
Aapke saath bitiya har pal hai khubsurat,
Aapka masoom sa chehra hai khuda ki murat.

Bahut yaad aa rhi hai aapki,
Talaash rahi aapko nazre meri.

Wo aapka muskurana jab kehte hum awaaz aa rahi,
Har lamha itna khubsurat hai in palkon mein yaadein sanjo rakhi.

Aapse shuru hota hai hamara har ek kadam,
Beintehaa mohaabat hai aapse saath rahenge har janam.

Bs ek dua hai us uparwale se,
Aap humesha salamat rahe.

Mohabbat hi nahi zindagi bhi ** meri,
Ye dadhakne aapko pukar rahi.

Khuda se maangi huyi ** mannat,
Aapke saath har pal hai jannat.

Meri duniya ** aap,
Har takleef lete ** bhaap.

Bin kahe sab samjh jaate,
In aankhon ko kaise padh lete?

Dil se jude jazbaat hain gehre,
Aapke aane se khil uthte chehre.

Meri taqdeer, meri jaan ** aap,
Ek geet ka khubsurat alaap.

Wohi pyar ka mandir ** aap, mera jaha,
Jise humne dil se humesha chaha.

Mahadev jaisa ** humsafar,
Chale jo saath har dagar.

Humesha se chaha tha humne,
Us talaash ko poora kar diya aapne.

Paavan pavitra rooh se jude hain is qadar hum,
Jaise saanso se dadhakta hai dil har dum.

Is dadhakte dil ki awaaz ** tum,
Aapse poore hote hain hum.

Pyaasi nigahon ka ** Qaraar,
Saji mehfilon ki bahaar.

Milne ki fariyaad mein dil ka intezaar,
Meri zindagi ka pehla aur aakhiri pyaar.

Shiddat se chahta hai ye dil aapko,
Saare jaha ki khushiyan aapke kadmo mein **.

Mehfooz rakhna mere humsafar ko mere khuda,
Is sacchi mohabbat ka karu sir jhuka kar mai har pal sajda.

Pavitra rishta hai hamara,
Is dil se juda hai dil tumhara.

Zindagi ka har khwaab pure **…
Wo zaruri nahi hota,
Khwaishein hai.. bahut saare.. humarae dil me,
Jo toote khwaab jaise.

Adure khwaab … adure khwaishein jaise,
Jo kabhi kisi ke liye maye ne nahi raheta,
Or shayed mere liye bhi nahi…
Ya dar ne humko rokh rakha hai.
Janjiron ne humko baandh rakhi hai…
Jaane kya pata hum kabhi janjiron se nikal payenge bhi ya nahi…!

Kahete hai waqt hum sabko badal deti hai,
Shayed hume bhi…!
Kya hum kabhi humare toote khwaab…
Khwaishiyon ko puri kar bhi payenge bhi…
Ye fhir… sab aduree hi rahe jayegi…
Ye toh waqt hi humko batayega..!
In the quiet thread of Rakhi's grace,
Lies a bond no time can erase.
A promise wrapped in silk so pure,
Of love that forever will endure.

Beyond the playful jests and cheers,
There’s a truth that whispers through the years.
Life teaches, in its gentle way,
That bonds of heart can never fray.

A sister’s strength, a brother’s shield,
In life’s great battle, neither yield.
For in this bond, we truly find,
The lessons that reshape the mind.

When storms of life come raging through,
It’s love that guides, it’s love that’s true.
And like the Rakhi, strong yet thin,
It’s the simple things that let us win.

So cherish every thread you weave,
In bonds of love, choose to believe.
For Raksha Bandhan’s silent art,
Is life's lesson: protect the heart.
Written on occasion of Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi .. for those who don't know .. Raksha Bandhan is a traditional Indian festival where sisters tie a decorated thread called a "Rakhi" around their brothers' wrists, symbolizing protection and love. In return, brothers promise to protect and cherish their sisters. It’s a day that blends playful sibling rivalry with deep familial bonds. While it started as a brother-sister tradition, it's evolved to include anyone you care for, celebrating the idea of safeguarding each other. Essentially, it’s a day where love and obligation intersect with a dash of cultural flair.

I've got a handsome brother
Like I have, you may have to
Each day, I weave off his negativity
By praying to god sincerely
His life stays longevous
Never shall he get upset unnecessarily
This thread, is a protection virtue
Never get upset, this heart gets upset to
Whether am far or near
Don't you forget this lives praxis
Brought 'rakhi' with love to tie on your wrist
Brought you lots of sweets and gifts
Let me embrace your forehead with sandlewood powder and wave this lighted lamp upon you
Tying this thread and serving these sweets
This day comes once a year with treats
My brother, remaining years of my life
I wish, be bestowed upon you...

*Raksha Bandhan*
Hai ek salona, bhai hamara
Jaisa hai mera, shayad waisa ** tumhara
Roz mein uski nazar utaroon
Bhagwaan se mein prathna karoon
Jeewan uska rahe salamath
Kabhi wo mujhse, bewaja roothe math
Hai ye dhaga, raksha bandhan
Dukhi math hona, dukhta hai maan
Mein paas hoon ya dur
Tum bhul na jana jeewan ka dastur
Layi hoon iss rakhi mei bhar kar pyar
Barfi, jalebi, peda aur ye uphaar
Tilak lagaoon, arti utaroon
Dhaga bandhoon aur methayi khilaoon
Din ye saal mein, ek baar aye
Bhai, meri umar bhi tumhe lag jaye...

Rakhi
Festival of brother and sister
It honours the bond between siblings

When sisters tie beautiful
Sacred threads on her brother's wrist with lot of good wishes

Today both brother and sister
Ready for this fervour

She tied rakhi and asked for gift

He picked another beautiful thread
Fixed on her wrist

We both will take care of each other
Care when in need
Will support indeed
Protect each other from all problems

I promise you
I will be honest on my part

One and one will become eleven
If you stand parallel to me

You are not timid and weak
You are as strong as me

I take you to gym
To teach you safety skills

I teach you math
To make your calculations strong

I teach you English
To give wings of expression

I teach you science
To understand  the chemistry of life

I teach you bio
To understand the function of Xylem and Phloem
To train
which emotions you have to send in Xylem
Which in phloem

Come my dear sister
Stand with me
We together will nurture
Our family

Best companion to a sister,
Yes I am talking about a brother.
The month of August is what,
Most people eagerly wait for.
How beautiful the day is,
When a saves his pocket money for his dear sis.
How wonderful it is to see all sisters,
Choosing the best Rakhi for their brothers.
A bro is the best gift of God,
Having one is really a proud.
The one who can make his sis girl cry,
But can't see a single tear because of someone other.
Fighting, arguing and then loving,
That's why this relation is pleasing.
Elder or younger,
A brother should be there.
Luckiest  to have a few of them by my side
Who are always there for me any time
Elders to act like dad,
Younger to get scolded by dad.
Elder to teach us,
Younger to tease us.
And the best one is of same age,
Who helps uh in every stage.
No words to explain,
How much I love them.
Can fight with the world,
Just for them.

Mare Hayaat Ka Hasil Ha Tare Dar Ki Zeaarat

Gungashat Se Lafzoun Mein Khuli Mehdhat Ki Besharat

Nukta Bhi Gawara Nai Tare Naam Ke Sahat

Khalik Ne Ajab Rakhi ha Tujh Mein Taharat

Ranjash Mein Dooba Ha Mera Khoof e Dil

Ab Dil Pe Bhi ** Jaaye AAQA Ki Enayaat

DiloJigar Kiyoun Lafaz Kushan Hain Mare

Amjid Ko Bhi Hasil ** Tare Dar Ki Sahadat..

Mare Hayaat Ka Hasil ha Tare Dar Ki Zearaat.... .
Share mare hi the..
O that day
When both of us
Had swung
On that swing
Entangled with
Garlands of flowers
O those memories
Sometimes
In some moments
Are relived in my mind
O don't forget!
O that day in the air was there
O my mind's confession
Mixed perfectly!
O in the skies
Was scattered
The comparison
Of your smiles!
While going
On the path
In the night
Of the full moon
The moon had risen
In the skies
O I had met you
You had me
Who knows
In which great moment?
No more is it
My time
Will I so

Bear the load of longing
Solely!
O the rakhi(string of affection around the wrist)
Which I had tied
In the depths of your soul
Don't open it
Oh no,no no.....

Anna,
You were there at my lowest,
And at my highest too!
I sure know you'll be there,
Even if the sky isn't blue!
Badly wish that I met you soon,
Daydream about how days would be!
Death by chocolate made me wish,
For more of its deaths!
Hated corona for eating away,
A college fest we could have had!
Cause of you Anna,
My mornings became more wiser,
I became a little less quiet,
And I got lots of friends!
No number of thank yous are enough,
To you dear Anna, so please do stay!
Let's keep improving each other,
Together, in every other way!
Feel so happy that I'm in your life,
And thankful to God for giving me,
Such a wonderful brother,
So I can have more rakhi gifts😉
Happy 22nd birthday my dear Anna!
