I am no longer the Steady thrum of heartbeats When issues against women are Comically displayed on televisions. Like there's something to Laugh, guffaw, snicker, snort-- Tell you what, I can name a little Too many synonymous words And I can slap them all to your face, too. I am no longer a suppressed voice, Unable to tell you and all the other people That as a girl (and a woman, later), I have the right to be here. I have the same rights to life, To be alive, to be secure, To have a good life! And yet, you, who calls yourself a Man of power, tells me, "You are nothing." I am angry with the absurdity Of it all. Men continuing to abuse, Women constantly cowering down-- Why are you so intent on showing power When you are not God? Why are you so afraid of fighting For yourself? I am seething with rage For those who refuse to accept Feminism just for the reason That they do not want to be labeled-- Well, guess what? They have already Shoved you underneath Weak and Submissive. Who taught you that you are born To impress men? Who taught you that you only exist To please them? I will not have any of that **** I am a person of my own. I am a human being, with rights. And I AM FIGHTING to have The same rights as you do. Whoever told you that that's Never gonna happen, can shove it up Their ***** I will not sit still on my chair while The next police officer Asks "Well, what were you wearing?" To the next **** victim. You and I both know that is not The issue here. No girl should hung their head in shame That they got touched without consent. It's not their fault! No one Deserves to be ***** And no, it's not snuggling, for you who Even thought **** jokes on t-shirts Are funny. It's not. I am for Gender Equality. For both men and women, Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, To be treated with equal respect. With equal opportunities. With equality. With no judgment. Why must you counter that? Look, I've been sitting in that same chair For too long while issues spread and get Larger like the plague. I thought, let them handle it. I thought, a small voice would be of no help. But when did sitting down and staring Get people somewhere? When did any of passivity help us? We already have everything to lose So why not fight? Bruce Banner told the other avengers The secret of Hulk. And I tell you the same: Get angry. Smash inequality. I will always be right behind you.

To all the goodbyes I say goodnight To everyone that dies I hope it's bright To everyone; With a razor Hand of pills Tied rope Dangling keys Extreme height below Finger over a light trigger Electricity at hand Open propane tank Empty plate, with full glass Stop, think about who you're leaving behind I know my words aren't going to stop you, but just read Did you bother to write and leave a note? Is it worth it then? Saying you're sorry, knowing you'll leave someone behind? Stop. Think about why you're doing it Do you have nobody? Think about your opportunities that'll fly past The chance of ever meeting someone? Did you lose someone? Think about if you'll actually see them again? Being bullied? Fight back, with whatever you have Life shoved you down? No, I'm not asking you to get up! I'm telling you to get your *** into a nap Think about all the possibilities that might not be Think of all the opportunities and people in the future Think of your legacy Think of anything except the pain Now balance the pain and everything else Want to jump? Skyfall Want to shoot? Paintball and games Want to hang? Bungee Want to overdose? Take 10% of it and party Suffocate in propane gas, or blow up? Cook a nice meal, invite a friend or family. Surround yourself. No friends and family? Find a friend, build a family. Want to speed wrong side of the road? Speed on the right side of the road and get carried with the wind, do it over again Want to cut yourself? Cut off the pain and wrong influences Electrocute yourself? Rather save electricity and watch a good movie with friends or family. Have none? Watch a movie alone, play a game online. Make friends, build a family Want to starve yourself so you can get drunker and finally forget it all, when your liver gives in? Eat a lot more, blow off some steam at the gym and build a body that girls/guys would like, attract them and make new friends. Drink with friends. I've tried many things, some of them didn't work out, or I couldn't stay awake longer. Create new dreams if the old ones died. Work hard for them. Achieve something "At least leave a ******* legacy behind" is what my bestfriend, Steph used to say "You can get out of this alive, but maybe a little ****** up, but anything damaged can be repaired" My bestfriend Josh used to say "Life can carry you away without what you thought you needed" my bestfriend Divene used to say Even more quotes from people I've lost in my life, so I ask you just think about it all Still going through with it? Remember it's a one way ticket

Dear insecure, emotional, overthinking young man you've come a long way from way back then you've lost a lot - but had to realize "who hasn't?" your strong will seemed to be mistaken a lot from your passion you've missed out on a lot of love by second guessing & never unmasking why weren't you truly ever satisfied... nah, that's the question that I'm asking... your abandonment issues pushed away the potential of something ever lasting constantly fighting the man in the mirror hopefully with your new life - you see things clearer no one ever knew, with you...who they were gonna get you've missed out on a lot of good times wanting to talk instead of just letting it go and enjoying the time you had left. Your favorite pills were self pity, self indulgence, ignorance and regret you never stopped to listen - stopped talking - hopefully now you allow others words to be said no woman stood a chance... you purposely acted a certain way to avoid the possibility of true love discretely pushing them away until they saw nothing and had enough. don't get me started on your lack of living missed out on a lot of trips, chances and opportunities I hope now you've filled that void that is missing you swore happiness was wealth... power...a line of respect little did you know it was the little things; the calm, the moments the people and things in life worth it and willing to invest. you gave up on a few dreams... figured why fight? countless times your mind would just run... keep you up all night you were so afraid of success... honestly, I never knew why you never freed that little boy trapped - stuck in his father's grasp he was begging for freedom, you left him struck inside everyday was another day you thought was your time. **I hope you live now I hope you see the beauty life truly is I hope you found love I hope you found this** I needed to write this letter to you - so you can see how far you have come you can see that change is real you can see all that you have become Bland Douglas Simpkins, that's the man you should be proud to be no matter what challenges you were faced with those obstacles were needed, needed to make it to this me thank those who've came into your life - not all were meant to last some forced you left - others showed you right no matter what, some were needed in your past. So... Dear future self, please understand - I'm sorry. For all that I put you through the truth remains - that without me - just know... there would be no you.

The Sonnet on: Life
Never be ashamed of your native language Say those beautiful Phrases and words Loud and proud. Do not let anyone stop you from speaking Let your voice be Heard and recognized Don't you dare let anybody make fun of your accent Embrace the thickness Don't ever lose grasp of it. For it is one of the precious treasure You could ever hold on to After leaving your homeland To start a new life in a foreign country That offers you a whole lot of new opportunities. Hold on to your mother tongue As tight as you can Because this new country you now live in Will do its very best to change your identity And oppress your culture. So it be French or Spanish Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilonggo Greek, Punjabi, Hindi, Sinhalese Arabic, Vietnamese, Portuguese German or Russian And any other language there is in the world. It has exquisite words that just cannot be simply translated into English For it has far greater meaning behind it It is very much well-written Alluring to one's eye and Spoken eloquently and gracefully That the English language is not able to compare To your admirably and enticing Well-spoken mother tongue.

your mother tongue.
A heart that is pure, Will be forever more. A symbol of cleanliness and love, Lies the color white, from above. Friendship and trust, With never a fuss. Glory and unity, For numerous opportunities. Happiness excells, With riviting stories to tell. A heart so bright, Deeply reflects the color white.

"A heart of white"
Really? Well, don’t be, because it doesn’t help to be sorry. Sorry doesn’t change it. Sorry doesn’t make it go away. Sorry doesn’t “undo” what’s already been done. Sorry doesn’t erase my memory. Sorry doesn’t take away the searing pain in my chest. Sorry ***** I don't want your pity or to hear that no child should ever have to endure what I did. Because **** happens. It happened to me …it happens to millions of other kids. Shoulda…woulda…coulda… You’re right – I do have so much going for me. I have an education, a career, financial security – the beautiful house w/the picket fence, the 2 kids and the dogs. And it’s all a huge sham! You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the girl. And that’s what I’m to be commended for??? That doesn’t make me special. I should be commended because I have an education? Things could sure be a lot worse, huh? I could be a crack ***** living on the street with 10 kids in foster care, unable to afford therapy even if I wanted to go. I could be like “them”. Wow! I’m so awesome. Yay for me! Kudos to the smart chick that spent years being molested by her father and ACTUALLY made something of her life. It’s a miracle! It’s all such a sham – a dog and pony show. Smoke and Mirrors, my dear! Put on a stylish outfit, and paste on a cheerful smile, and everyone thinks you have it all together….. No one would ever know different. You wouldn’t have known. If I’d have kept my big fat mouth shut!!!!! I should have known better….I should have sat down and weighed the risks, possible opportunities, the roadblocks the problems, and definitely a cost analysis of plan A – trying to work through the ******** of the past, B – continue to live in denial, C – **** myself. …. That’s what a smart business woman would have done. And after all, I’m super smart, huh? A real genius!

When we look into today, *Do our minds dial back to 16 June '76 to envision the torment Our fallen heroes endured? Is your vision blurred? Mine isn't. Their fight was just, It was sacrificial One by one they perished But, even with blood and sweat slipping Through their trembling fingers They did not falter They pushed boundaries In order to create opportunities They had a burning desire For something greater, For freedom The freedom that we now bask in Like it's just another day of leisure "The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow", they say Look in the mirror, Are you really the leader of tomorrow? Do you fit somewhere in that statement? Me: No Do we have the will to stand Firm for what's right, Against what's wrong Or do we clam up, let the Truth escape through broken doors? We feed the stereotypes, We fit perfectly into the stereotypes We've been dubbed insubstantial, Not layered, and one dimensional What are we really after? What are we doing to change that perspective? No- what am I doing to change that?? Ask yourself, what would the world have lost if you were not born? Me: Nothing But there are those who understand that the meaning of "struggle" Goes beyond the dictionary definition, Those who look at the world With crystal clear eyes Those looking to make a difference Those looking for a difference We may be in freedom, but we're not free at all The chains are still bound to our Wrists binding us from reaching Out to the sun, The chains are still tied to our Feet hindering us from going further We can stand united Against the ****** government, Against illiteracy, Against poverty, Against pointless wars, Against abuse. We can clench up our fists, Ready to fight for what others Led way for I am, by no means, a beacon of Hope (hypocrisy at it's best) I'm uninformed, like they say Ignorance is bliss But I am not proud of it We've come far since '94 We still can go further "Together we can do more"*

The most important things in life are often those we have to choose from at critical times.  They very often represent and determine the course our life will take and to what extent we have in controlling or shaping it.  With whatever choice we make, opportunities arise and by making the most of these we realise the relative benefits to be gained or otherwise.  Through our committment and willingness to achieve a goal, irrespective of what obstacles there may be or we come across, we move forward and progress is made in our endeavour.  If the goal is something we have set our mind and heart on whatever setbacks or obstacles are encountered should then be taken to be the hurdles to overcome. By repeated experience we learn the necessary disciplines with which to train or involve our mind and body to reach our goal. When we recognise and forego or sacrifice certain habits that are not conducive to our overall progress we release more energy by which to accomplish our end.  By sustained right effort we put in motion the train of events that will bring about the right results, but we should not be too attached to the fruits thereof.  Too much attachment is a cause of blindness, disappointment and suffering.  However with the right mental attitudes including positive thinking and actions we should learn from and leave behind past failures by always striving onwards to our desired objective or set goal. The best way to achieve this end is to include in some way the benefit and good of all those concerned whether they be friend or otherwise which will not be easy but will exhibit a spirit of high ethical standards and character and contribute to endearing oneself to others. _______________________________________________________________

Prose: Achieving Our Goal

Someday we'll all be dead And we'll be sitting in our graves wondering where the time went It's no so much a problem; it's just a shame when you realised How many wasted opportunities passed you by and you didn't blink an eye Take the cute guy opposite you for example You let him just walk away With a thousand possible outcomes from one word, "hello" But maybe in a parallel universe, an alternate reality, you ran off the train with him And just took a chance And maybe you wouldn't be lying in a grave regretting The boy with the blue eyes opposite you on the train

Blue Eyed Boy
Time isn't wasted at the end of the day When you're in bed thinking about all the things You could've done, You could've said, All the empty boxes left on your to do list Time is wasted When you're standing on a rock at the edge of a waterhole And decide to not jump When you're sitting in your car trying to justify reasons For not going in When you anxiously hit backspace Instead of expressing how you truly feel When you ignore your heart that's screaming "You deserve better." It's lost in I could have and I should have, In missed opportunities, In letting fears override judgement Time is not necessarily wasted In passing minutes, months, years We waste time by Counting seconds, And by letting seconds pass When we could've made Those seconds count

Don't Forget To Live
People like doors And people are like doors. People like to be open To new people and New experiences. People like to be closed So they can keep themselves Free of unruly things like Feelings and protect themselves From getting hurt. People like to open doors To new opportunities and Things that will make them feel secure Or jettison them into success. People like to close doors Behind them so that you can't follow When they decide that you're not good enough And walk away from you.

As her rest became a permanent slumber Her garden is left a mess A mess of everything that is wrong A mess of broken promises A mess of missed opportunities A mess of lost memories She was once a beautiful flower Now all that's left are weeds

Weeds
Stories browsed by the bedside of budding of children Told of all the adventure that awaited us So I ran amok with my compatriots Every one of us wreathed in youth Burning with the boundless fuel Of curiosity From the streets spilled opportunities Of Fame, Of Wealth, Of Love Then eventually the Sun rays Bent Before bleeding upon the stone So that we traversed on bricks of yellow Until sore legs led us To an enchanted emerald mirror And as we stared we began to wheeze Seeing a frail old wizard or witch Wondering “why” with a whimper As curtains cradling clocks, crash upon us

The Whimsical kneeling to Wisdom
I start to answer her question, She seems taken aback. I rattle off my list. “Witty comments, An easy found laughter… I like competitiveness That’s wraps itself around playfulness, Like I want to wrap myself around His big found epiphanies. Symphony of intellectual connecting’s and Good intuition. A quick reaction time, helping you step away Before **** has had time to hit the fan. Eagerness to help other human beings… Taking advantages of opportunities instead of people Charisma that is unselfish in its tendency to be noticed. Awareness of one’s self. a knack for insightful observing.” These a list of things I find attractive But yes he also has a nice jaw line It traces lovely underneath a finger tip But it’s a faraway line on a map That has eloquently plotted out his most beautiful parts It’s faded and dim in comparison to the additional obvious existing’s It is so far from those parts of him I find to be most beautiful That I hardly understand how out of all of it That was the only thing you really responded to. The only part of the map you related enough to To point to and say I have been there.

Replaying a riff four times perfectly One missed fret and the entire day ends disastrously Replaying moments of kindness and warmth To overcome the feverish idea that I hold no heart Every fourth step, threes end in ****** Maimed images constantly creep This subconscious ludovico technique These thoughts come and go in no particular order A seat at the table and a serviette on my lap What if I leapt out my chair and suddenly attacked? What if I aimed the knife towards my hand? I constantly question if that’s who I am I will have a picnic with her today, all joy and cheer When these intrusive thoughts will inexplicably get near And terrorize my attitude as well as my image Disassociating with a perplexed and horrified visage I’m so incredibly tired of existing A cruel and ironic fate I’ve missed out on so many opportunities All because of this miserable headspace

Change... a word with a world within With the power to transform Visions into victories Opportunities into accomplishments Some fear it; some resist it But not us We are a breed apart We challenge the limits of action We dare to explore new dimensions And transform tomorrow With courage and absolute conviction We DREAM fearlessly, BELIEVE resolutely And ACT decisively And when the odds are against us We even it out by transforming all we have & becoming who we are. TO PUT the art and talent of Mindanaoan fashion design into the spotlight, Kagay’anon fashion designers put their hands together to organize the 5th Mindanao Fashion Summit at the Limketkai Center Rotunda from August 4 to 6, every 4 p.m. “Being a core event of the Higalaay festival, the opening salvo, the Mindanao Fashion Summit can really highlight fashion designers here in Cagayan de Oro and also in different points of Mindanao to let everyone see what they can do in the world of fashion design especially now that there are only so few opportunities for these designers to show off their works to the public. This is why we have the Mindanao fashion Summit because Kagay-anon designers believe that even if they join national fashion shows like the Philippine Fashion week, most of them still aren't getting the right encouragement as a fashion designer.” said Robbie Pamisa, the overall organizer of the event. The Fashion Summit is a three-day event composed of seven sub-categories such as the Mindanaoan collection, the Menswear collection, and the Ororama orange collection for the first day, the Guest Designers’ collection, the Fashion Institute of the Philippines collection and the Loop Lifestyle Fashion Show for the second day, and the Holiday Grand collection for the third day which will serve as the culmination of the fashion event. Mindanaoan Fashion designers from Cagayan de Oro as well as Davao, Butuan, Iligan, and Bukidnon have come to showcase their talents. Some of the fashion geniuses of the event include Alma Mae Roa, Angela Soriano, Ann Semblante, Benjie Manuel, Boogie Musni Rivera, Gil Macaibay III, John Mark Magellan’s, Joshua Guibone, Juniel Doring, Kiko Domo, Mark Christopher Yaranon, and Mavy Cooper de Leon. One of the highlights of the event is the Oro Fashion Designers’ Guild and the Designers Assembly featuring a collection of clothes using Mindanao material such as the Mindanao silk. Sponsors such as Ororama and The Loop Towers will also be showcasing their products in the fashion event. “Even student fashion designers from the Fashion Institute of the Philippines have been encouraged to participate so that they will be able to experience how a fashion show works. This is also a way for us to fulfill our mission to be another avenue for fashion designers to show what they have,” Paisa said.Read more at:http://www.marieaustralia.com/short-formal-dresses | www.marieaustralia.com/long-formal-dresses

.      I stare down at the plate of toast and beans      wondering why this was never part of my dreams.      Looking for the future with an illusional pretence,      hoping good apples will fall on my side of the fence. And as the fork dances slow around the legumes in spirals, the tedium of a wasting life bears the burden and scars of missed opportunities in paralysis and the colour of once bright lights           glow black, shining a shadow into the void covering the bruises that were once achievements of worth,      now tender patches           of failure. I drop the fork ...      … pushing away the plate and leaving food uneaten,      my desire for its nutrition fought and beaten,      Looking at the apple tree with sombre regret      maybe its fruit will fall and save me yet. And disappointment is worse than anger, it begins with the stench of loss the nasal whiff of what if … And what if the little apple tree drops all its fruit down to me? Would I recognise fortune on my side or fear the illusions and run to hide? © Pagan Paul (17/02/18)

My 2 Cents “the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men.” Let me start by mentioning that I don’t usually get involved with political matters, but in this case, I’d say it’s more of a basic human rights matter. I’m a man, and I’m a feminist. I was lucky enough to grow up in a home with three women; my mother and two older sisters. Growing up with them gave me an enormous amount of respect for women, (even though I may have lost a certain amount of socially expected masculinity along the way), and their current lives continue to increase my respect for the opposite gender. My oldest sister is leaving to study abroad at Oxford in less than a week to major in philosophy. Philosophy. She also graduated high school with a 4.0 and was involved in power lifting competitions and is enlisted in ROTC. Simply put, she’s an animal. She’s worked hard her entire life and I’d hate to see a world that put that hard work to waste. My other sister is working three jobs to pay her way through college and is planning to major in psychology. I’m always envious of her work ethic and level of commitment to not only her education, but to her friends and family as well. My mother has been my backbone since I was a child. She was always the one I turned to in times of trouble, and continues to be. She works hard everyday, while going through mentally straining marriage problems, and comes home and still asks me about my day. She has given me nothing but unconditional love for my entire existence. For these reasons, it boggles my mind why anyone would ever be anti-feminism. I am genuinely confused as to why, because their bodies are different, women get less privileges, respect, opportunities, and even money. I just don’t get it. I am also disgusted that women are seen by most men as walking ****** organs. l will admit genuine guilt to using the number scale to “rate” women. It’s something I grew up with, but now it sickens me. Assigning a number to a woman based on your misguided views on how she should look, whether you would **** her, is something I find repulsive. There’s nothing wrong with admiring the opposite *** but no one gives a **** about your stupid opinion, especially the woman. I hope someday if I ever have a daughter that she will have the privilege of living in a country of gender equality, tolerance, and open-mindedness. Anyway, I just wanted to put my two cents in. I am a man. I am a feminist. Peace.
