"ibrahim" poems
Eid Al Adha;
Eid of Sacrifices
and the celebratory end of Hajj.
Purity abides around their heart
as souls are blessed with the
sown seeds of joy.
Allah hu Akbar;
takbir echoes
as devotees congregate in
every mosque nearby.
They wear embellished clothes,
extending their hearts to one another
and capturing the ecstasy
in every single encounter.
Sentiments are reciprocated,
and gratitude is manifested
on such an occasion
as we recall the origins of the
reason we sacrifice;
and that is to follow the order of Allah,
as Prophet Ibrahim did.

since I joined hello
a larva with a torn soul
Clinging to Whatever's left of life
since I started scratching for light
Peeking at the deeming tunnel
but still hoping
since I started dinning with poets
eating haiku in the morning
drinking sonnet in the afternoon
feeling the aching agony of the broken in the evening
falling in love with the dreamers at night
Since my heart was pounded
wrecked and left with unspeakable pain
Since Born was birthed
a crawling character that was literally dying
but still screaming for hope, love and dream
Since Ismael Ibrahim aka Born
stopped existing
and started living

Anwar Ibrahim
Convicted of ****** in 2008
Acquitted in 2012
The Court of Appeal overturned the acquittal
He is currently serving his sentence
An aide to Anwar
Said he was sodomized by Anwar
****** even if consensual
Is punishable by up to 20 years in Malaysia
Anwar responded the complaint was politically motivated
Support for Anwar grown stronger
His wife is battling his conviction
Some say that political rival Dr. Mahathir
Will recover from his decrease in popularity
And remain in control
Because he helped Malaysia through a though economic time
Although it seems as though Anwar is gaining support
From a majority of the Malaysian people
Human rights groups accused Malaysia's government of using
An anachronistic colonial era law that criminalizes
"Carnal *********** against the order of nature"
To persecute Anwar
Anwar leads a three-party opposition that has become
Increasingly popular in the predominantly Muslim nation
This is not just
Anwar has been wrongly accused
I will pray for his wife
And his supporters
Stay strong Anwar
You are an innocent man

For Idil Ibrahim
In memory of Tim Hetherington - 1970 - 2011
I cannot stay and speak my truth while the front line has no voice.
The carpet doesn't share substance with the blood-clumped
dust of Liberia; Red wine doesn't stain nations and it hasn't
changed the world.
I cannot stay and walk these steps while the fragile youth stand.
Our Sunday morning route doesn't cover landscapes of wounds
and bodies; Central Park has never felt a thousand welted
feet march for death.
I cannot stay and see your face while molten plastic scars her world.
Your delicate eyes have never seen the darkness of a child's grief;
Our democracy cannot fathom the searing, slow drip after a family
massacred.
I cannot stay and feel worthy of your love while injustice goes unseen.
My lens has immortalised what we held dear, but is yet to capture
the human condition; I spoke to you like I spoke to them;
Through decades of mortar fire I spoke to them.

Nomade Slang

Ibrahim looking at Dalila declares Kitab Allah wa sunnati Rasullah
Dalila looking at Ibrahim declares Kitab Allah wa sunnati Rasullah
Ibrahim says to Dalila You are my heaven tonight
Dalila smiles
Ibrahim thanks Allah before dawn for being given the best provision
Dalila sits behind him humbling herself before Allah and giving reverance to Allah for an uncalculated blessing
Ibrahim leads them in their daily prayers
Dalila carefully and gratefully follows
Ibrahim is just or fair with Dalila and the family
Dalila is just or fair with Ibrahim and the family
Ibrahim often cooks delicious dinners for the two of them
Dalila plays with Ibrahim's hair afterwards
Ibrahim reads Quran and lives it for Allah, Allah's beloved Prophet, himself, Dalila, and their kids
Dalila learns from Ibrahim every day and admires his efforts to do what is required of him as a man of faith, as a husband, and as a father
Ibrahim is honest with Dalila
Dalila is honest with Ibrahim
Ibrahim gives Dalila attention and listens to her when she needs to talk
Dalila dresses for Ibrahim like she doesn't dress for other men
Ibrahim loves the way she looks for him
Dalila lets Ibrahim know what he can do for her to please her
Ibrahim enjoys the challenge and likes being her hero
Dalila often has nights out on the town with Ibrahim she plans
Ibrahim surprises Dalila several times a year by taking her to unique places and sometimes to scenic, thrilling vacation spots
Dalila says to Ibrahim You've made me yours forever
Ibrahim replies I'm a fortunate man

From the thorns come forth a beautiful rose,
From chaos comes forth a luminous star,
The gloomy rain is the cause for rainbows,
And Ibrahim came forth out of Azar.

Where do we come from? Where are we going to? طَرِيقً
What sense is there in our life? We never have a clue. الحَيَـاةً مَعْـنًى
How many blameless souls under the wheel azure نُفُـوسٌ أَطْهَارٌ
Are being burn’d to ash and dust – where is the smoke, I ask? دُخَانٌ

Thou shall not plant the trees of grief... شَخَرَة حُرْن
Though for enlightenment search the sun: إِنجِلاَءٌ
Shall care thou of lovely and love wine! رِعَايَةٌ
For time we live’s unequal to divine. وَقْتٌ

I came into this world – has it become more splendid? مُوسِر
I’m gone – will it be hurt so badly? خَسَارَة
I wish somebody told me why سِرّْ
I came from dust and dust become will I. هَـبَاء

Nor drink I to deny all that is bright and holy. سَبِب
I just want to forget myself if only for a while – نُكْرَانُ اَْلدَّاتِ
That’s why I drink all time – the price I pay is solid! خَزَاءٌ

I am going to conceive a son and name him Adam
As names in our century have become a conviction
A reason for conflict and contradiction
I won’t name him Mohammed or Jesus
I won’t name him Ali or Omar
I won’t name him Saddam or Hussein
I won’t name him Ibrahim or Zakaria
And not even David or George
I fear he grows a racist due to his name
A name of which I am to blame
To foreigners he’s a terrorist
To extremists he’s an infidel
To Shias he’s a Sunni
And to Sunnis he’s a Shia
I fear that he’ll only be worth as much as his name
A name of which I am to blame
I want him to be named Adam, A Muslim, Christian, Jew.
I am going to teach him that his religion is what is nestled in his heart
Not his name
His name of which I am to blame
I’ll teach him about the arab pride illusion
And how humanity is the solution.
I’ll teach him that god lives in hearts and souls before mosques and churches.
I’ll teach him that I began my speech indicating he was a male,
as females in our society are destined to fail.
I’ll teach him that the problem lies in the Arab society tale.

IN GOD’S NAME, THE COMPASSIONATE
MATLOOB BOKHARI
O Most Gracious and Most Merciful God
Who raised up the heavens without any support.
Who forgave our first parents, Adam and Eve
Who listened cries of Younus from depth of darkness
Who rescued Nuh , and drowned who denied His signs
Who ordered the fire to be cool and be safety for Ibrahim
Who kept Yousuf away from the seduction of Zulaikhah
Who blessed Musa a radiance white hand and a staff
Who made Mary and her son a sign for the worlds
Whose signs are the night and the day ; the sun, the moon
Glory be Thee! O totally forgiving God, I repent to You
Ask forgiveness in the name of Muhammad and his progeny
I am most meek, I am most humble, I am most obedient
O God Who pardons like a mother, I made big mistakes
I am worst sinner, I confess my sins, I ask big forgiveness
I have wounded my soul; I have gone astray, forgive me!
Please forgive me! To err is human, to forgive is Divine
Surely, Your compassion overcomes Your wrath!

The ship had left the port two hours before Geraldine
Said, ‘’I feel that I'll never turn back here again! ’’
She passed through the waiting line formed to use the latrine.
Suddenly, she heard a thunder in that rush of rain.
They had insufficient fuel, but enough food to last
Until they arrive in Çanakkale; the kitchen
Was quite large and Maya started to cook very fast.
''Maya, what smells so good? '' She said, '' the last fried chicken.''
Ibrahim was seventeen years old, and he helped them
Prepare the breakfast for the passengers; he entered
To bring a basket of coal and jet. ‘’It looks like gem.''
He took a coal into his hand to see if it was splintered.
''It is increasingly difficult to sleep at night, ''
Geraldine said; the ship was sailing forward slowly.
The waves were small, and a galleon came into sight.
It had the color of those waters being shoaly.
'Twas a commercial one sailing in the same direction.
A gust of wind ruffled her hair and snatched her blue bow.
The splashing waves with the rain drops were in connection.
That ship was sailing fast, but none of their sailors knew how.
Maya took the kettle of water coming to a boil;
Prepared bread with butter and cheese for the coming people:
Twenty passengers and fifteen sailors freed from toil.
The bells that rang were like those being in a steeple.
Suddenly, there was a bang as the ship might have hit a reef.
Frederick and Sam looked up seeing that the square sail
Deteriorated slightly in the wind, and the chief
Asked Sam to repair it.''There're two techniques that never fail.''
''Do you see that ship in the distance, on the horizon? ''
''It must be a Spanish galleon bringing *******
Laced with wine, ''said Brisbon whose face was wrinkled and wizen.
''They sail across the Pacific Ocean from New Spain.''
''They're longer, lower and narrower, with a square tuck stern
And have snouts projecting forward from the bows below
The forecastle level.'' They forced their eyes to discern.
The sun rose making the water have a golden glow.
'' These galleons are fast and very maneuverable.
They enable the ****** to sail closer to the wind, ''
Said Fargo.''Old ship's problems are innumerable.''
Freddy said, '' a thought to buy a new ship is in my mind.''

If you are hurt or betrayed, If you are hurt by people, who share the same blood as you. Remember Yussuf A.S, who was betrayed by his own brothers.
If you find your parents opposing you. Remember Ibrahim A.S, whose father led him to the fire.
If you are stuck with a problem where there's no way out. Remember Yunnus A.S stuck in the belly of a whale.
If you are ill and your body cries with a pain, remember Ayyub A.S who was more ill than you.
If someone slanders you. Remember Aishah A.S who was slandered throughout the city.
If you are lonely. Recall Adam A.S who was created alone.
If you cannot see any logic around you. Think of Nuh A.S who built an ark without questioning.
If you are mocked by your own relatives. Think of Nabi Muhammad S.A.W.
Can't you see how wonderful our Nabi is and their stories. Islam is indeed beautiful and perfect!

I’m talking about the beautiful country of Burkina Faso
Formally known as the Republic of Upper Volta, the newcomer on the plateau
The new country with a charismatic and highly competent young leader
Capt. Ibrahim Traoré, everybody is talking about this intelligent brother
Who is well articulated in French, English and other languages
Brother Traoré embodies what all young men and women aspire to be:
Heroes of his or her Homeland, to help and rid themselves of the vestiges
Of inferiority, servitude and slavery. Yet, I’m still learning about this great country
I love Capt. Traoré’s eloquent speeches and gestures. I’m awesomely inspired
By his words and deeds. This brave brother means business. He’s not tired
To tell the truth, as we know, most leaders lie like frogs trying to speak
He tells it like it is and he indeed does good for Burkina Faso. He’s at his peak
This courageous military man can only go higher, to be exemplary
In Africa. He’s the model leader that Africa (the world) needs. He’s too busy
To travel to countries that have mastered the art of insulting and belittling
Young and modern leaders. The world needs new leaders ***** capable of singing
The righteous songs of freedom, liberty, justice, fairness and equality for all citizens
Brothers and sisters, I’m still learning about B. Faso, Mali, Niger and other regions
Or countries that are fighting for the pride and the future of their inhabitants
My best wishes go to countries that are helping us accomplish our missions
We are living in a world of abundance. No countries should be treated as inferior
Or poor. "Haiti is not a ******** country". Yet, they failed to mention the exploitations
The rapes, the lies, the abuses and the lootings of our resources and the decapitations
They surely know how to manipulate, to neutralize, to explore and to divide to conquer
Oops, I had to exteriorate a bit. I want to wish our many countries a fruitful future
They’ll succeed because these new, incorruptible leaders care about us and they’re better.
P.S. This poem is dedicated to the late Pres.Thomas Sankara, our Haitian, African,
Black American Heroes, Poets and all our Brothers and Sisters.

Patience is salt on an open wound,
Hotter than the sun at noon
Yet it arms its bearer well,
With no regrets when trials are done.
And with Allah, no flame can harm,
As with Ibrahim in the fire’s embrace.
If hardship rains its needles down,
Each ***** hides eternal desire.
Al-Baqarah whispers, firm and clear:
Allah is with the patient near.
Patience is the rope that swings
Lifting weary hearts toward the sky.
For dreamers of success, it is the key,
The crown, the test, the final reward.

10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah
Coined as theFeast of Sacrifice
Marks Prophet Ibrahim's unwavering faith and devotion to Allah.
As per Ibrahim's A.S recurrent dreams,
His son Ismail agrees to be sacrificed according to Allah's wish,
But instead Allah sends a sheep to be sacrificed with Jibreel.
From this day onwards Muslim's all over the world sacrifice a goat, sheep or a camel,
And share the meat with friends, relatives, neighbours and the poor,
So forget your diet this week,
Welcome and enjoy the tastiest dishes Eid Ul Adha offers.

How?
How will I forget you?
How far have I gone?
That I can't see my back
I'm not such a blind driver,
That drives without looking at his mirrow...
On a narrow road,
Thinking to arrive safely...
Do you think that I forget you,
Your face,
Walking
And thoughts in class....
If I forget everything,
Methinks these would not be forgotten....
Don't you think I'm that a child?
That remembers his mother's caring
in the day and night...
Hes efforts in disciplining him,
Her responses to his cries
open your ears and hear me!
I still see you in my hearts
With both good and bad image
We don't talk but you are in my mind
Know that the tree you watered
Is spreading its roots,
Products,
And shades in the world...
I'm still grateful
