Do I relate to the post-postmodern True-life voodoo incomes are hard-earned If I put a hyphen between words Does that spawn a new one like lovebirds Isn't love the same word that I saw Don't crows live like bandits and outlaws Don't they have the outlook of bourgeois Carry stolen crackers in their claws There's no change that I couldn't change Every change that I change always stays the same I wanna sing with a slingshot serenade I wanna donate change to a masquerade I wanna die while I'm in the spotlight I want my death to inspire a rewrite I want to blur the lines of insight I want to make them think that I'm their height So give me all your red green yellow blue If you can find a pool then I'll refract with you You're a mirage and your favorite color's see-through You're my fata morgana from this point of view Are there any words for my freakshow feelings Isn't sugarcoated terminology appealing Wouldn't it be easier to represent the meaning Of a hard to swallow concept with an arbitrary ceiling Cryptic cultish crease in the catalog Paranoia backtrack to analog I can run much faster than I can jog Magic circle summoning Chernobog I can break the barrier of sound and space With these essential elemental explanations in your face But it doesn't matter everything I say will go to waste Because the power of the mind is putting power out of place Hindsight reflecting, teenagers texting Late to the punch with the big money flexing Let's settle this with a match in the ring Or a match to the rope of a cannon firing I wanna die while I'm in the spotlight I want my death to inspire a rewrite I want to blur the lines of insight I want to make them think that I'm their height I wanna hypnotize and paralyze I wanna make them think that I'm their size I wanna break their spirits drink their blood I wanna **** their souls I wanna **** them good

1, for the slumber that tumbles us round, 2, for the remedy, the musics bold sound. 3, for the tree that became your canoe & 4 for the rain, it's ambiguous blue. 5, to escape, to a world we contrive, 6 for the tricks that I played to survive. 7, because heaven, is supposedly on earth, & 8 for my mother, and her unknown worth. 9 for the failures, the faults & mistakes, 10 for the fears that keep us awake. 11, for my father, consoles me each night, whispers advice crystal clear, filled with insight- words on courage & kindness, love & delight. 12- when you wake but it's already night. 13 forever, with strength glory and might, 14 with wisdom, discretion, insight- both numbers together sizing up every fight. 15, for my little sister, and all her turmoil, 15, for her spirit, the last one to spoil, she and the world but water and oil, 15 for her soul, and like the mighty cobra it's coil, deadly & graceful defends its home soil. 16 for the evil- the wicked & cruel, the endless hate they spin into fuel. 17, for reason, justice & art, and all the other virtues life etched on my heart, 18, to redeem, to admit your mistake, to truly move on then perhaps to retake. 19 for that shame, always the same, so familiar it almost comforts my brain. 19, for the suffering, agony & betrayal. 19 true stories retold as mere tales- how they surpass logic and induce other's fails. 20. For my years. For the moment, for now. For to the past I salute, and to the future I bow; All with the hope that next year I'll know how to do what everyone else can.

Sometimes I wonder About all these screens Reality captured and controlled Designed and refined Groomed to an idealistic state of too good to be true Making it a bit too easy to day dream Sometimes I wonder About all those moments Those times so clearly photographed With a piercing sting behind the camera Fantasy proposing the changes that can't be made For those moments that you can't forget Sometimes I wonder About all I haven't seen Billions upon billions of molecular possibilities Shown through animals, forests, seas, circumstances All going on beyond the length of my perceptions Giving me a yearning for more than before But... Sometimes I know Despite all the anxieties of self perception The hindsight consumption pressuring pointlessly And the necessary humility in a world that is small itself That there's a lot I can do to find contentment in life And plenty of time to do it

Sometimes I wonder
Strangers known by shared room Honey voiced , high cheek ***** no less, no more Licorice words pounding on a chest scrambling to wrap fingers around a single perfumed breath Two days dragging on pulled through mud stuck in fog seconds are hours too long Then ringing came answered by drops of syrup pouring out a reply, yes! drinking it in with big gulps. Mirror reflects practiced hellos swishing hair put in place teeth and lips splitting breaking through stone face Pacing back and forth frantic footsteps pounding crushing carpet in a line south, north, south, north No ring, no change red blushes fad grey phone silent, gaze up stare blank Is the swooshing hair the wrong way? Is the grin too toothy? Is the face not constructed right? Stood up and let down sailor on a ship already sunk and drifting off the starboard bow Stood up and let drown by the honey voice the high cheek bones Failure in hindsight sighing “I should have known I should have known…”

looking back, i’ve realized that in the moment i tend to be anxious and impatient and i don’t trust that everything will work itself out and i ache to know exactly what is waiting for me around the corner will i alter my circumstances or will my circumstances alter me? i mindlessly allow myself to become faithless and although i’ve overcome so many obstacles, my eyes become fixated on the present and i forget to take a step back and reflect on my past everyone always says, “don’t look back,” but i think it’s important to remember where you once stood and recognize how far you’ve come i know i’ve changed and i know i will continue to change so why at 2am on a monday night do i get stuck believing that things will always be the same?

This is my world, this is my world. All men and women wear eyeglasses. All truths we are tasked to seek on dusted glasses Of windowpanes behind the windowpanes. Ah, we see clearer, said the top, we see better If things are viewed on top, by top, the top Refuses to see, they refuse the refuse. Screen them, screen that. They will not see Them, believe us, trust our hindsight, we have foresight Bring us the microscope, that magnifying glass. This is our world, you’re living in our world. Wear that eyeglasses, we customized them for you.

**I urge that we make ourselves proud… of us I urge that we go into and come out of these polls sober minded, responsible, uncorrupted, without ‘fight’ or ‘fuss’ Uncorrupted I urge that a joyous feeling of an evolving nation moving forward be the only thing we can, in hindsight, say erupted… this upcoming Monday, the following Tuesday I would like to state that a people gunning for peace in these coming days is the only topic I would like to be following in the news today We should see what’s coming as the change of guard it is… and not as a dreaded doomsday You may be black… I may be white, or vice versa… and that’s alright We shouldn't even be asking ourselves “Who’s grey?” I will vote with one heart for one country… my country A country in which I’m confident can keep the peace, you see, we’re kind of good at this I know this because we've had quite a bit of practice I know this because deep down we all want to make peaceful transitions be the Kenyan way I know, I hope… and whenever necessary, I pray Happy voting.**

Happy voting... {Poetry For Peace-Kenya}
Ophelia, Ophelia, voracious daydreamer, how dare you upset this delicate orbit. your hands were the kiln for my sloppy and misshapen mind, but that was nothing, relatively, compared to the way your eyes reflected lost souls. my dear, it's a catastrophe. now when the moon chides me, and the stars reek of your smile, I run my hands across the fronts of empty dresses that you wore years ago. Ophelia, Ophelia, I recall the way your eyes shone like the peak of madness and how your shoulder blades touched in a subtly avian manner. how simple are the remnants of your existence, of your melancholia, I cling to them like a ***** to touch- and I know they will bring you no closer. stale shadows haunt my lingering eyes; where you should be standing I see only lost time. Ophelia, Ophelia, smoldering star in my hindsight, stone in my chest- I'm sad to see you go.

Hysteresis (short poem)
Today I stopped to imagine If hindsight were foresight, love languages always matched, and needs were always met If we never hurt each other or let each other down and if distance, time or death couldn’t separate If… If only… How rich and beautiful the tapestry of our connections would be

I was right behind that mountain, now I'm just above its peak, able to see things for what they truly are and not how I wanted them to be. In hindsight the sun has shined its light on life's mysteries. Out of the darkness we must rise; with resilience we will shine.

Resilience
You broke my heart And threw it in a pile of dirt I have no enemies However, worse are you, than an enemy Because, betrayal leaves scars Which are even bigger than cars And take as much time to heal As it does, to complete a CA course Which is of course, a huge deal! You broke my heart And caused me a lot of hurt Truly did I care for you, you know Thus, was it a massive blow When we came to know the truth Which destroyed the earth On which my love was built Since, loyal was I, to a fault You broke my heart And turned it into a shopping cart You took advantage of my compassion And used it as ammunition For your deceitful modus operandi However, thanks to the rescue operations Led by my best friend and my sister We put an end to the matter However, rather protracted and tedious Was the divorce process And ultimately richer did you get, by a frigging four lakhs For absolutely no fault of ours!! You broke my heart And ensured I nearly fell apart However, healing am I Slowly but surely Thanks to my dear family As well as my circle of friends Not to mention, a few close cousins All of whom ensure, I suffer not, for your sins Our relationship may have had a bitter end However, I am now free And no longer, will I carry The burden of a relationship Which, in hindsight, was always going to be doomed Even without all the cheating and manipulation Of course, I may have to apply some caution When it cometh to future relationships However, I now understand the value of friendship Better than ever!! You broke my heart However, I am making a conscious effort To put all this behind With the help of family, cousins and friends As well as therapy Of course, not always am I happy But I am healing for sure This experience having ensured That I am working harder than ever And allowing myself to be bored, never I repeat, you broke my heart However, you have made me more alert I am now stronger than ever And will allow myself to be cheated, never What you did proved to be a blessing in disguise Because, it has made me wise And just a matter of time is it Before my broken heart eventually heals!!

I was used to the abuse, used to the towers I was used to being used, used to your power it makes me sad looking back, I was in the present accepting presents while you were hiding in the black, keeping secrets, turning your back on me and everything I offered, I thought you were better than you were guess it's my first mistake to think you wouldn’t put me up at the stake watch my ivory skin be engulfed in flames watch your baby burn away if it means that you can survive by the skin of your teeth tried to run and run with my tired feet tried to undo all you have done to me tried to keep the door open in case you came running back to me I like broken birds, I like empty words I like chess pieces, I like idealistic worlds you fit my trauma like a glove, manipulation to get my love but you had another, arguably better older, more secure, not a country over but in turn, you made me feel insecure a tragic mess continuing to dismantle unravel like ribbons, uncovered the truth due to visions I received, the seeds I reaped protection is given to me by deities I am not one for fighting but refuse to wave the white flag you shot me and now I must burn down your creations in a red flash every web of lies, web of secrets I set ablaze and sit back like the grim reaper

Hindsight
It's hard to shake that feeling you get after you've done something you never thought you could do. After the gritting of teeth and continuous self motivation, but before the elation and self satisfaction that comes with hindsight. The stomach loosens and the jaw relaxes, you come back down to normality gradually enough to be caught in a limbo. Where you're by no means changed, or cured, or better, but you're not quite yourself either. Just a medium ground, more pensive than happy or any other kind of emotion. And we're left to stumble around trying to decide whether to congratulate yourselves or regret your actions.

That strange feeling
I once knew a watch-thief Who stole for his own He wasted the time that he Stole on the road But this gypsy boy finds A young girl one day With a garland of flowers And a red satin waist She came from the highway That led to the city Her garments conveyed She was wealthy and pretty The gypsy boy wore Some old slacks and no shirt And he would not have seen her, But she introduced herself first Before hellos were said Or greetings exchanged Years later he said He could feel something change As she told him of ease That she left behind He fell to his knees And praised God’s good design If love is a lifetime, Then lend me your hand. The sparrows are witness That my promise stands And now our gypsy wagon Is off down the road And we’ll never stop moving Cause this is our home. This small band of gypsies, Now larger by one Trundle the pathways and roads they call home The watch-thief reclines with his girl in his arms they fall quickly in love ‘Neath the light of the stars. But if hindsight goes further And time teaches true There was blood in the water, If only he knew. She came down to his level But took it too far She went too far in revel And slowly, she broke the boy’s heart. The gypsy boy stood, Still stock still in his shock He ducked under the hood Of his caravan-rock He walked back to the city She’d said she was from He put it in a bag And he drank in the slums. If love is a lifetime, Then when will you come? The sparrows, our witness, flew too close to the sun And now my gypsy wagon Is off down the road And now I’ve nowhere to go because you were my home.

. The more I think, and reflect about life, the more it strikes how little we need to survive. . But then the question of my life itself baffles me still. In the name of Cups and Wands and Swords and Pentacles. How does one figure out how one wants to ease into the world— in what manner what face what costume what identity shall we assume in this theatrical muse of mass-scale rehabilitation. Searching, for the right attire in a tolerable personality. To eventualize, to officiate, to become A masterpiece— by the hands of time and the wheels of fortune. So that we may be made worthy Maybe, if you were dealt with luck. Fortune's Fool— How do we know which is the correct way to go sᴉ ǝɥʇ ʇɔǝɹɹoɔ ʎɐʍ oʇ oɓ· in hindsight. To hunt for a halo in the robes of glee while you dwindle in time Abject, at sea. Cut the chase. Bleed. Heal. Await the haemorhage and its evanescence. And when you approach the Great Finale, Be free. . At any moment of time, we have one foot in the abyss while the other lapses into ecstasy. .

“ The Hermit ”
Headless chickens running aimless toward the almighty dollar Blindly staring at the knife"s stainless steel amidst all the squaller My thirsty soul argues against my numb skull to hold a thorough audition They lewdly feud about potential candidates accrued to search for recognition They conclude on a suspicion they mutually feared as a result of blind ambition Search preludes the admission, that I found my dream car with no keys for ignition Don"t question authority especially when it's the majority Everyone knows the world is flat and let's just leave it at that I bought water from you now I have ice to sell I have a great story but no one worthy to tell Hindsight should really be at least twenty fifteen Because to admit we just don"t know is too obscene? Blissful ignorance"s repugnant scent wafting through the cave Mindless sheople"s chainlinked brains all dancing at the rave Fire flickering Shadow puppets tastefully riding the next wave Puppeteer wizard behind the curtain telling them how to behave Misaligned redcoated frontline soldiers falsely labeled as brave Life"s ironic conundrum puzzle, choosing which children to save Diseased cement steadily drying in a world ever ready to pave Hungrier than I"ve ever been, yet sickly devoid of things to crave
