***Put on your yamaka, it's time for Hanukkah So much fun-akkah to celebrate Hanukkah, Hanukkah is the Festival of Lights, Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights. But when you're the only kid in town without a Christmas tree, Heres a list of people who are Jewish, just like you and me: David Lee Roth lights the menorah, So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah Guess who eats together at the Carnegie Deli, Bowzer from Sha-na-na, and Arthur Fonzerrelli. Paul Newman's half Jewish; Goldie Hawn's half too, Put them together--what a fine lookin’ Jew! [Esus] You dont need Deck the Halls or Jingle Bell Rock Cause you can spin a dreidel with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock--both Jewish! [Esus] Put on your yamaka, its time for Hanukkah, The owner of the Seattle Super Sonic-ah celebrates Hanukkah. O.J. Simpson-- not a Jew! But guess who is...Hall of Famer—Rod Carew--(he converted!) We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby, Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish--not too shabby! Some people think that Ebeneezer Scrooge is, Well, hes not, but guess who is: All three stooges. [Esus] So many Jews are in show biz-- Tom Cruise isn't, [tacit] but I heard his agent is. [Esus] Tell your friend Veronica, its time to celebrate Hanukkah I hope I get a harmonica, on this lovely, lovely Hanukkah. So drink your gin-a-tonic-ah, and smoke your mara-juanic-ah, If you really, really wanna-kah, Have a happy, happy, happy, happy Hanukkah……. HAPPY HANUKKAH!***

This land is your land, This land is my land. This land is our land, But Not a black land, Not from sea to shining sea. Attention Mexicans everywhere! This land is not your land, This land is our land, Home of the free! (Some requirements apply) God bless America, Where at least I know I'm free, Home of the ignorant, Yet land of the free, (Skin color based exceptions) Happy Happy new Year! New year to You and Me! Happy Happy new year, Except for your country, (Build the wall!) Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel, I made it out of clay, If the makers Muslim, Please don't explode I pray. Lastly, America the beautiful, As hypocritical dumpster fires tend to be.

American Dream, well. Sorta.
The tangerine stained race track spread across our **** carpet, a turn by the wooden bed frame, a loop near the five piece drum set. My brother’s fingertips gripped a Hot Wheel by its rear end, its rubber wheels greeting the track, propelling it forward, launching it into another plastic vehicle, and Crash. I nursed the toy cars through emergencies, playing doctor to replace cracked windshields and torn plastic bumpers, victims of one too many collisions. It alarmed me how easily the 1976 Mustang could lose its wheel, sending it spinning like a dreidel while my brother grinned with splintered teeth, feeling nothing. The car survived the impact, but people don’t always walk away from accidents. They can’t be raised on jack stands and tinkered with. The operation table, home to drivers with fluttering heartbeats, can hum to the deafening beat of a flat-line monitor.

(footnote) 2100 years ago a band of Jews defeated the Greek army And drove them off their land, reclaiming the holy temple In Jerusalem and rededicating it to the service of god. when they sought to light the temples menorah They found only a single cruse of olive oil that escaped contamination by the Greeks. Miraculously the one day supply lasted eight days. The sages instituted the festival of Chanukah To publicize these miracles. The Dreidel which is a four sided top with a Hebrew letter on each side which means “ a great miracle happened here” was used later on in the years to give thanks to god Without the enemy knowing that they were praying. Chanukah, the Jewish festival of rededication, also known as the festival of lights, is an eight day festival beginning on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev. Chanukah is probably one of the best known Jewish holidays, not because of any great religious significance, but because of its proximity to Christmas. Many non-Jews (and even many assimilated Jews!) think of this holiday as the Jewish Christmas, adopting many of the Christmas customs, such as elaborate gift-giving and decoration. It is bitterly ironic that this holiday, which has its roots in a revolution against assimilation and suppression of Jewish religion, has become the most assimilated, secular holiday on our calendar. Christmas and Chanukah are known world wide But these two faiths do not collide. They walk hand in hand For they came out of the promised land. You see : the son of god was born a Jew The Romans felt this was taboo. No other religion could exist This was controlled by the Romans fist. JESUS preached in synagogues throughout the lands Something that the Romans did withstand. His own people wanted his death But little did they know That with this- a new faith would grow. The cross on which he died became a symbol Of Christianity, and that’s the way God meant it to be. Chanukah is eight days of giving while the Christian Holiday is just one day ,but during these holidays we all kneel and pray. We give GOD thanks for all the beauties of the earth And for family and friends, and it is something That will never end. As long as man holds a belief in their hearts And faith,-then all will be overcome and Let GODS will be done. © L . RAMS

Sometimes I wish I could be a man the sun will just make me move dance like Finley Quaye gathering rainbows as the sun rays penetrates deeply through the layers of the spinning dreidel Sometimes I wish I could be a man may be the girls will stare and think wink and weakly muse gathering rainbows as the winter sacrifices it’s cold spell over the mast of a mountain peak past the cold freeze of the snowy frost ......If I were a man, I would lay her reign by the summerly graffiti trail. Then, sing her lullabies made of rubies and red roses........

A Spinning Dreidel
Criminal Arson, lyrical Spartan All coming from the dark abyss of my apartment I'm Aiming for your cartilage Heart attacks happen often Watch your **** watch your next step Slip up, to get surgery like open neck Don't expect this **** to be progressive nor a lullaby I've been non-aggressive for the longest time I deserve some credit for this overtime I have reached a point where I'm disrupting lives Cold bars see we're living in some chilly times Every day I cross the street yet I'm negligent of the signs if I get hit is that ****** or suicide? I remember when we would practice penmanship along a clean dotted line I remember when we were absent minds with focus fixed Yes, Ma’am. No, Sir. Climbing atop monkey bars, we were crafty criminals never discouraged by law We didn’t know what we were doing I remember when I was crushing hard on him and little love notes Barbies aren’t cool anymore NSYNC versus The Backstreet Boys No, Sam is my boyfriend now Gaucho pants and platform sandals We didn’t know what we were doing I remember when I couldn’t pearl papers, tapped out after one rip, and thought roaches only existed in the cracks of crumbling city apartments But I was still “cool” and destined to be a rockstar so, whatever... I didn’t know what I was doing Now, I am a spinning dreidel despite the cataclysmic storm I am the drizzle of syrup on a Sunday morning omelette I am the cherry blossom tree that blooms in late spring A settled and centered soul, I am a pen on the brink of a classic And I don’t know what I am doing

Stutter Step
Do you remember that one time we both just happened to stay up until 4:00 in the morning? Or that time you tried to walk past me but our small talk got too big and we ended up sitting separated by four thousand miles and an electrical outlet? Do you remember that one time when our elbows touched for almost a second at dinner, but neither of us said anything? Or that time I felt like watching that TV show you love and accidentally left my door open and you felt like watching for awhile and punched my arm when I pointed out how a terrorist wouldn't be able to activate an atomic bomb from like four thousand miles underground? Do you remember how your voice shook with laughter when I told you I was flirting with you? How it shook like a seismograph on the white cliffs of Dover, How it shook like a tambourine Like a dreidel or a top? Do you remember how the fire leapt and the mountains slammed and the thunder clapped more fervently than a bunch of liberals watching a mariachi band? or has my imagination gotten the best of me once again?

That one time
Plastic, Glass, and Metal ceilings Clocks and bars Lend me a sip This whole place is about to tip over Under it all I feel the pull of the fall Liquid Love in a crystal vase Can’t help me be who you want to see Midnight one Midnight two Orange flickers, green snickers Spinning round round around I’m a dreidel on the edge of a table Waltzing suicides don’t know the ocean’s below On the eve of this kiss The cliff crumbles in ecstasy ‘World won’t quite let us lose it all Keys, Cash, and Cars Missing socks and a sky without stars Ursa Major with a minor problem Now it’s a habit he can’t quite kick Orion’s belt is fastened too tight And the seven sisters are now only six Do you see what isn’t there? Careful, careful the Sun thinks even the Moon is fake But more than that Diana knows Though to her you’re just a blunder A wayward soul lost to deaf thunder Drink, drug, and dalliance By marring morning this too shall pass to you

Behind this false face, remain flawless conflictions A mask of such wrath, and endless contradiction Good deeds are unseen, Anger is routine-- never in between, because bliss is obscene Clouds keep me in but soon, pours me out into an unkind world where i can’t even shout These shards of obstacles whirl like a tornado, it’s throwing up the pieces, watch them twirl like a dreidel I endured predictions, but i stood my ground suffered addictions, but made a turn-around My heart stays with God, my mind is working hard, to finally understand now that i won’t be forgiven until the day i can forgive myself Foundation can crack, and still support a tower my structure may lack but that does not oppress my power I shall not cower, when my future over-rules my past, because I’ll be the person with the last laugh In fact, my life was one big conviction, but what the jury doesn’t know is that the world molds intentions This mask of complexity distorted my vision-- finally it deteriorates revealing ambition

The Abstract Mask
I am a tall multifaceted sided top. Turning in moment. Twirling with my pen spinner. There is inner glow that shines were each side is infused with words. When I land on one side A sad poem may emerge where emotions are felt. If the side falls on a smile a poetic song laced with rhyme Surfaces. I never know what side will emerge on any given day or moment. I never know but ever poem is a gift A window of self ready to share.   Sometimes another poet will turn me and inspire with their words. Guess relatives can call me a chocolate dreidel filled with sweet or bitter poems.

Light the candles on the menorah, On the menorah, one by one. Let the shamash be your attendant. Gather together when day is done. May the sounds of Hanukkah blessings Fill your home with a cheerful mood. Let your heart be brimming with wonder, Joy and laughter and gratitude. Celebrate the season with hope-- The yearly festival of lights. Think about the oil that burned For eight miraculous days and nights. Spin the dreidel. How will it fall-- Nisht or gantz or halb or shtel? Win or lose some Hanukkah gelt… If you break even, you're doing well. We reflect on where we have come from; Struggles have never seemed to cease. May people everywhere learn from the past. For the sake of the children let there be peace. Light the candles on the menorah, On the menorah, one by one. May the gentle glow of the candles Soften the night in the setting sun. -by Bob B (12-12-18) °I know: the festival of Hanukkah has passed this year. But it will return on 22 Dec. 2019.

Light the Candles°
Pale pink tights wrapped in an elastic hug around a little girl’s strawberry plump thighs. With wavering fingers, she gave a mighty tug at her silky ribbon wraps, and began to fantasize... Basking in the heat of a glimmering light, a dancer shuffled her way across a wooden stage; she was weightless, her body contorting away from the night, as she flaunted her lyrical ritual under a spotlight cage. She extended her leg and twirled her arms, perpendicular against the forces of gravity. She wanted to reach the sun, to touch the stars, but the crescendo ripped through her balance, and she was considered free. Spinning, spinning, like a dreidel; Every muscle poised and ready to be a bulletproof vest. Spinning, spinning, until she was unable; A thunderous applause erupted from the crowd of unwelcomed guests... “REBECCA!” a voice snapped outside her dreamscape. Drooling little girls with tight buns and runny noses staring at their tutus, mouths agape. A shoe in one hand, she ran to do her first lunges.

Sleeping with the fishes or, fish sleeping While still swimming Either way I could **** in your hat And yea, you'd still be brimming And yea, I'd still be sinning, Spinning like a sacrilegious dreidel All hard edges
