The root Of ambition Is ambivalent There's no “one cause” No one causes A man To make life decisions In a day It takes Much more For A man to be successful And real With his inner-self Accepting The cards dealt With the stamina To play through Exercising his will With the feel Lingering in every pore Unsure Of obstacles ahead Headstrong Through barricades Bearing the bruises Trampling Over your own Feet Defeat Seen in battle But the war’s on And the war zone Isn’t limited To a few Years Like ages 19-22 Whose to do Worse Who has more Money CARS Clothes And hoes And whose vision Is so small To tack them with success All in all And attack those Who lack the Wills To move forward And ignorantly Attach it With a phenomena Of Your unknowing Root of ambition Can spread Like weeds And weeds Can **** ambition Or spread Like seeds How many men Dive Head first under the influence Or rise above High From the same drug Barack Obama Michael Phelps William Shakespeare Bill Clinton Lebron James Pablo Picasso The Beatles Jay-Z Bob Marley Conan O’Brien Dr Francis Crick. (Nobel Prize Winner) Samuel Taylor Coleridge Salvador Dali Victor Hugo Kareem Abdul-Jabar Snoop Dogg Dr. Dre Stephen King Just to name a few Maybe Just maybe It has nothing to do With success Or you.

Lack of Ambition
Bang, bang, bang, baaannggg I dreamed I was dying and goin’ to hiphop heaven Wow, what a dope sight it was to have seen. Last night I was shot and arrived at hiphop heaven. And you know who met me at the big bling gates? The original kings of da hood themselves, Run DMC. They said to me, they said, “Bro, the Big Dude of the hood up here, has told us to show you around the crib. So come with us. Now standing on da corner is some of your favourite homies. **** I was glad to see them, The Notorious B.I.G. and the maestro of rap Tupac Shakur. I dreamed I was dead in hiphop heaven Wow, what a dope sight it was to have seen. They introduced me to Snoop Dog, and they showed me the Ghetto of Fame with all the gold chains and number one hits up upon da wall. Then they said, “Bro, walk this way, there are a few more hiphop stars, that I know you’re dying to meet, they’re hangin’ for you. “There they were chillin’ by the curbside and staring down at me - Eminem and AKA MCA. Bang, bang, bang, baaannggg I met all my heroes right from the get go **** what a privilege to have finally met Then I asked them, who else do you think will join y’all, uh, say twenty five years from now? They handed me a book of sheet music covered with graffiti. They named it the Hood 4 Life Book. In it, were many names and some were already highlighted in black texta. I began to scan the pages and saw names such as, Dolla, Pop Smoke, Juice WRLD, Nipsey Hussle, Easy-E, Lisa Lopes, Nate Dogg, Lil Peep, Jam Master Jay, J Dilla, Proof, Soulja Slim, Big Hawk, Prodigy, Camoflauge, Natina Reed, Charizma, Bloodshed, Big Bank Hank and  Dav E Crockett. *** Dav E Crockett? Oh, well, that's when I woke up, and I'm sorry I did, because I always dream I’d end up in hiphop heaven Wow, what a dope sight it would be, y’all be knowin’ what I mean?

Taking my grandparents to a concert
Snoop dogg, snoop lion Through the fogg we see hes cryin we ask him why he will not tell He broke his favorite reggae bell It sounded smooth and made him feel good Just like his kush that he burned in the hood Dre gives his condolences but it is no use Snoops bell has already tied its nuse So for his bell we mourn, for his bell we pray Light one for the bell, it died to day

An ode to the dogg
TS Eliot said, “Paris is a strong stimulant.” It is - but it has nothing on Manhattan. If Paris is a Café Crème espresso at a café-en-terrasse under the stars. Manhattan is a ‘Black Tie Bawls’ cocktail at The Crown bar (the skyline!). We were going to relax - in Manhattan, instead, keep those seat belts fastened. Lisa said, one night, “Want to go out for a bit?” Since then, I’ll admit, our nights have been lit.  We have ten days, and we’ve decided to try every Michelin-starred restaurant we can (there are 68 in NYC). So far, we’ve been to Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin and Per Se. This was Lisa’s idea. The food is delicious - if you like a corn-flake with something on it or a steak the size of a bouillon cube ($250 per person with cocktails and dessert). As we left ‘Per Se’ I asked, “Can we get something to eat now? I’m starved.” I was only ½ kidding. It’s MY idea to visit every beautix rooftop bar in Manhattan (there are exactly10). So far, we’ve been to, ‘The Peninsula,’ ‘230-Fith’’ and ‘NoMad’ - we’ve only been at these tasks for three nights. We’re doing other things too. We’re going to Broadway shows (& Juliet, the Great Gatsby, Oh Mary!, Wicked) and to see Idina Menzel (Wicked, Frozen) in concert and a John Oliver and Seth Meyers comedy show next Monday. We do these, as in - Dinner, show, rooftop bar. OH, and we’re dancin’ like we’re sentient - no cap. Our sordid troup, is Lisa and Dave (her boo), Charles & Ms Charles, Lisa’s folks (Karen and Michael) and Lisa’s little sister Leeza and Meeeee. Luckily, we have one of my Grandmère’s conglomerate, executive secretarial minions (François) booking reservations for us. He’s got ‘contacts.’ Yeah, we’re drivin’ full speed towards summer’s end - “fo-shizzle” (to quote Snoop Dogg). We figure we can rest, a few days, in New Haven. Wasn’t Snoop fire at the Olympics? . . dance club songs, for this one: One Kiss by Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa Lipstick by Kungs Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter [E] Levitating by Dua Lipa . . slang… café-en-terrasse = terrace cafe Black Tie Bawls = (cocktail) Blavod black ***** lemon, and Bawls energy drink. beautix = top drawer, rizz No cap = no lie fo-shizzle = for sure fire = great, a standout [E] = explicit

A Humble Cry
Live 8 The Black Eyed Peas and a green, Green Day; I want this day to last forever; thank Bob for giving us Live 8. A day of great bands, playing all their best songs; From Bono and McCartney, through to Snoop Doggy Dogg. All over the world, great bands play great songs; We all know the words, so come on sing along. Some people are pants; some become great human beings. One day of your life, dedicated to the revolution. Television to the world, a united way of thinking; We must all join in, to find a solution. A whole day of music, for a world with one feeling; To tell your fellow man, to keep on believing. One day we will end this and make Africa one great nation; Sir Bob showed us the way, now we must start the revolution. Twenty four hours of music, is a gift to the world; It will enlighten any mind, but you can't forget the cause. You can't have a great day and forget the dying boys and girls; Because one moment will affect you, It will soon change your world. Some people are pants; some become great human beings. One day of your life, dedicated to the revolution. Television to the world, a united way of thinking; We must all join in, to find a solution. A kid gets to his feet, to not die in front of his sister; There lays a baby, just waiting to die. Without Bobs irate temper and the visions of Africa; I would have felt nothing, I wouldn't have cried. Then they showed a girl, who was so close to death; If we all did nothing, she wouldn't be here now. But Live Aid gave her life, helped her take a deep breath; One vision of human beauty, as she looks out at the crowd. This incredible woman, would not have grown to become a woman; We would have denied the world, of such a beautiful face. I would have never, seen such a beautiful angelic image; Now I see her as a vision. Human being’s saving grace. Some people are pants; some become great human beings. One day of your life, dedicated to the revolution. Television to the world, a united way of thinking; We must all join in, to find a solution. (C)2005 Aa Harvey. All Rights Reserved.
