# *Ebony silhouettes inked by a dying sun, portray lovers embraced in the synergy of one. Inseparable dreams slowly morph into one … subservient to the whims of the compliant heart’s drum. And azure pools reflect a tie-dyed denim sky, as enchanted dreamers seal their love with a kiss nearby. Twinkling stars confetti the emptiness of space. And as darkness descends, shadows swallow all of the light’s trace. Reality pauses … as time seems to stand so still to the depths of their very souls, motionless they swim.* #

As Time Stands Still
Every year we have been witness to it: how the world descends into a rich mash, in order that it may resume. And therefore who would cry out to the petals on the ground to stay, knowing as we must, how the vivacity of what was is married to the vitality of what will be? I don't say it's easy, but what else will do if the love one claims to have for the world be true? So let us go on, cheerfully enough, this and every crisping day, though the sun be swinging east, and the ponds be cold and black, and the sweets of the year be doomed.

Lines written in the days of growing darkness, by Mary Oliver
#*Lord Jesus, Plower of my heart, though the darkness descends around me and heavy moods fall over me, though the warm feelings of intimacy begin to fade and encroaching melancholy threatens to set in like a cold reversal of the winds, still I will rejoice in Your presence with me, for You are causing me to press beyond— beyond the delightful sense of You and into the delightful assurance of You. If I know nothing else, I know that You are here, You are faithful and You love me. So I will keep clinging to that when everything else seems to slip like dust through my fingers and all hope of good things in this life grows dim. I will cling to the promise that You are clinging to me, that You’ve got me no matter what, that You are never leaving or letting go. For You are the unchanging I AM in my ever-changing circumstances, through my ever-shifting emotions, over my ever-shaking life and around my ever-feeble heart. Here is my hand, Lord Jesus. I put it safely in Yours and trust You to lead me through this dark night. Work Your holy, harrowing fingers deep into the soil of my heart until every idol is uprooted, every stone removed and every broken place restored. Thank You, Jesus. I love You.*#

~ The Assurance ~
*Prologue (goddess) When the war of the beasts Brings about the world's end The goddess descends from the sky Wings of light and dark spread afar She guides us to bliss Her gift everlasting Act 1 (the wanderer) Infinite in mystery Is the gift of the goddess We seek it thus And take it to the sky Ripples form on the water's surface The wandering soul Knows no rest Act 2 (the hero) There is no hate only joy For you are beloved By the goddess Hero of the dawn Healer of worlds Dreams of morrow Hath the shattered soul Pride is lost Wings stripped away The end is nigh Act 3 (the abhorred) My friend, do you fly away now To the world that abhors you and I All that awaits you Is a somber morrow No matter where the winds may blow My friend your desire is the bringer of life The gift of the goddess Even if the morrow is barren of promises Nothing shall forestall my return Act 4 (the avenger) My friend, the fates are cruel There are no dreams No honour remains The arrow has left The bow of the goddess My soul corrupted by vengeance Hath endured torment To find the end of the journey In my own salvation And your eternal slumber Legends shall speak Of sacrifice at world's end The winds sail over the waters surface Quietly but surely Act 5 (the sacrifiser) Even if the morrow Is barren of promises Nothing shall forestall my return To become the dew That clenches the land To spare the sands The seas and the sky I offer thee this silent sacrifice*

Paris;this April sunset completely utters utters serenely silently a cathedral before whose upward lean magnificent face the streets turn young with rain, spiral acres of bloated rose coiled within cobalt miles of sky yield to and heed the mauve of twilight(who slenderly descends, daintily carrying in her eyes the dangerous first stars) people move love hurry in a gently arriving gloom and see!(the new moon fills abruptly with sudden silver these torn pockets of lame and begging colour)while there and here the lithe indolent ********** Night, argues with certain houses

Paris;This April Sunset Completely Utters
I rise along with the sun A new day A new start The mistakes and success' of yesterday are long since gone It's a new day Some I want to end just as they begin others to last forever No matter my mood My strength My Fatigue It's a new day It's a new start Choices are made To show love To show hate To work strong Or fall to FATE These choices all must face Ones that lead to good Others--- not so much As the sun descends The day comes to an end We face the consequences of our daily wake Hearts broken Hearts mended New friends New enemies But here we enter the forgiveness of the night A new day A new start.

Sunrise to Sunset
We embarked upon a titanic voyage to a new world. It’s said that behind every great man there's a great woman; But a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle. 7 bells rang late that night, as our ship stuck fast; between the devil and the deep blue sea. Fingers frantic! tapping code…—-… Sailors quickly battened down the hatches and stowed away the Riff-raff, for they knew fine words would butter no parsnips, Better here than there in third class. Some fiddlers on the deck played “Nearer My God to Thee", As the bubbles rose from beneath the sea, come buckle down boys for the devils to pay, come hell or high water he’ll have his pay. Mothers row, land lubbers row, it's time to leave this god forsaken place. pulling hard for freedom. Ten steel decks split and snap, as they join the ***** and hundreds either shriek or pray; as La dolce vita slowly ebbed away. Mercifully the cacophony descends ever silent, as fifteen hundred souls become neither fish nor flesh, rotting from the head down. Save our souls •••- - - •••. … — …

"Come hither." whispers husky voice alluring me with guile. My heart compels me to comply. My brain says "This is wrong." And yet, I find my feet move toward the magnet of his song. **HIM Did he ever wonder, about that one time Does he know that those were mine You know she would surely die If I ever left her high and dry...** HER Shhh ... a finger on his urgent lips, "the rest let's just forget" I'm aroused by heated passion igniting lust within ... I'm wet **HIM No one can know what tomorrow will bring But for tonight my love, it's you for me Behind the gas station I just couldn't wait I put her up against wall in trance like state** HER Penned against the wall with parted lips A kiss to potent to breathe Not nearly private enough, still my legs part, spread with his knee **HIM So willing as I pulled up her dress Gasping for lust with erratic breaths No need to be bashful when freaking at night Three moons were shining vividly bright** HER I surrender. I give up. Release me from the spell. No recourse now exists for me but succumbing to ecstasy, as well. **HIM Such passion for life Breeds a hunger for lust Fulfilling and satisfying Yet I can't get enough Her smell on my fingers As I take to the road Another memory Worn into flesh and bone** HER {CODA} A chill descends upon my heart as I watch him drive away. A single raindrop falls from the sky, depressed in its loneliness as it descends. It lands and drips down a grassy slope, alone and forgotten. A single raindrop falls from the sky. It falls from dark clouds and gloomy air. It brings nothing but sadness to the earth below and desires only to be heard or seen. A single raindrop falls from the sky, felt only by a stranger. It's wiped away, declared a nuisance, and cast away from existence. A single raindrop falls from the sky, mistaken for a tear. Thought to be from an angel of a lost age. It merely stirs the dust. A hundred raindrops fall from the sky, all lonely but together. They cause a splash and demand attention. Still only felt by one. A hundred raindrops fall from the sky, unable to quench the earth's thirst. They disappear, taken by the ground, embraced for the last time. A hundred raindrops fall from the sky. Not a head turns to notice them. They cry out loudly but cannot be heard, vanishing as they land. A thousand raindrops fall from the sky. The clouds gather to watch the spectacle. They grow darker as they bunch together, warning those below of the coming. A thousand raindrops fall from the sky and tap people on the shoulder. "Come watch us," they whisper before leaving. Few people are left behind. A thousand raindrops fall from the sky, looking for an audience. The people have left and taken their friends to hide in the buildings they made. A million raindrops fall from the sky, and joyously, they sing. They hit the ground, the cars, the roofs, and make music for those in hiding. A million raindrops fall from the sky. They dance and cheer and smile. The sun decides it wants to watch. The light dances with raindrops for awhile. A million raindrops fall from the sky, accompanied by rays of gold. They bring new color to the city of gray and rejuvenate all of the old. A gentle rain falls from the sky and makes art upon the ground. It quenches the earth's thirst and hums in our ears, dancing to its own sound. A gentle rain falls from the sky. People watch with awe from behind glass. Ignored by many, precious to captivated few. They long for it to last. A gentle rain falls from the sky and gracefully sways in the breeze. It brings forth calmness and a sense of peace. It blesses the green fields and trees. A gentle rain falls from the sky, watched by a child with wonder. It sends the breeze to lift the child and brings them out from under. A gentle rain falls from the sky and splashes on window panes. It plays with the child and hums sweet tunes as it makes puddles in the traffic lanes. A gentle rain falls from the sky and ripples in the water. A new world created, impossibly calm. It makes the child an offer. A gentle rain falls from the sky and whispers in the child's ear. "Wait for me.  I will return. I won't leave you alone here." A gentle rain falls from the sky and sings goodbye to the child. The clouds dissipate as the sun takes over. The departing rain simply smiles. A million raindrops fall from the sky, murmuring farewells and goodbyes. Each gives the child a tender hug as the color returns to the skies. A thousand raindrops fall from the sky, then a hundred, then one. The single raindrop kisses the child standing alone in the sun. No longer do raindrops fall from the sky, but a child waits for them. To dance and sing and draw and play, with the gentle rain again.

#Preface This is not aimed at a single person, nor written for applause. It is a naming, a mirror, a reminder that truth spoken with accountability carries its own fire. The Witness belongs to anyone willing to bear that flame, even for a moment. This is not accusation, but naming in clarity: Projection is the currency. The herd is the instrument. Seduction is the method. Obscurity is the shield.   And when truth enters,   it unsettles the herd. The first defense is always the lullaby.. soft verses sung to calm the trembling, to cradle the anxious back into sleep. But the lullaby is no vision; it is anesthesia, a narcotic of words. It soothes so that no one questions the darkness that holds them. Yet the mantle descends where it will. A word spoken in accountability burns like flame, piercing the fog, shattering the spell. Even for a moment, it breaks the hold and shows the rulers for what they are:       *unclothed,   powerless,              undone.* #

The Witness
Writer's block again, and from return; my heart descends. A knock, at the door? What are they here for? Hiding in the floors, the deaths of my enemies, a funeral of my thoughts, and they were meant to stay away. Yet you wished them here, just so you can write them. And they want you near, so you can recite them. Insightful, isn't it? You need to invite them in, and this time; they'll only stay for the titles and poetry, no. You're much too confident that you can kick them out, you need them; and they want you. Next evacuation; hopefully you'll choose yourself, but we know you never do-

Evacuations; Evaluations
I could show you such things as you never have seen But I'd have to go back on my oath An oath I never made, but which Stuck with me, the most sacred of things So sacrosanct that even to say the words of the oath itself Would be to break it. Rarely is holiness so raw Yet when that place is found When the moon descends And the water rises Something shifts: and the veil is slightly lifted But only slightly, for Personne ne peut enlever la voile d'Isis Even if we know how Especially if we know how Yet sometimes, gods willing, It thins itself slightly But only slightly, and We catch a glimpse of the way things really are: The way things could be.

how it descends parachuting an expansive heart, soft whose arrows are... to get drenched is our choice, not the sky's victory or defeat; bliss... a bridge betwixt ether, earth, of a peacock's throat, dripping song...

soft whose arrows are
When descends on the Atlantic The gigantic Storm-wind of the equinox, Landward in his wrath he scourges The toiling surges, Laden with seaweed from the rocks: From Bermuda’s reefs; from edges Of sunken ledges, In some far-off, bright Azore; From Bahama, and the dashing, Silver-flashing Surges of San Salvador; From the tumbling surf, that buries The Orkneyan skerries, Answering the hoarse Hebrides; And from wrecks of ships, and drifting Spars, uplifting On the desolate, rainy seas;— Ever drifting, drifting, drifting On the shifting Currents of the restless main; Till in sheltered coves, and reaches Of sandy beaches, All have found repose again. So when storms of wild emotion Strike the ocean Of the poet’s soul, erelong From each cave and rocky fastness, In its vastness, Floats some fragment of a song: From the far-off isles enchanted, Heaven has planted With the golden fruit of Truth; From the flashing surf, whose vision Gleams Elysian In the tropic clime of Youth; From the strong Will, and the Endeavor That forever Wrestle with the tides of Fate; From the wreck of Hopes far-scattered, Tempest-shattered, Floating waste and desolate;— Ever drifting, drifting, drifting On the shifting Currents of the restless heart; Till at length in books recorded, They, like hoarded Household words, no more depart.

I am in levels. Past levels. This deep, intrinsic wonderful lost, the lawlessness of its fascinating expenditure of excite. Pushing through the wild and feral snow-dusted plains and timber ridges. Like red-spotted dots breathing through the cylinders called the spine. This descends into a narrow channel of scantly clad greenish scenery in a time-soaked visionary wilderness of snow, Our crab legs dancing down wiry purple highways, our heads could not even look backwards if we had wanted. Furious, love-latitudes, stalking breaths thwacking fork-ended tongues into a pinkish knot buried into the first layer of organic membrane on this railway of miniature canals, showing. And their pride snuck into the elbows, shooting down each vertebrae as it stepped with great precision every ledge that the currency emphasized. The raw accumulation of stolen heart-beats rattling between the interstices of new fuel careering these red engines. Crashing with exquisite pleasure into one another.

Overcome -- O bitter sweetness, Inhabitant of the soft cheek of a girl -- The rich man and his affairs, The fat flocks and the fields' fatness, Mariners, rough harvesters; Overcome Gods upon Parnassus; Overcome the Empyrean; hurl Heaven and Earth out of their places, That in the Same calamity Brother and brother, friend and friend, Family and family, City and city may contend, By that great glory driven wild. Pray I will and sing I must, And yet I weep -- Oedipus' child Descends into the loveless dust.

the descent/the gates of hell
A life in poetry, A love in art Set forth on a path that extends forever. Though the closest reaches climb high Over mountain and dale, through ravine and shadow, The path goes on and as it does, descends into light: So much light, more light than one can resolve. It blurs the boundaries of the great valley Splashes of green, the wonderful glare of richness A river runs through the valley and nourishes the fruit The sweetest fruit. It nourishes the body, Nourishes the soul: renews, enriches, grows, sustains. The path extends to the horizon. And beyond. As it grows from the foothills it branches Forming a fractal road of possibility. Like roots growing from the mountain, There appears nothing more natural in the world. As the paths go on, they passes through diverse landscapes Some places they make sharp changes in direction, Some places they pass through further patches of shadow, Some places they grow wider, Some places they get rocky, But nowhere does the path narrow, beyond the first stretch, Where the paths split, and over the mountains rejoin. Beyond that there is always enough room for two To walk astride. Side by Side in Sunlight. Hand in Hand. For Maya. Donald Guy July 5, 2010.

Our Path
Moonlight, above Moonlight, the love Swelling heart, I feel Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Promises of life you knew you’d never keep, re-a-liz-ing light, drowns in the deep, Finding love you lost, it hurts, you weep, And the secrets you thought she’d like to steal, Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Walked hand-in-hand our hearts fit like a glove, holding out for the day I’d feel this love, Hardship and pain chip away at the steel, lotus layers of life you find unpeel, No matter what you’ll stay finds strange appeal, Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Moonlight, descends Our life, upends My heart, a stone Moonlight tonight my god I feel alone. Moonlight…tonight Moonlight…tonight And all the wounds of life that she can heal, Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed… Moonlight tonight to see the sights revealed…

Sin
Water in the millrace, through a sluice of stone, plunges headlong into that black pond where, absurd and out-of-season, a single swan floats chaste as snow, taunting the clouded mind which hungers to haul the white reflection down. The austere sun descends above the fen, an orange cyclops-eye, scorning to look longer on this landscape of chagrin; feathered dark in thought, I stalk like a rook, brooding as the winter night comes on. Last summer's reeds are all engraved in ice as is your image in my eye; dry frost glazes the window of my hurt; what solace can be struck from rock to make heart's waste grow green again? Who'd walk in this bleak place?

Day of mist: day of tarnish with hands unserviceable, I wait for the milk van the one-eared cat laps its gray paw and the coal fire burns outside, the little hedge leaves are become quite yellow a milk-film blurs the empty bottles on the windowsill no glory descends two water drops poise on the arched green stem of my neighbor's rose bush o bent bow of thorns the cat unsheathes its claws the world turns today today I will not disenchant my twelve black-gowned examiners or bunch my fist in the wind's sneer.

Tonight, the Witch Awakens Tonight, the Witch Returns Tonight, the Souls Forsaken Come back around to watch us burn The morning air is warm, but today's wind brings a chill I can sense the coming storm of vengeance and evil Black leaves on the breeze, a crow ****** in flight And a sanguine shimmer to the gold in the glistening sunrise Tonight, the Witch Awakens Tonight, the Witch Returns Tonight, the Souls Forsaken Come back around to watch us burn The afternoon Infernal, it seems they've all gone mad To chaos doomed eternal, could it be we've all been had? This town is somehow different, a plague across the land You can hear it in the trees, you can feel it in the sand Tonight, the Witch Awakens Tonight, the Witch Returns Tonight, the Souls Forsaken Come back around to watch us burn At Dusk, in desperation, the sun gives up the ghost The spirit of the sorceress descends upon the coast The Wicked and the Innocent - both paralyzed in fear Children of her enemies, your judgment day is here!
