Humanity i love you because you would rather black the boots of success than enquire whose soul dangles from his watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both parties and because you unflinchingly applaud all songs containing the words country home and mother when sung at the old howard Humanity i love you because when you’re hard up you pawn your intelligence to buy a drink and when you’re flush pride keeps you from the pawn shop and because you are continually committing nuisances but more especially in your own house Humanity i love you because you are perpetually putting the secret of life in your pants and forgetting it’s there and sitting down on it and because you are forever making poems in the lap of death Humanity i hate you

Humanity I Love You
Even sunflowers need the rain to grow Like recycling scar tissue you refuse to show Like holding the words to a cookbook containing the recipe for disaster Like the blood of an open wound placed by the whip of an unruly master Even sunflowers need the rain to grow Like when you finally learn the meaning of you reap what you sow Like a magnificent sand castle washed away by the sea All the sand becomes one and denies the right to be free Even sunflowers need the rain to grow Like the sting from the phrase I told you so Like a deer caught in headlights frozen dead in it's tracks Like gazing the stars if we could just climb the smoke stacks Even sunflowers need the rain to grow Like excluding truth from what you think you know Like playing life in a game of poker, and the *** is everything but cheap Karma has the high hand, face up, read'em and weep Even sunflowers need the rain to grow Like running through red lights because all you want is to go Like a jack of all trades who can't fix his own heart Like the tortoise that took off before the race even start Even sunflowers need the rain to grow Like a hundred oars and no arms to row

Sunflowers
My head, my heart, they are empty, producing, containing nothing. Yet, they are stuffed to the max, flooding with thoughts, emotions, worries, hopes. How can one be so empty, yet so full? I am a ghost existing, alive and dead in this twisted world. They drain us of vitality and fill us with emptiness. We are the lost. Don’t bother looking for us, we are already gone, found.

Filled With Emptiness
He has taken rake and shovel in hand, Taking advantage of the light, Rare in these climes this time of year, Still welcomed, though rendered severe By the sun's reluctant trudge above the horizon, The type which, sauntering through a window pane (Falling upon a crucifix anchored above a cradle Or some ancient, gilded frame Containing a photo of some grandparent's wedding day, Exploding into full undifferentiated diffusion) May possess a dram of warmth, albeit resigned, nostalgic A bittersweet reminder of what has gone by (And in the shade, the air is filled With the portentous chill of what lies a few months hence) But there nonetheless as he tends to those final farewells From the trees bowing to December's inevitability, The droppings not the Pollock-esque bursts of October (Those having been collected and consigned To the normal corner of the back lot) But dreary brown-hued things, not welcomed by eye nor heart, Simply corralled perfunctorily and dismissed. One could contend that such activity is unnecessary, The mere vanity of all endeavor, As the snow will come soon, and steady as well, Performing the seasonal, cyclical function in its own time, But he soldiers on nonetheless, a unseen one-act nearly-farce, Painstakingly raking and bending and scraping To leave his patch of green uncovered for a little while Until the locking time comes to seal the earth's secrets once more, To be revealed to those Who shall receive the teasing ministrations Of the fickle, fitful March equinox.

The landlord rented his space. The landlord became suspicious. He received complaints from other tenants, Within a couple of weeks about loud music And laughter coming from her room. Banned from having friends in their home, People would arrive in a van nightly during the summer. The details of which emerged in the trial of insurance businessman, Who was accused of helping her, Without their knowledge. She accused the abuse after a plea. His mercy, Her punishment. ‘The past is still very much a reality’ she whimpered. Forced to watch for five months, The wolf spoke as she faced the hearing Without a translator. They are forbidden to speak. For her first 23 years, she was tortured. Anti-social behaviour is having more than two people in his head, Playing music so loud, That it can be heard, Outside of him. The only person to feel the same resigned. The landlord asked the hound to verify the affair. He handed two leather-bound volumes containing a map of the marks. It was on that day, The landlord took the decision to leave seriously. Once known, He made the claim and gave no hint as to the tenant’s identity. Up for a chance to win, We wish you safe travels.

8. Render Loyalty
Tiny hands barely able to hold a bottle, now drink out of one, containing toxins. Tiny ears that used to hear bad words and coo, now spit them like wildfire. Tiny mouths that would be forced to take icky medicine, now pop pills and insert drugs into their being. Tiny eyes looking at life as a breeze,no cares in the world, now turn into eyes that crave attention but don’t care what we have to do to get it We are spoiling the pure bodies we once had. People are sleeping around, when I remember the worst thing you could do is hand-hold. We take the things we had as kids, and ruin them. We honestly take the cuteness and turn it into ... well that's for you to decide. You pick if your morals are guided with a compass, or thrown away like garbage. Who am i to judge? But I've also learned, these days,My darling.. This is adolescence.

Adolescence
From the ashes I descend, Rising among the flames, As shades of red. Orange and yellow, Blend within the explosion, Of my rebirth, Claiming my life force once more. My deep hazel eyes, Drenched in golden brown, Surrounded by a burst of jade, Speckled with dark green, Reveal my humility, Compassion and genuine kindness, Allowing you to behold, The window to my soul. The vessel, Containing my spirit, Conflicts with the feminine demeanor, Exposing sincerity, Comforting hands of a care-giver, The voice of loyalty, Gently escaping lips, Tears of empathy, Seeping with understanding, Kisses of affection, As soft spoken words, Depict desires, Hopes and the warmth, Of pure love. Mystery envelops my origin, Becoming a mystical being, With the ability to heal, The potential to inspire, Living proof of an alleged myth, Yielding in protection, As my plethora of feathers, Shield the individuals I adore, From darkness, Attempting to swallow the light, We yearn to discover. Blind Thoughts of denial, Shall forsake your eyes, If you pass judgment, Upon me, For my cloak of skin, Concealing my true beauty. As a Phoenix, I refuse to watch, The children of diversity, Suffer degradation, Living in fear of discrimination, Stifling the right to love another, To dress in garments, That correlate the body with the mind. I shall rage to cease, The hands of violence leaving bruises, Ignorance stripping, Breaths of air from a pair of lungs, As homophobia, Transphobia, and intolerance, Deplete individuality from a heart, Deserving liberty, The pursuit of happiness, A chance to survive. The Earth returns my soul, To reap the love, Concealed in assumptions, And sow acceptance into, The fields of society, As I continue, To soar into a cerulean sky.

Having observed others and containing the self consciousness of a noticer (do other people look at me the way I look at them?) she would dress in old borrowed clothing that smelled like other peoples’ laundry and leather because secretly she wanted to wear the other people try them on and she had this wrinkle between each brow that made her look just sort of worried no matter how she tried to press and smooth that wrinkle down with her thumb and in very private moments she’d stare at her features in the mirror with a sort of curiosity because she’d been told by leering men that she was beautiful but sometimes she saw only features: Nose eyes mouth all in pretty good proportion sure but she supposed the thing that held her curiosity was not her face itself but rather the disconnect between the face and the universe of thought behind it and all this she’d marveled at a very young age as ma would see her staring at herself in front of the bathroom mirror or in store windows and tell her not to be so vain kid to hurry along And so she feared writing about her own vulnerable beauty for fear that she might be both of those things—vulnerable and beautiful. Instead she would take an hour long train ride, fake-dozing so as not to be ticketed, walk anonymous between busy persons until she reached a place that satisfied her Washington Square park, perhaps, or some small playground on the lower east side, or down by water or the hip corner shops in Brooklyn. And there, in strangers, she would find her vulnerable beauty, and there with the aid of a pen they became her and she became them.

Spooky Poets
Moored to the same ring: The hour, the darkness and I, Our compasses hooded like falcons. Now the memory of you comes aching in With a wash of broken bits which never left port In which once we planned voyages, They come knocking like hearts asking: What departures on this tide? Breath of land, warm breath, You tighten the cold around the navel, Though all shores but the first have been foreign, And the first was not home until left behind. Our choice is ours but we have not made it, Containing as it does, our destination Circled with loss as with coral, and A destination only until attained. I have left you my hope to remember me by, Though now there is little resemblance. At this moment I could believe in no change, The mast perpetually Vacillating between the same constellations, The night never withdrawing its dark virtue >From the harbor shaped as a heart, The sea pulsing as a heart, The sky vaulted as a heart, Where I know the light will shatter like a cry Above a discovery: "Emptiness. Emptiness! Look!" Look. This is the morning.

in 1992, a child is born and handed a gift. he opens the box labelled "life" and examines its contents. a blanket hand-stitched with hope, perseverance, and comfort draped over a teddy bear stuffed with fearful nightmares, and heartache. a blue jar labelled "sadness", containing fluttering butterflies symbolizing joy. a ticket for the rollercoaster he's finally tall enough to ride, with no warning of the endless ups and downs. that two-minute rush of adrenaline followed by hours of motion sickness. this child is now twenty six. he is staring at the empty box labelled "life" - at the worn-out blanket lying next to the teddy bear's stuffing - at the shards of blue glass and butterfly corpses - at the torn up carnival ticket. he regrets ever accepting this gift. - v.m

Moisture permeates the air, a wet haze. Stillness with anticipation, or tension. Fresh air containing an aroma. Natural and earthly, Like giving into original temptation. Through the fog she awaits my consumption. Her taste lovely, like if love had a flavor. An oozing box of sweet glaze, stands within a wet haze.

Ignorance is bliss, really, more like Stupidity. an aspect, benefiting a person, like cold sore, irritating, an annoyance, peevish to your life. Face it, honey, you’re as fake, as your personality. You’re plastic, I could melt you, if I truly desired, setting a lighted match, to your artificial body. Please, take some advice, lay off the make-up, you look like a clown, maybe a ********** Tanning is acceptable, but looking dark orange, is outrageous. There is no need to look, like you just rolled in bag of Doritos, that’s Snooki’s Job. There is more to life, besides appearances, waking up like P. Diddy, sweet heart, don’t like be Kesha, it’s ****** Partying is enjoyable, but not necessary every night, consisting of drinking, frat boys, jocks, pretty boys, saying “oh my god”, or “I broke a nail”, and precarious *** I know you were raised with Barbies, but you don’t have to be one. Barbie is a piece of plastic, containing no originality, with an unfeasible body, and isn’t real, much like yourself. Stop with the act, no one wants to be, around a person, who is often intoxicated, narcissistic, and a ditzy ***** You can be a girly girl, but be genuine, stop being a follower, if everyone jumps off a bridge, then you’ll be splattered, upon the ground with them, no use to anyone. My words are probably useless, going right through the holes, of yours ears, attached to the plastic head of yours. Anyways, I tried, as excruciating as it was, to reach out to you, who are living this life, of alleged greatness, more like a travesty, in my eyes. Hopefully, you’ll change, wake up from this social stupor, become yourself, regain your individuality, and cease to be, a Barbie doll.

You, with your supple and brown leather I, with my gaze fixed on my father’s pocket You, peeking out from its corner like a Child playing hide and seek in a desolate ally I, like the kidnapper, keeping an eye on your Fragile movements, waiting for you to stumble Into a dark corner and into my sinister embrace So that I could get my ransom inside you, the Little green strips of paper you contained Toys, chocolates and kites my father wouldn’t get me. You, with your expensive sheen, attracting me To yourself like a gold ring attracting an eagle Only to disappear as soon as my father left For work and you, containing an enigmatic exchange For little candies the definition of bliss to six year old me. I, with my naïve mind thinking why I would get less Candies and goodies when you would be frail And devoid of those thin green leaves. You, in the possession of my elder brother now I, eight year old me, wondering if your gauntness Made my father a dear departed. You, I didn’t unravel the enigma of your long Green leaves until I was thirteen and you Resided in the back pocket of the Khaki trousers My brother used to wear, Now Tattered just like your old unkempt skin. Dear Old Wallet, my dead father’s wallet I liked you better when you were fat and fit, Supple and shiny, brimming with coins and green leaves. And when I  was unaware, little and innocent thinking You were a miracle for I only wanted toys back then only to realize I need a lot more For I am now cold,  fatherless and bankrupt But you are empty and thin, just like my Dying mother.

Among the mountains and oceans we claimed, Environments we no longer know, Starvation from the knowledge lacked. Strange men of unknown origin push us away With feathered spears and their spirits Flying above us like the angels we seek. The spread of our culture like margarine Angers the earth it's ancestors tread on; War and thievery. Disease and infection Was wildfire in a land containing no such Immunities to the harshness. First cities died as infants, stillborns Of history and freedom, yet They survived in their determination.

Our Land (obstacles)
and when i hear your voice it's colored in the most beautiful shade of pink with a shimmer of a dark forest green containing a few silver sparkles and when i look at you i see a wonderful shape of dark red dust mixed with dark blue and purple fragments and it's the kind of dust that makes everybody looking at you smile and when i think of you all these small parts become one and it's a beautiful sky of stars made of colors and i realise that i really like the colors just as i really like you

synesthesia
she loved the rain the splitter splatter sound every drop makes were music to her ears she loved the thunder the ferocity of its roar gave her the strength to hold on for awhile more she loved the lightning the beauty of each stroke containing the lethal power to hurt and **** yet remain in inexplicable beauty in short she loved thunderstorms a mixture of rain thunder and lightning just like her inner conflict of thoughts and emotional turmoil she compared herself to thunderstorms not that she was a beauty but she believed that it depicted the words she wanted to say she loved them so much she chose to die on the day there was a thunderstorm outside pouring out things she never said.

Thunderstorms.
The farthest man made object in space, Voyager 1, is over 20 billion km away from Earth. On board is a phonograph record, brilliant gold, containing sounds and images of what life is like on earth, A message to whoever is able to listen, a literal shot in the dark. On it is an inscription that is perhaps the most beautiful sentence I have ever read TO THE MAKERS OF MUSIC ALL TIMES ALL WORLDS a time capsule, a gift, from us To anywhere and everywhere A hundred years from now or a thousand Our belief that no matter what time Or world you belong to, melody and harmony and rhythm, can bring us together, can communicate. On the cover Are figures, explaining how to operate this record Hieroglyphics from what by then Would be ancient history Messages in binary, the 1s and 0s Our position in the universe marked by our distances from gigantic pulsars, the star map to our home, the creators of this message There's beauty in this marriage of math and art Code and music As a way to communicate with the universe. Some of the images on the record are the most beautifully simple ones, Of us, humans, drinking and eating, laughing, of animals, nature, food and architecture. Then there are images of our scientific observations, mathematical calculations, our discoveries, Like a child showing off Look, look what I can do! Black and white and in colour, Pictures, proof that we, indeed have lived and achieved. The music, classical, our very best from Bach and Mozart to Blind Willie Johnson's Dark was the Night. But all of this can only matter, can come to fruition if someone exists to receive it, and is evolved enough to comprehend what it means. But that's the thing, everybody knows, That's there's a slim chance of this record ever being heard, and it's much more possible that the Voyager will simply end up as floating debris in the cosmos, but it doesn't matter! We just want someone to know that there was a species of bipedal, intelligent animals on this blue planet, no different than finding graffiti in alleys that read I WAS HERE. WE WERE HERE, WE EXISTED. And it's all about that hope, the hope that someone will see us, our pictures, listen to our languages, our greetings, our music, and remember us, even after we're long gone. Or perhaps we will one day be interstellar space faring people as well, following the path of the Voyager, doing what we do best, Explore.

<> **”To dream by the oak and awake by the sea when August has ripened and turned Jubilee you must enter dominion of summer's delight and live in the rapture of candescent light Oh to live and to love one must first learn to kiss,   the kinetics of summer, with eternal bliss.”** ~from vienna bombardieri’s poem, “Kinetics Of Summer~ (with her kind permission) <> First verse pinpoints accurate, this, my spot! by oak and sea, my precise longitude and latitude, where my summertime eyes open to receive the gift of morning’s light, observing the conjunction of land, hard by the sea, the land-ed avian gentry and sea~sailor birds interacting, sharing the uprising currents, for sport and observation, travel and pleasured sailing, these “Masters of the Sky can fly for hours (or days), while barely flapping,” and this verse stuns, and my shock, at these, her words my breathing is gasped and grasped by oak and sea, for so it be, this is where my morning’s operatic scrum, ballet and dance hall hullabaloo, my diurnal natural choreography is performed, while slow sipping my very heated first coffee it was here that I learned to love more easily, for the kinetics of summers trio of sun, sky, and moderate breezes, lulled the turbulence of my disheartened lives into an easier order, the world~surround, a living, breathing exercise that warmed the spirit, cooled the soul, and spoke without uttering a single word, here dear person, is the where and the when, the comfort of the natural-blanket that enwraps, covers, cherishes the atmosphere entire, containing the healing elixirs and protective ointments, that remove the plaque of life’s accumulated injuries, slights and scar tissue simply put, here I breath freely, here I see with clarity here the infusions of living in nature, prolongs, restore, remind, enliven and enhances, the intermixture of body and soul here in actual deed, the kiss of summer bliss upon my tiring cell’s walls, are resurrected even unto the nuclei, by the warm breath of sun life and sun light, and the breezes of salty sweet caramel air and under their loving, combined-dominion am I resurrected and will yet sense, one more Jubilee again as I lay dreaming by the oak and the sea…
