Trade,Globalization,Terrorism and Corruption What's the difference? Each of us look at the world with open eyes yet with closed minds. We see the structures of society right before us yet we can do nothing to alter its existence Marxism, Liberalism, Elitism, lenses that see a point but not the whole picture The age of politics is over, the market comes to be our master I know some might argue over me in this, but hear me out still. The world we live in is like a senseless commodity Our natural resources is taken every day To create excess cars, excess food, excess everything The surplus is too much that its overflowing with decay Another thing is war, A place where precious lives are seen to be walking bags of meat. The preach for violence that could've created peace, and for what ? To protect the free world? where the rich sit in high places and some of us pushed down to supply their greed Globalization is a license, a license to what? A license to **** a license to invade other states without the use of soldiers to force out our will We become docile as people in their wake and companies are laughing as we speak. These corrupt figures ,conflict is their business, opportunity and peace is their excuse. Human integration is what they say and offer, for a better society they say. But look at us now, where is the promise of a future in the world today? The world terrorizes me, terrorizes the people who are willing to see and if I am in terror, what makes the system different from the loud bombs we hear when they explode. They only made ways to make the killings silent and the experience more traumatic. I'm sorry if globalization is a bad thing for me, but living in our country, globalization harms before it can give it takes before we can receive.

Social media companies Swear it's you they want to please They badly want for you to see That they value privacy And that there are several strictures On who can see your posts and pictures. You think your profile is secure You're satisfied until you hear That they sell your information To advertising corporations. Every post that you've spent time on pictures, videos you had your eye on They save it all for using later And say "It's ONLY metadata!" They as good as have a list Of content that you can't resist And knowing full well what you like With custom ads they duly strike! They desperately want you to keep scrolling So they can see the money roll in. And their ethics will be forfeited So advertisers can be profited.

Establish a research and development facility tasked with recycling 100,000 commonly used household goods or packaged products back into the original base material needed to remake it into new product packaging. Pass legislation requiring all companies selling products with packaging to buy their source materials from a registered public-private venture allowing any firm willing to participate to do so. Companies must then manufacture packaging locally using source materials supplied by one of the public-private companies. Companies will also be required to hire locally using a diversity and economic income model incorporating or locating the participating companies in the poorest rural counties in the state. Society grows great when Old Men plant trees.  -Socrates

Nobody marching toward us Their guns making us die. No tanks are come clanking No bombers in the sky. But our Congress and generals When oil or bases seem needed; We appear armed and threatening Peace and love talk not heeded. No country has attacked us With troops and lethal artillery. But our leaders expect us to Go open up their arteries And **** their women and children And laugh while they all die And we are expected to do this And never think to ask why. It’s almost like big companies Were sad when WW2 ended So they started attacking countries We really should have befriended. We let Russia have free reign To **** and ****** and steal Almost as if their aggression Wasn’t really true or even real. We looked around and made them, Those evil old warlike excuses, That some country threatened freedom And we pretended they weren’t ruses. We attacked Korea and Vietnam We were just supposed to observe That they were yellow people there And think they got what they deserved. We didn’t stop there, as Reagan took A duly elected leader and put him in jail. If any country did that to our country The conservatives would howl and rail. Then the Bushes tried their best to take Iraq to steal their oil and punish them And created an era of stronger hatred And anti-American outrage and mayhem. No foreign country has attacked America; So, the point bears repeating once again. We need to stop acting like bullies here And start acting like decent statesmen And women who have the bigger picture; The growth of peace in our battered world So, other countries will not take their guns And shoot our flag when it’s unfurled.

Well great goodness, where on Earth do I start? The Garden of Eden  … or the bottom of my heart? How can I make this as honest and heartfelt as I can? How would I share with every woman in the world, the emotions of every man? Yes, we hold them in. It's about pride. It's about standing tough. But you'd really not have us any other way … you love to polish what's rough. And we really love you, make no mistake, to you we are forever beholden. We'll not forget those meals and those band aides and all those clothes gently folden. You taught us to tie our shoes and look after our sisters and brothers. And that unless we are standing for something correct, we must always be kind to others. From you we learned that women are our partners, other halves and mothers-to-be. Which leads my poem in another direction … as I continue my praises with glee. Our wives took up where our mothers left off and carry our hearts in their hands. They made us soup when sick, bore us amazing children and walked beside us in the sand. They undressed us when drunk, both for fun and when it was needed. And stood understanding when we failed miserably, as their warnings went blindly unheeded. No matter our place in failure, glory or fame, they were always standing by our side. No matter our outfit, five o'clock shadow, even our beer belly … they always stand there with pride. And in the brave new age, where we all live, they now do things so amazing. They race cars, cure diseases, head up companies and set many trails a blazing! What would we do without these women from our birth to our end of days? How do we love them, now and forever? You simply can't count the ways!

I’m unemployed And old enough to realize That’s just not cool, While kids around me Friends of friends of parent's kids, Are working their way Into small names at big companies, And it’s my job to clap for them, To make them feel success At selling out young, While I give in all I have All I’ve ever wanted To live a dream Worth chasing pennies for Because I love the way They click when they fall into My piggy bank.

Some win awards. Some win recognition. Then some barely recognized for their effort and time. Some hardly ever late. Some dedicated more than many bosses. Who take it upon themselves to take multiple vacation? The good employee that others measure themselves by. Rain, sleet or show , you're most likely see them at work. Some takes pride just in working to accomplish an agenda. They probably wouldn't strike even, if in a union. Some has came in present time to regret being a members. When they don't see any accomplishable gains from their leaders. Good employees, don't fake an excuse to miss work. Good employees, know all jobs depends upon a team. A mission is set to be met. Those that mainly complains has minor points. Which soon becomes a distraction in the level of work. Oh, good employees has complaints too. In reality, we all do to some degree. Except, good employees all companies need. They make the weakest link becomes a member of a strong team.

"The Malaysian fashion industry has huge potential as it is currently ranked in the top five in the ASEAN fashion industry." In the short story, "The Rocking-Horse Winner" written by D.H. Lawrence, the young boy, Paul, associates luck with wealth and bets large amounts of money on the soon-to-be winning horses. His family is extremely wealthy but can barely afford to keep up to their title. What is one thing that society does not know yet the children do about the mother? They know that their mother does not love her own children. She gives them everything they need and want except for one thing. And that one thing they do need is love. One knows love by the look in their eyes. It is much more difficult to lie with eyes than with words and actions. She is materialistic and adores money and extravagance. I think we all agree that the mother is oblivious to her situation. How are we not like the mother? The truth is, we are exactly like the mother. She doesn't realize that love is not a number, money or products but that love is looking into one's eyes and showing true affection. We are in complete illusion that wealth leads to happiness. We think the same thoughts when the more we have, the more successful we may be however in reality, it is false. A perfect example is Black Friday. Companies, businesses and customers all decided to cut the Thanksgiving holiday to purchase more "stuff" to make them "happy". They decided to cut the time to spend with family, friends and relatives to spend for themselves and others. Who is the villain in the story? Most believe villains are a something or a someone who prevents the "good guy" from achieving their goal, also known as an antagonist, however the villain in this story cannot be seen, touched, smelled or even tasted. It can only be spoken and heard of. It is an imaginative villain. It is merely the manipulation of the mind of the misconception that luck is associated with wealth. This begins the entire issue with obsession and materialism. I'm sure we all agree that luck is something that happens to you without you possibly deserving or expecting it. But what is luck when others are given it? For example, if a random stranger gives your friend $100, another $1,000, but gave you only $20. Would you still feel lucky? Well, in all honesty it all depends on our circumstances, which then determine our values. Shouldn't it be reversed where our values determine our circumstances? In the end, over the many years of bets and deference, Paul has been riding his rocking horse to find the true winner and to find luck.

Orange capsules of condensed vitamin C Tumble out onto my cracked, Outstretched palm, As I arch my spine towards the bathroom sink, Scooping lukewarm water from the faucet Into my half closed mouth- The tiny pills clog my upturned throat: Just two of the numerous solutions To a world too numb To contest. I've never felt more alive, Than when I'm drowning my body With handfuls of tap water And magic remedies bottled up and Marketed to a world Afraid of growing old. Lining the wall of local drug stores, One isle over from office supplies And scented laundry detergent. Multicolored, multipurpose- Labels proclaim the fountain of youth To anyone alive enough to fear it. There's never enough of reality To reach our depleted veins Through the ever present forms Of the world. Enough isn't Enough, until we've convoluted it into a tiny Plastic oval, and forced it down the throats Of those well enough to swallow it. Pharmaceutical companies proclaim their Daily gospel in the linoleum streets Of hospital waiting rooms And local grocery stores, As I cross my heart and count the Hours until my next prescribed dose Of complacency. Who knew happiness Could have the bitter after taste of Vitamin B or The credibility of Zoloft. The sandman has been replaced by Benadryl, While creativity lies stagnant Beneath adderall's indifferent thumb. Obsession is a 26 letter alphabet, Strung together by a bunch of deficiencies, Incoherently droning on To the burden of Man, And flickering neon light Of a drive-thru pharmacy.

They said there was a drought water was short not enough for domestic use. At first declaring it was nobody's fault it had not rained for a long time! Committing an offence by using a hose pipe truthfully was a load of tripe. Water companies are making a financial killing everyone encouraged not to waste water. More fancy gadgets the public would be willing to buy water use multiplied. As the buzz was building more on any land telling us there was a demand! Thousands of houses built was there a big need statistics only the government held. Groups tried protesting for it not to proceed but fields were still built on. Heavy rains came with more depleted drainage so did the despair and rage. A state of increasing taxes with nothing to show more became classed as poor. Communication with voters becoming very slow the authorities had a strangle hold! As the ban on a non existent drought dragged on more doubters joined the throng! Was there a danger of a growing national threat from people against the elite. Basking in luxury as the masses increasing in debt the drought added more fuel. Restrictions taking away their dignity it turned sour there would be a defining hour. Or is this just a modern nightmare tale? The Foureyed Poet.

Drought!
Take a look At this decade's eternal light. Youth, beauty, happiness. In theory. Is that how it was for our parents? Top tags on this website #depression #suicide #heartbreak Are grandma's photo albums fairytales Or has something changed Without shame Unmarked blame Just a change Perseverance died At the doorstep of sarcastic self-deprecation, Cool-to-be-lame facades, Glorified depression, growing vines on glowing laptop walls With a generation, fetal position, ripped jeans and eyeliner, inside Self proclaimed **** If you say it first Those twisted lips of others Won't press on such a fresh wound And here we lose the metaphor Cut yourself So everyone else Is picking at scabs No one would hurt another Who hurts themselves Unless they're an *** So the words are silenced Are you stronger? Happier? Healthier? And so we can always be safe In our self loathing Until puppy eyes and perfect pictures Leave us hungry Hurt by the people who don't mind being ***** Gaining assets, stealing rights from under Our droopy dismal noses snapshot Caption: **** up, let down, repeat. Hate me. -politicians and companies will bash your head on rock bottom Looking up in disbelief at chemical burns from Big Mac's We'll look back down to pout about our pain. The only way to save ourselves? Perseverance Positivity Hope Though I conveyed none of those emotions in this poem. **** me. I'm a hypocrite. But my point still stands. Perhaps even stronger.

I'm Scared, Scarred, and Scrooge-like
At Bookshop Santa Cruz I look at a book about the East Bay then and now One picture strikes me: 1969 Sproul Plaza Govener Ronald Reagan has the National Guard spray tear gas on protesters on the steps of this Berkeley Administration Building People run in black and white they look like my parents The helicopter is so close to the ground, like the Vietnam War I was three In the backseat of our VW Bug My mother was driving me to Strawberry Canyon for a swim Then she got scared--something on the radio We turned around I didn't understand She had to protect us from tear gas We lived in a war zone Everyone was very upset We were attacked by our own government Even children were fair game An innocent frog is placed in water If the water temperature is raised gradually the frog will sit there until it dies In 1980 Ronald Reagan became our President Much to our dismay "70% of pollution comes from trees" he had announced as Governer, he was obviously a man of science The vice grip clenched, the water temperature raised as we felt around us the world becoming more difficult as a middle class we were supposed to wait for crumbs to fall from the table of the rich folks fighting over the bits like starving animals Budgets were cut Prices rose, wages fell or disappeared completely We were at war 1985: I took a class in Economics in college, a UC I learned that Supply Side Economics was a silly idea written on a napkin at a fancy restaurant where the fat ones eat and the crumbs are thrown away It was all a sham An excuse The vice grip tightened, the world became more difficult not the American Dream my parents grew up in To be middle class was to struggle and struggle and still not have anything The frog began to die Somehow we saw that Reagan drifted away, but his ghost remained, a respite in the 90's Then we were at war again Not just tear gas, but carpet bombing Guerilla warfare in the streets of a hot arid country Oil companies, already saturating our ground and our air with their products Cashed in The frog is near death We struggle, and nothing gets better Only a respite At a fancy restaurant on a napkin someone wrote a new theory of Economics that became like Scientology Outgrew it's ridiculous inception And became real Ronald Reagan dropped tear gas from helicopters on Sproul Plaza and it drifted to Strawberry Canyon where children learned to swim But that is child's play now the frog is about to die I want to pull it out.
