The peacock has a score of eyes, With which he cannot see; The cod-fish has a silent sound, However that may be; No dandelions tell the time, Although they turn to clocks; Cat's-cradle does not hold the cat, Nor foxglove fit the fox.

This is some ****in’ great Producttttttttt, ohhhhh, mannnnnnn Mr. Speaker, why is there a shortage Of Product in the province, Mr. Speaker, Not worried about the stocks of cod if we Can get stocks of Product, Mr. Speaker And if the shipment from the mainland stalls They’ll beam us some Product from Muskrat Falls

My phone clamped to my ear, Listening to you think. We were punning. (We would combine categories like ‘The Royal Mail’ and ‘Sea Life’, And come up with things like Octo-post and Cod-espondence.) That night it was ‘Crockery’ and ‘Celebrities’. You thought of Plate Moss And Camilla Parker Bowl.

Freezing dusk is closing Like a slow trap of steel On trees and roads and hills and all That can no longer feel. But the carp is in its depth Like a planet in its heaven. And the badger in its bedding Like a loaf in the oven. And the butterfly in its mummy Like a viol in its case. And the owl in its feathers Like a doll in its lace. Freezing dusk has tightened Like a nut ******* tight On the starry aeroplane Of the soaring night. But the trout is in its hole Like a chuckle in a sleeper. The hare strays down the highway Like a root going deeper. The snail is dry in the outhouse Like a seed in a sunflower. The owl is pale on the gatepost Like a clock on its tower. Moonlight freezes the shaggy world Like a mammoth of ice - The past and the future Are the jaws of a steel vice. But the cod is in the tide-rip Like a key in a purse. The deer are on the bare-blown hill Like smiles on a nurse. The flies are behind the plaster Like the lost score of a jig. Sparrows are in the ivy-clump Like money in a pig. Such a frost The flimsy moon Has lost her wits. A star falls. The sweating farmers Turn in their sleep Like oxen on spits.

What sort of lean-to is habitat to your humanity? Is it an apartment, bungalow, flat , or a cozy cape cod or perhaps a suburban ranch? What sort of lean-to provides those inches and flames that shield you from hypothermia and death? Is it a Georgian Mansion by the sea or cardboard boxes stacked beneath the interchange on the far side of town? (How many lack even that)? What sort of lean-to's will suffice to shelter the family of man? December, 2013

My god is love Your god is God I know it sounds odd I wish to be cod That swim through your veins Until I go insane Invading your mind So I may know your kind I have to tip my hat When you say the world is flat And I shift into a stiffer constitution When you say you don't believe in evolution My love is strictly fundamental Our differences infinitesimal I cannot deny This temptation inside This inflation of mine I want to walk with you like Jesus If in that moment you could freeze us I'd believe forever Through any endeavor That two gods were merged And true odds were purged My life would be surged Into perfection By a reception Love is a fabled fraud on the scene Until I find a god in the machine You heretically hide in between Fields of green and wet dreams Your smile takes me there To realize we're no pair So I become Cthulhu In order to fool you When you're the giant squid And I'm just a kid If I want to be caught in your tendrils I'll have to work on my fundamentals I dream of Athena After you make Cupid look stupid While holding a noose With the power of Zeus But I still want more To hammer like Thor Yet after all my plotting I'm still frozen like Skadi When I face a titanic task I wear a panicked mask Obtaining a reluctant martyr's luck When my emotions run hot as **** I face the wrath of god Inside your cattle **** So I wait like the Buddha Wishing I never knew ya

I woke up from a dream, in which I met an old lady, who was such a ***** My grandson, who is two ate fish fingers from a plate, as he sat in the luggage rack at the front of the bus. The old lady got off chuntering and muttering, that he shouldn't be eating fingers made out of fish, as he was sat on the bus. ****** woman picked them of and stole them straight from his plate, Muttering, that it was disgusting eating fish fingers while sat on the bus. "Listen here mate, that's wholly inappropriate", said I. Somehow resisting the urge to punch her in the eye. I cursed and cussed and I gave her my worst. While my grandson, just sat still on the bus, still a little bemused He's not used to old lady's pinching his food. She got off the bus, after facing my daggers, just looks, as I don't often cook. She had the audacity to steal his tea, apart from bits of verbal conflict, got off ****** scot free she did. My grandson, he just looked up at me, after squishing the remnants into my knee. My most expensive rain coat is now in need of washing. I'm wondering now who'll be fitting the bill. My heart melting grandson looked straight into my eyes. At the end of this story, he's the perfect prize. But he's still a little hungry, as she stole his fish fingers. And this silly bit of prose is just a pack of silly lies. Made up as the result of a dream, I just had. Here's hoping you enjoyed my tale. It's pouring with rain and blowing a gale. Probably the noise it drew me from sleep. The times when dreams are prevalent. When fantasy from dreams be inventive and put to wholly good use. (c)Livvi

Black, Swiss cheese hulk on horizon The James Longstreet immobile old freighter of the bay Towed to the ignominy of its last commission in the curled arm of The Cape Tides flex their muscles against it But The Longstreet is steadfast in its dark purpose Standing target for practice A sortie if planes home in on its bulk Honing their skills on this “fish-in-a-barrel” Thunderhead-etched pyrotechnics Booming follows the miles over water Against The Longstreet’s silhouette enduring even God fixes sights firing bolts across its bow taking aim at our futures Standing targets for practice Vietnam? All the Latinas are sitting together. All of the Asians are sitting together. All of the Middle Easterns are sitting together. The whites are everywhere in the room. I am sitting next to the Latinas, Behind the Middle Easterns and in front of a black dude. A Puerto Rican is wearing a hat saying "Reckless". I am wearing a hat saying, "Cape Cod". OR The Child Is Father Of The Man, But Not For Quite A While So Thomas Edison Never drank his medicine; So Blackstone and Hoyle Refused cod-liver oil; So Sir Thomas Malory Never heard of a calory; So the Earl of Lennox Murdered Rizzio without the aid of vitamins or calisthenox; So Socrates and Plato Ate dessert without finishing their potato; So spinach was too spinachy For Leonardo da Vinaci; Well, it's all immaterial, So eat your nice cereal, And if you want to name your ration, First go get a reputation.

Lines To Be Embroidered On A Bib
The fisherman’s swapping a yarn for a yarn Under the hand of the village barber, And her in the angle of house and barn His deep-sea dory has found a harbor. At anchor she rides the sunny sod As full to the gunnel of flowers growing As ever she turned her home with cod From George’s bank when winds were blowing. And I judge from that elysian freight That all they ask is rougher weather, And dory and master will sail by fate To seek the Happy Isles together.

A man he wrote the book A book for all and none About a life spent leaning Leaning towards the sun In search of all a greatness  His life a distant run A battle for a giant He reaches for the sun On a field of giants Merely flesh and blood He disregards the mismatch And stretches for the sun Life the fiercest battle A war that’s never won Commits his life to reaching Reaching for the sun He asks the aged pastor     Disillusioned as the nun Confides in self and marches on Onward towards the sun Saw life and fortune a lady Took a chance with love Traded breast and beauty Traded it for the sun His only life a sacrifice A gamble for a goal With faith and strength he pushes on He strains his empty soul Tried to be a good man Emulates Christ the son Grounded broken wings he ***** Tragically towards the sun To advance the course of history Alexander, Caesar, the *** A martyr for the western world He reaches for the sun To hold the mighty leviathan With gear to catch a cod Born with a head of a ******* He aspires to be a god And oh his quest does beckon Failure certain done What else can he do He reaches for the sun To god he clings his anchor Sworn service to God and Son Hopelessly he leans Leaning towards the son

Leaning Towards the Sun
This is the desk I sit at and this is the desk where I love you too much and this is the typewriter that sits before me where yesterday only your body sat before me with its shoulders gathered in like a Greek chorus, with its tongue like a king making up rules as he goes, with its tongue quite openly like a cat lapping milk, with its tongue -- both of us coiled in its slippery life. That was yesterday, that day. That was the day of your tongue, your tongue that came from your lips, two openers, half animals, half birds caught in the doorway of your heart. That was the day I followed the king's rules, passing by your red veins and your blue veins, my hands down the backbone, down quick like a firepole, hands between legs where you display your inner knowledge, where diamond mines are buried and come forth to bury, come forth more sudden than some reconstructed city. It is complete within seconds, that monument. The blood runs underground yet brings forth a tower. A multitude should gather for such an edifice. For a miracle one stands in line and throws confetti. Surely The Press is here looking for headlines. Surely someone should carry a banner on the sidewalk. If a bridge is constructed doesn't the mayor cut a ribbon? If a phenomenon arrives shouldn't the Magi come bearing gifts? Yesterday was the day I bore gifts for your gift and came from the valley to meet you on the pavement. That was yesterday, that day. That was the day of your face, your face after love, close to the pillow, a lullaby. Half asleep beside me letting the old fashioned rocker stop, our breath became one, became a child-breath together, while my fingers drew little o's on your shut eyes, while my fingers drew little smiles on your mouth, while I drew I LOVE YOU on your chest and its drummer and whispered, "Wake up!" and you mumbled in your sleep, "Sh. We're driving to Cape Cod. We're heading for the Bourne Bridge. We're circling the Bourne Circle." Bourne! Then I knew you in your dream and prayed of our time that I would be pierced and you would take root in me and that I might bring forth your born, might bear the you or the ghost of you in my little household. Yesterday I did not want to be borrowed but this is the typewriter that sits before me and love is where yesterday is at.

It had been one of those enervating days, when officialdom and red tape paperwork had ****** the yolk and marrow leaving only a dullness that yawed the ghost ship of her frame. She decided not to cook, as much as payback for her ordeal by proper channels. And so to the "Toilet Bar", cafe of choice for malicious villagers, though rarely women. The men folk hardly stared upon her entrance, by now they knew those leopard skin boots, that packed a wallop they grudgingly took stock of, then returned to their cheese and wine. This was her quarter of salt cod with cream, prepared by owner Paula and daughter Carolina, the only other women tolerated amongst the chairs, that smelled of tar and testosterone. Lacking collars three tumbled to the stony street, drunken mechanic, one armed plumber, peg-legged sailor, the kerfuffle amusing her, their wicked aunt. Another Lagoan night that shimmered out to sea.

The albatross once filled the skies Cormorants watched silent, from the shore These are echoes of times long ago There's nothing here for them any more The coastline littered with sunken ships Villages full of ghosts Empty buildings and empty lives Where just the sea gulls act as hosts Oceans away lads, Oceans away Out past the breakers and out to the sea Oceans away lads, Oceans away Out on the Ocean, where my soul is set free The cod stocks have dwindled There was no need to stay There's no catch of the day, son From here to Gaspe' The canneries shuttered The landscape has changed I may be a sailor But, my life's rearranged Oceans away lads, Oceans away Out past the breakers and out to the sea Oceans away lads, Oceans away Out on the Ocean, where my soul is set free The Grand Banks are empty Our boats are in hock There's nothing that grows here Except depression and rock While others moved onward I'll stay 'till I'm dead Now, I feed off the tourists I work the casinos instead Oceans away lads, Oceans away Out past the breakers and out to the sea Oceans away lads, Oceans away Out on the Ocean, where my soul is set free The salt air still calls me The wind in my sails The sound of the rigging Heading off to Kinsale The coastline is empty Where Ghost towns now stand It used to be vibrant But now just sea grass and sand Oceans Away Lads, Oceans Away On out past the breakers, and out to the see Oceans away lads, Oceans Away I still am a sailor, and I always will be

I remember what we used to be Swinging and climbing up every tree That time when everyone would go outside just to play tag Now all we got is 8 year old kids complaining about too much lag And all those ballin' teenagers saying 'We got so much swag' Now one of the only things you see Is teen girls selling out virginity 25$ at one time you could've almost caught a taxi ride from here to Tennessee I feel sorry for the next generation Swag ballin' COD players running this nation Now just give me one second of concentration heavy intake of breath Sorry, all the violence in the world has sent my mind through so much rehabilitation I realized everything we thought was right was wrong Simple math, it shouldn't have taken us this long But it doesn't matter cause everyone's taking a hit from the nearest **** These geniuses go and call others ******** Thanks, we're all mentally unstable and needed an excuse to be carted To the nearest funeral home Cause no one ever put us under loves dome Ding ding ding we have a winner Obviously the one without a ring on their finger Forever alone because others see them as a sinner When all they're trying to do is get another night's dinner 22 years from now we'll all be middle aged Stuck in a job wanting to be uncaged The worlds resources steadily going down the drain An we're all stuck on a one way train To hell or up above That's when you wish you'd just been born a dove Life's quite tough don't be late It seems today is quite an important date Though you've already come so far One day you'll be crying in a bar Thinking about your past when it was so easy Every day the wind was cool and breezy And you were swinging and climbing up every tree I remember what it used to be
