#*Can it love you like God loves you, with a love that is better than life? Can it connect you to eternal beauty? Can it save you? Can it redeem you?  Can it lift you out of the miry pit? Can it make you clean enough to finally feel acceptable? Can it delight your soul to the core? Can it take your breath away with its faithfulness to you? Can it paint both sunrise and sunset across the sky to beckon your attention? Can it cause the breeze to blow and gently caress your cheeks? Can it send hummingbirds and wildflowers across your path to romance your heart? Can it parade before you the starry host and call them each by name? Can it probe you to the depths and fill you with itself? Can it rush to your aid riding on the wings of the wind? Can it satisfy your hunger and thirst with bountiful things? Can it give to you feet like a deer that you might dance upon the heights? Can it arrange every detail of your life to draw you and drive you to itself? Can it pursue you with all the resources of the universe? Can it know you through and through and still desire you? Can it raise you up and seat you in the heavenly realms and bless you with every spiritual blessing? Can it supply your every need out of its glorious riches? Can its grace be sufficient for you and its mercy help you in your greatest temptation? Can it pour overflowing comfort into you through all of your troubles? Can it reach down to draw you out of deep waters? Can it set you on an unshakable foundation? Can it bound across the mountains to come to your rescue? Can it make you lie down in green pastures and lead you beside still waters? Can it walk with you through the darkest wilderness and never leave you or forsake you? Can it carry you when you are weak or have fallen? Can it let you rest between its shoulders when you are weary or burdened? Can it escort you to heaven’s banqueting table and spread its banner of love over you? Can it hide you in the shelter of its wing? Can it be your daily portion and immerse you in the boundlessness of itself? Can it clothe you in robes of righteousness and garments of salvation?  Can it give to you praise in exchange for mourning? Can it bestow on you a crown of beauty for ashes? Can it turn your wailing into dancing? Can it flood you with peace like a river? Can it fill your heart with joy in the worst of afflictions? Can it know the way to lead you home? Can it refine you in its fire and bring you forth as gold?  Can it capture you fully even as it sets you fully free? Can it ever truly be your Everything?*#

#*I saw a path and ran ahead I nearly lost my way Your mercy caught me by the arm To Your side You bid me stay I put my hope in my own plans Which soon around me fell You stopped me short upon that road And said, "Rest and all will be well." I'd surrendered all, but to my foe Enticed into the briars You turned his evil schemes instead Into refining fires I couldn't see my helplessness Until my legs were broken Till Shepherd's hands caressed my wounds And healing words were spoken You picked me up and carried me And made me feel Your favorite You held my head against Your chest Until I grew to savor it You tended me with gentlest touch Then soothed all thought of fears You sang forgiveness over me And washed away my tears There is no one like You, Lord On whom I can rely In loss, in danger or attack You hear this poor sheep's cry It's You Who keeps me from real harm Who watches my coming and going You shield me with Your strong right hand From darts the enemy keeps throwing You said to all who trust in You You would give perfect peace Enough for mind and heart to rest To let all worrying cease So, Lord, I trust You with my life Your Shepherd's heart is pure Your purpose for me's guarded well And Your deliverance is sure Please teach this sheep, Lord, how to wait And strengthen me to stand To put my hope in Your desires And to love Your sovereign plan You lead me into fields so green Where streams of life are flowing Where healing winds blow oft' and strong And choicest fruits are growing You set me free to hear Your voice To follow at Your call And even through the dark, cold nights I'll know You've arranged it all Yes, storms will come with battering rains With hail and gusts and thunder But these are meant to beckon me To Your wings to pull me under For it's in the darkness of the storm My grip's most apt to tighten And when my heart beats next to Yours All earthly burdens lighten*#

*Lord, let them see me as a fool If only You’ll undo me Take pride and self and rights away But beckon me come to Thee If failing is what humbles me If falling is what breaks me Then let me fall and fail and faint Just come, possess and take me You are the One my soul desires There is none other for me So bring the storms, the trials, the woes For in those best I know Thee You see the pain my heart requires To mold and make me like Thee So send the fires which please You most I will not fear what strikes me I trust Your goodness and Your grace They shall not ever fail me You hide my life safe in Your grasp Though hell’s worst fiends assail me You’ve chosen me as Your own child A treasure ‘cause You found me You’ve named me Your beloved bride With glory You’ll soon crown me!*

Fly, Dragonfly, fly! Spread your wings and flex your tail take off to the skies, follow the blowing winds! Leave behind the Wicked Men of Hollowing Trail and escape the poisons of their worded sins Fly, Dragonfly, fly! Race, Dragonfly, race! Sweep your wings back against the windy skies Let your heart propel your spirited sprint faster! Faster! Escape from the Forest of Unnerving Lies and the creatures of the Lost Souled ******** Race, Dragonfly, race! Hunt, Dragonfly, hunt! Beat your wings to the sounds of the butterflies Feed your hunger for protecting the meek with the haunting taste of Honey-Soaked Flies and the sting of Sugar-Coated Bees Hunt, Dragonfly, hunt! Rest, Dragonfly, rest! Allow the venom to still your beatful wings Let the swift death claim a Hero's life Beckon the Raven of Heaven to blissfully sing to the tune of the Stalking Sparrow's whistling knife Rest, Dragonfly, rest!

Fly, Dragonfly
The church field trip led to the most beautiful presence, The elegance protrude by the sweet scent. I dared not moved so hastily, I dared not the red! Glanced by the peripheral eye lids, The red beckoned the thumping beats within my chest! A visual decor permeates from the illuminating of the perfect circle, And my inner most demon want to ravage it! I wanted to devour every essense of the crescent, Becoming one with red. I slightly move forward so no eyes may pry onto my movement, Like an orchestra moved to one trumpet to a violin scurry along. Finally came side by side of the precious glimmer of the curves, And moved my hand to palm the red's grace on the tilt of it's end. I open wide to cusp my mouth to bite deep into it's brilliance, In my teeth feeling the liquid and crunchy of it's body! Sour taste of salt expand a vigor of darkness cover my mouth, I look at the apple's plate beneath me read " Ida Red!" Water upon my eyes, No longer can chew any further, I simply shallowed the chunk in my throat!   "Your elegance beckon me red, but in the end, you have seduced me to bitterness!" I dared, Idared, ida red!

You are the city I am trying to get back into nature. Your bright lights beckon me back- But your pollution is killing me City officials refuse to address the problem Even when I write up a petition and policy to highlight the issues- I am ignored. There are natural bright lights in nature - the ones I miss- life with fresh air is positivity. It's my fault I allowed the city to become polluted.

White-furred hill flowers bow Gust-bent, Wet in April snow, Lavender beneath their Downy coats. Tender soldiers of spring Grasp wind-blown gravel steeps, Stand to beckon brown grass, Soft-call the life in sapless trees To ring with green again Against Old Bully Winter’s Blustering. Quaking aspens, Earliest to leaf in yellow-green, Curling grama grasses, Tough food for buffalo, Cannot boast first life each Montana spring; Only zombie-lichens, Rock-fast mosses Throw off winter’s death Before the crocus' rise. On eastern Montana hills No street-hemmed dandelions Colonize in chute-dropped ranks; No time-tamed tulips Live on wind-round knolls. Here, the yucca’s bayonet-sharp ****** Here, the wild onions’ scent-strong hold; But these arrive after early chill, Following the purple crocus on the hill.

He still lives with demons that once held him tenderly when no one would be able to find the words to say that fill the glass as it is tipped back and slowly emptied of the liquor that stirs memories from the headwind that blew the lovers' hair back on the drive through autumn windy, windy mountain paths as another Queen song plays on the radio and the raindrops on the windshield tap along with fingertips against the steering wheel to Freddy Mercury and shared heartbeats. The truth is he is lying there like an open wound as he begins to measure self-worth with texting tempo and memories of last summer being too hot to cuddle with one another though it was more than enough to hold feet under the thin sheets that remember the glass once again filling with words as another drink is emptied and his head burst through clouds leaving him to hydroplane through windy, windy mountain paths as the raindrops on the windshield applaud with the demons that beckon tenderly for his return.

It was my thirtieth year to heaven Woke to my hearing from harbour and neighbour wood And the mussel pooled and the heron Priested shore The morning beckon With water praying and call of seagull and rook And the knock of sailing boats on the net webbed wall Myself to set foot That second In the still sleeping town and set forth. My birthday began with the water- Birds and the birds of the winged trees flying my name Above the farms and the white horses And I rose In rainy autumn And walked abroad in a shower of all my days. High tide and the heron dived when I took the road Over the border And the gates Of the town closed as the town awoke. A springful of larks in a rolling Cloud and the roadside bushes brimming with whistling Blackbirds and the sun of October Summery On the hill's shoulder, Here were fond climates and sweet singers suddenly Come in the morning where I wandered and listened To the rain wringing Wind blow cold In the wood faraway under me. Pale rain over the dwindling harbour And over the sea wet church the size of a snail With its horns through mist and the castle Brown as owls But all the gardens Of spring and summer were blooming in the tall tales Beyond the border and under the lark full cloud. There could I marvel My birthday Away but the weather turned around. It turned away from the blithe country And down the other air and the blue altered sky Streamed again a wonder of summer With apples Pears and red currants And I saw in the turning so clearly a child's Forgotten mornings when he walked with his mother Through the parables Of sun light And the legends of the green chapels And the twice told fields of infancy That his tears burned my cheeks and his heart moved in mine. These were the woods the river and sea Where a boy In the listening Summertime of the dead whispered the truth of his joy To the trees and the stones and the fish in the tide. And the mystery Sang alive Still in the water and singingbirds. And there could I marvel my birthday Away but the weather turned around. And the true Joy of the long dead child sang burning In the sun. It was my thirtieth Year to heaven stood there then in the summer noon Though the town below lay leaved with October blood. O may my heart's truth Still be sung On this high hill in a year's turning.

Heaven holds no paradise that I've not found in your embrace. No golden hue, divine device- Heaven holds no paradise, to beckon me look even twice. No glory there to match your face. Heaven holds no paradise that I've not found in your embrace.

I. Neptune’s Theater A rock spins through the universal tumbler and its warm blue pools calcify as turquoise Neptune in his cloudy blue bath bath builds a lace castle with his fingertips Sculpts a submerged eden of crimson and emerald where painted parrots chat up cardinals butterfly and angel fry sway with wave pulse and foliated coral fingers beckon from arched windows. Neptune’s children are flat and bright, spined and notched free yet entangled in lace mesh ecosystem beneath an array of bioluminescent stars as a gangly pretender watches and blows bubbles. II. Sapien Siege The hot acidic hand of death grasps the mesh rends and tangles the ecosystem shattered reef’s loosed children scream beneath planet’s stars. Butterflies impaled cyanide-swooning damsels mesh-tangled angels hauled heavenward coral to potash, corpses to coal. The pretender to the throne blinks rubs blurry lenses, kicks plastic fins and moves on to the next show Unseeing and unaware of the luminous filament in his wake. Self-appointed divinity, deus ex machina. ******************************************************************************************* Ann says: All of the animal and human characters in this poem (except Neptune and The Pretender) are named after coral reef fish. Coral reefs, one of the most diverse ecosystems, are expected to be largely extinct within one human generation. Deus ex machina is Latin for “God from the machine.” Copyright 2013 by Ann Marcaida.

Children of the Reef
I'll beckon the flames to rise again, Brush off the dust that infests. Temperature growing with my breathing, I want every spec of darkness within. Show me the being you hide inside, Sadistic and thirsty for pleasure pleading. Destroy the rage inside my soul, Dissect what's left for you to soil. I'll bow my head in understanding, Lick my lips as you **** me. This labyrinth of love inspires me, Hide and seek in fields of flowers... They say the itch will go away, I'm raw from anticipation. Come quickly into my embrace, It's really the safest place. Destroy the rage inside my soul, Burn all that was ever soiled. I'll bow my head in understanding, Scream out loud as you **** me.

Did you lay me down on a bed of nails and expect me to surrender my all ? I felt the waves wash over and they engulfed all that was good Dragging me down lower than I have ever fallen freely I wanted a lover But you entwined your darkness into my light No one heard the screams The midnight hour so haunting A chill lay in place of your heart You looked straight through me just before you leapt Head first into oblivion I just stood motionless for what seemed like a million years Then I turntable and left The memory is hollow But it is memory all the same I beckon you here But not so that I can surrender to your will But so that I can show you the truth in all things good You may shy away Hide in those self created shadows of misery But I will  lay waiting Just past midnight The chill and silence deafen my soul My love I beg I beg I'm falling I'm sitting within your oblivion Surrounded by creatures not of this world Demons reign and I fear the fall I turn I always turn You may leap into the hollowness of oblivion But I fear it's clutches I fear the hand of love So turn tail and return To the moment before midnight The moment just before The memory lingers And the strike of twelve is never heard

life is full of searching searching for someone who appreciates you, who understands each deep thought that fills your mind and holds your hand even when those thoughts are unclear we search for light in dark places, hoping that things aren’t truly as grim as they appear to be we search for time and consequently waste it in the process so often we spend days and months and years searching for something we think will steady our hearts step back and take a moment to inhale and exhale with eyes closed, and the one thing that will bring forth pure joy will become clear, it will stand out and beckon for your attention you then have a choice: either pretend you can find a light more satisfying and continue to search blindly for something that will never appear, or look at the love and hope you’ve found, and put your faith and trust in the most brilliant light you’ll ever see why would you keep searching for stars in the shadows when there’s already a sun shining in your sky?

Seasons pass, tempered by insalubrious fervor; treasonous design remiss of fate An echo of prior songs resonate somber atrophy; mourn the passing of  constant defeat, stained by triumphant dissonance and disdain Fear strides along the broken path, left alone and solemn and crass: Through sour feats of vindication, tones of plight become dismissed Surfeit, the sound of temptation rides upon the crest of dawn, blinding darkness like calming waves caressing infinite stretches of sand: soft and warm; kind and welcoming, embracing in its gentle touch Sentience hides behind a creeping fog, whispering secrets of life eternal, bearing gifts wrought through sensuous candor Two threads lost, now found; slowly bonding, uniting purpose, rhythm, rhyme, and reason; born from the same cloth, garnering habit, singing in harmony what echoes from within Beautiful, intelligent, staunch with profundity; stark, handsome, wholesome, and good The call of a true home may finally beckon..

So it came to pass at last and sad to know a Timber has fallen It stood in strength tall and strong for over seven decades Resplendently toned it spread an uncompromising foliage Masterly in domain magical in reach attaining untold grades Humble in origins yet grew with endeavour and knowledge Distinguishably it cut sway in tundra and in lush green glades Son of sons of the Land held roots countenancing no crawling It reached for the stars and danced reasons with every shades Ran with the sun and sat with owls and vipers for tutelage Sweeping the very highs and the lows in communal trades In the jungle of sharks and vipers it be known who's in Charge A Timber has fallen while the rains falls and blue clouds fades There's now a mighty hole in the earth and rivers are swollen Leaves scatter and branches beckon hundreds of onward bridges Leaving best Princess, flowers and saplings for love and largesse A notable trunk laid supine free to roam without worldly cages Odes will enter dancing in guises and tears flow without finesse A Timber has fallen and dirges will ring out for a man of all ages Yemessia bows and says Adieu My Senior, we will meet again..... RESPONSIBILITY
Fires ablaze within my eyes, A smile concealing all my lies, Screaming, begging, calling out, A final, frantic, desperate, shout. Scarlet tears drip from each vein, A vehement covet to end this pain, This silver blade, stays by my side, Because all hope inside has died. As each day ends, and darkness draws, The devil toys, with all my flaws, I'm helpless, alone, a worthless mess, A broken child, he must address. I'm tempted when he calls my name, A way out, an escape, an end to shame, To make it feel a lot less real, A deal with the Devil, in blood must I seal. They'll say I died of suicide, But no one knows how much they've lied, It wasn't a rope, a blade, or pills, That broke my soul, and gave me chills. I died inside so long before, To live each day, an endless chore, Pills could not **** what was already dead, A twisted soul of an empty head. I beckon the devil, with the key of self-harm, And I open the door for him, with the blood of my arm.
