#snapping
As people, we bend and we break,
more often than not for the sake
of another.
There’s a reason why bending comes
first,
like the river trailing down to the lake
on a late
summer
night.
The same path winding,
splitting,
running,
flowing,
rushing
in the other direction.
Bending; it bends, twists and curves
all the way.
From one side of the planet
to the other;
break of day.
And I thought lighthouses were
made to stop ships from
sinking.
But the stars and moon are
blinding me
and I can’t see a single thing.
So I just keep on drowning,
drowning,
drowning
in a polluted sea.
The lingering ash and dust
on my fingertips is washed
away by the water.
Yet when I try to resurface,
all I smell and see,
is copper.
Don’t paint my body
with the same shade of black
that everyone else has.
I know it’ll get washed away
by the current.
But I still feel it,
stuck to the strands of my hair
and covering my back.
I’ve studied all these maps
from people who’ve studied water bodies:
how they form,
how they stay,
how they deform,
how they carry
the force of the wind
and the load of a ship;
the ferocity of the beast,
feral as I can be within.
Rippling waves of murky water still reflect
the image of my face.
So at least,
all this bending and breaking
hasn’t gone to waste.

I'm not really violent
Lately though people are pushing my buttons over and over
Stretching me past my breaking point
I barely keep my anger inside from coming out
One more push though and I think I'll blow up
One more push and snap
I'm so fed up
So don't push me please because I'm close to blowing

Woke up in a dream under asphalt trees
soaked in the sap of the sweltering city
wearing these old rat rags
and sneering at the concrete
Greyscale mindset stitched into my sleeve
This town'll fuckin' **** ya
and drop a coin on your grave
dig your way up to the daylight
and hang on to your *****
Waking up
Snapping out.
It's not so easy, is it?
Waking up and snapping out...
The barge is afloat on the sidewalk streams
Burns in the summer, ******* doused in Spring
the bums puke in corners
children ***** in the alleys
Sinking hulks. "Abandon ship!" on the galleys
These waves'll ******* **** ya
and pull you down in the deep
this dream ain't worth waking for
But we can't get to sleep.
