We spoke of flowers and sunsets [We spoke of] sunrises and cucumbers in the summer We spoke of [garments and those under?] We spoke of… [water? & (the?) unawares] We spoke of candy & sugar & turnovers We spoke of The Universe We spoke of [the utmost] undermining & overwhelming [of things] We spoke of the [most] instantaneous Of guilty pleasures And that Life takes time; Most times… And that while you wait— You’re missing it; Missing the point The[/that?] point A to point B Is the least of your worries And it makes you wonder Not the “whys” of it all, But the particular ice-cream Is God’s favourite. ©2025EllenFinn

We Spoke Of
From your lips Poetry never sounded so good Rolled off your tongue And into the air And I breathed it in A high like no other From just words

Poetry From Someone Dear
Write about what makes you happy Write about what makes you sad Write about everything you think of Even if it makes you mad Write about the good times And write about the bad Write about the days you were younger And how it makes you laugh Write about the things you wanted Write about the things you had Write about the the ones you loved Write about the ones you wish you never had Then read your book out loud when it’s all said and done You realize that your life wasn’t that bad And that someone out there still thinks you’re Number One

Wait, please
Sometimes I wonder if you'll end up hurting me emotionally like all the other's did before you Maybe it will be silent but fast or be dragged out to the point where my heart is broken I'm feeling like I'm in a daze that I never truly can escape from Or someone else might take you away from me Either way, just close my heart in a glass case and if worse comes to worse and you find yourself wanting to break it into bigger pieces than the ocean Then take the last days of our love and make me feel loved and dare I say cherished one last time But be sure to give me closure don't open the door and slam it in my face without telling me why I beg of you please don't make me cry about how much I regret letting you into the point of no return Don't make me associate your name with salty wet tears And wishing I had never let you in

Unspoken Thoughts
My hearts beats against my ribs in rage, screaming don't lock me up in this cage, I'm in too much pain. These tears are all the same they take no fault or anger for my emotional complaints. I'm not a devil nor a saint. You promised you'd one but you never came. I think out loud who's really to blame for making me beautiful in my pain.

Think outloud
He weeps his heart, and hangs his head, He doubles back, and follows her back to bed, She says, " Some homes are towns and lives, while others wear their homes inside." And he keeps up though he's kept out, the volatile, the sudden frown. She makes up the cupcakes but they're never vegan are they? No they're never vegan are they? He makes a gift, and wrings his thumbs, the bubble bath, the tepid tub, Outside where the rains have gone long, something gives him something strong, And he picks up where he had left off, the trouble is he doesn't know when to back off, and the cupcakes aren't vegan, sweet and such spectacular, but they really aren't eaten, now that they've been made with eggs. No the cupcakes aren't vegan, though they are quite delicious. And he loves her forever, though he never eats again. No he never eats again. No he never eats again.

The Cupcakes Aren't Vegan, At Least I Don't Think They Are
