#infectious
the whole week,
reinvigorated dreams
of isolation in old workplaces,
ringing phones with encrypted,
urgent measures to be transmitted.
but I have no ones number,
no one to tell
school final exams, for a course
I did not take, in language
unintelligible
the cash machine states
my bank balance is $9,736,890.00.
so I check again,
the machine speaks:
DO NOT MOVE
THE POLICE WILL ARRIVE MOMENTARILY
So Wrote Poem, While waiting,
ridiculous stressful situations,
give me no respite, awake to feel
my body cloaked & soaked,
this has been going on for days,
no one asks me why I always
daytime napping
for fear, I might tell them,
and there is no vaccine
that protects one from someone transmitting
infectious night terrors

Infectious!
by Hafiz aka Hafez
loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch
I became infected with happiness tonight
as I wandered idly, singing in the starlight.
Now I'm wonderfully contagious—
so kiss me!

your love stung,
the last time
i tried to
hold it tight
perhaps it was
poisoned by past lovers
and they've forgotten
to hand you the antidote
or maybe,
you've wrapped it
with sharp thorns;
like a wild garden
unexplored and afraid
to be trampled on
whatever it is,
it's spreading to me;
but i could tell
it's from the time
you broke my heart

If I die of the Plauge
I would want to be remembered
Not as a victim
But as a healthy
And happy
If I die of Ebola
I would want to be remembered
Not as a victim
But as a beautiful
And diligent girl
Who created art.
If I die of rabies
I would want to be remembered
Not as an aggressive victim
But someone
Who brings compassion
And kindness.

When she smiles
Everyone around her
Glows a little brighter

Ever more will I weave daisy chains from your laughter.

In your picture I saw
Thought you were looking at me
An infectious smile sans flaw
Is what I could still see
My lips widened mocking your smile
Tears rolled out of eyes too in the while
And then I realized
You are no more.
May your soul rest in peace, I pray.
If there is heaven, may you there, stay
I pray...I pray.

The way I love you is infectious
it is more than pen and ink
staining my fingertips from
forcing words
I dare not speak
It is the way my face uncontrollably
lightens
my heart endlessly sinks
with each syllable of
your name
