In the night, you're born anew,
A guiding light on endless blue.
A dream to hold, a wish afar,
A fleeting hope, a shooting star.
And when I’m lost, I look for you.
I know the truth, it cannot hide,
Like heaven and earth, we can’t collide.
Yet still I gaze with longing eyes,
Upon the sparkling midnight skies,
Afraid you might drift out of view.
The salty taste upon the sea,
Bears witness to this pain in me.
It feels as though a treasure rare,
Sinks deeper than my heart can bear,
Lost within the murky blue.
And still you shine, silent, aware,
Unmoved by love to my despair.
You are the sky – so vast, so free,
Belonging not to earth nor sea,
While I am bound to dreams of you.

Intro:
Lost beneath the blackened skies,
The sea consumes my weary cries.
No shore in sight, no hand to hold,
Just endless waves, both deep and cold.
Verse 1:
The sea grows restless, winds now rise,
A tempest brews, the waves collide.
I hold on tight to brave the sway,
And pray that I will find my way.
Chorus 1:
And when I search the skies above,
For the stars that light the sea,
I feel them always shining there,
Softly guiding me.
They fill the void inside my heart
With warmth beyond compare.
A wondrous view within the dark,
My sparkling galaxy.
Verse 2:
The winds grow quiet, the storm has passed,
The sea lies still in peace at last.
The view’s so calm, yet stirs my ache,
A restless heart the night can’t break.
Chorus 2:
And when I search the skies above,
For the stars that light the sea,
I see them shining far away,
Their light calls out to me.
They fill the void inside my heart
With love I can't convey.
A wondrous dream I’ll never reach,
My distant galaxy.
Verse 3:
Oh stars, I call, do you hear my plea?
Why stay so far, yet shine for me?
I’d give my all to hold you close,
Your love is what I crave the most.
Bridge:
But I know deep down they can't reply,
Their beauty’s silent in the sky.
So near they seem, yet worlds apart,
A distant love that breaks my heart.
Chorus 3:
And when I search the skies above,
For the stars that light the sea,
I know they're always shining there,
Softly guiding me.
They’ll always shine, though never mine,
With warmth, with love, with care.
And so I rest my heart tonight,
Beneath the galaxy.

The first solution was to leave my name behind.
Venture forth nameless and light the way divine.
Walk forth through the shadow veils.
Let your soul set its light sail.
Let the winds of truth take you past the expanse of shadow.
Let the lost ones see your lantern in the lost meadow.
Become the balefire that lights their map home.
Put an end to their aimless roam.

Will I ever reach you
when there are tides surging and sweeping anything in between?
Have you seen something on these stair steps winding within?
Wild-eyed hope scurry into the woods of the night to heed the call,
wasted so many years growing up to find nothing beyond these walls.
I falter hearing blood and friends are in their ways broken, but all I do is listen and pretend to understand,
decipher encrypted messages of fate engraved in their calloused hands.
We are spent being rogue satellites looking for a sign of life,
fledgling wanderers cut by thorns through age made contrite.
When time plucks us out of the tree I’m hoping to pop up somewhere where the sun is free,
unlike this place where the end is only thing guaranteed.
And you and I laugh about it, a reprieve from crying out of sight,
so we hide behind comforting lies,
for the hurt is in the try.
It’s hard to own a face
in a confined and crowded space,
quietly we must go
and in time, leave without a trace.
Yet, though there are waves between us, let me know when you find a beacon guiding you back to the shore,
that unseen in the great unknown, there is much left unexplored.

...being a beacon for darkness
...being a deacon of evil
...seeing no evil regardless
...seeing honesty as a hurtle
...restating unholy responses
...restating there'll be no upheaval
...ruling with no conscience
...ruling different for different people
...playing your god against us
...playing yourself in the process
...knowing none of it is real
...knowing if it is your going to hell

it was sweet like grandma’s dessert after dinner
made me comfortable like a bonfire
it was the dream I had envisioned but soon a nightmare
my intuition was singing to me like canaries in trees
warning me of the soon to be
two passing ships, we shared our hearts and got drunk off of lust
never meant to last, we were just enough for each other until it began to rust
knew you weren’t going to be my last, silence filling the room
you moved and I moved on without telling you
you sensed my indecision and had a vision
I wasn’t yours and you weren’t mine
but once upon a time, we shared ties

Gazing at you this morning, your face was pale and your body appeared Fragile;
This brought tears to my heart!
Not long ago, you were full of energy, looking vibrant with life; so Beautiful!
Your smile was soft, your scent was delightful.
Without you,
Life won't be the same;
Fall will be long, winters will be cold and empty!
You are my beacon of peace, love, and inspiration!
I will miss you,
Yet, I will be waiting for you
At the corner of love and hope, to see you bloom once again with such life.
Enchanting me with the joy and beauty you bring.
The chance to admire you will be absolute bliss!

Numbing chill
Amongst the gale
Ice cold breath
Trembling still
Heart be lost
Buried in snow
-
Tundras melt
Icebergs weep
Fingerlike rays
Warm on skin
Breath of life
Thaws a heart
Found by a beacon

And he believed
and found the magic in me
Then flew me into his floral wonderland
He held my hand
and lit the torch
The hope I’d use to light
the darkness of my thoughts
A bright beacon to tame my beast
A gardener unafraid to touch my heart of thorns

The Divide
by Michael R. Burch
The sea was not salt the first tide ...
was man born to sorrow that first day,
the moon a pale beacon across the Divide,
the brighter for longing, an object denied,
the tug at his heart's pink, bourgeoning clay?
The sea was not salt the first tide ...
but grew bitter, bitter ... man's torrents supplied.
The bride of their longing forever astray,
her shield a cold beacon across the Divide,
flashing pale signals: "Decide. Decide.
Choose me, or His Brightness, I will not stay."
The sea was not salt the first tide ...
imploring her, ebbing: "Abide, abide."
The silver fish flash there, the manatees gray.
The moon, a pale beacon across the Divide,
has taught us to seek Love's concealed side:
the dark face of longing, the poets say.
The sea was not salt the first tide ...
the moon a pale beacon across the Divide.
NOTE: "The Divide" is essentially a villanelle despite the non-formal line breaks.

Remain humble and kind
always let your light shine.
Like a beacon of hope
to those wary, lost souls
on the hunt for a lamp
to light their barren path.
setting each step aglow
out of desolation.

On a cold and lonely day with a hint of a breeze
The red metal box alone and lonely started to freeze
Would someone need him today he thought
A lovers tiff, an angry couple who'd just fought
A well placed word on parchment or better still
A poem from the heart to elicit a thrill
Night and day, day and night
the postbox remained resolute hoping to see the light

I am scared to die.
i know you wont be waiting for me anymore.
i miss you with every atom in my body.
I am a goddess atop a mountain, yet
unlike a goddess,
I am a coward.

Don’t let the medium dry
Moisten This Creation
by ANY MEANS necessary
It’s vulnerable
For This Creation to become pedestal WE MUST :
feed it
off of a capillary bag
mist it
under a dense healthy breath
lead it
to suckle an engorged breast
For
IF WE DO NOT
we risk it becoming husk ;
good only for digs and dust shops.
For This Creation, WE MUST queue
with our blood tapped
and ready
our breeding fluids
our various flows carefully labelled
and in sterile pouches
our donor cards filled out
steady for sacrifice
Keep This Creation wet
and it shall be a beacon
a call to awareness
a beckon of craft for us all
and not some common art-hole
In time THE CREATION SHALL SERVE US

I love lighthouses;
Lonely, desolate, cold
Grown out of rocky outcrops
Designed by monolithic architects,
Where only ascetic souls can call home
Their light, a beacon in the darkness
To protect sailors from the smouldering sea,
And all her whiles and trickery
One lonely light, that shines out
Like faith, like hope, like love
So mariners will not plot a course
Into the shallow depths of death,
Book a room in Davy Jones’ Locker.

Dream away!
You’ll be happier,
Live healthier,
Feel empowered,
Yearn for a better tomorrow!
Choose your dream,
Ignite your inner light,
Embrace purpose,
Be a beacon of inspiration!
Live out your dream,
Establish goals,
Realize your great accomplishments,
Attain a sense of fulfillment!
Sustain your dream with thoughts,
Nurture it with intelligent planning!
Guard its growth with sweat and tears,
Give it a humane touch with a caring heart!

If you are lost in the darkness
look for a beacon
let her light guide you home
when you arrive at your destination
you'll realize
you were never really lost at all.

I haunt the shadows of your thoughts
My nails rip from their beds
clawing sanity
just trying to climb out of
my feelings
my fight leaves breadcrumbs
but light causes shadows
even in the brightest smile
and while I prefer the shade
...or used to
I churn to life in that place where
my ebb meets your flow
****
You haunt the shadows of my thoughts
You run non-stop
floating on surface tension
knowing the pit is hollow
...it just seemed easier that way
My kindness
as comforting as it is cruel
in the shadows behind a smile
that blinds me
...beautifully
It feels like magic
where your ebb meets my flow
Float on that surface tension
I'll wait in the hollow
It's hard to move when we
neither run nor chase

Support to the brighter soldiers....
"Making America Great Again.."
It's not a statement... it's a way to a new life...
From living one like a has-been.
Never throw your hands up...
Energy needs to surge
Before you throw your guts...
All over in fear's purge,
"You need to stay strong.."
It's automatic....
We unite as one....
Victory Becomes
The beacon of vision
Through t.v screens full of static.
