Ordinary Gods
Apr 20 Apr 27, 2026Attention is where love actually lives. This week we practice looking longer — at the room, the stranger, the thing we keep walking past.
Write about something you look past every day.

I am never proud of myself
So I ignore the good
And live the bad.

That thing that face that man I find in my place, full of aches and pains of each and every sort day after day he fades as if racing to the final page in the story of who I am who I was who I let try no more.

you—
quiet, constant
i look past it
like it’s nothing
like you’re not
woven into my days
i don’t say it
i just let it sit
but it’s everything
i never say

Old, cracked leather
Bound to vellum written life
Pages older than the youth
Glued to screens and colors galore.

I look past at my happy childhood,
With laughter, little tears and lots of joy.

I look past the quiet
the void in the room
that makes me so gloom
I fill it with shouts and laughter in the air but is it true because its there
but if I take away
the shouts and laughter
all around you will hear
the silent screams
of no sounds(Sneak peek Acc R3NNZZ)

Inner beauty, so hard to find
Even when searching, often we're blind
But if you really try to see
You may recognize lights in you and me

There is so much beauty to a rural landscape- but damn. There’s also a lot of junk

Daily challenges come.
But as much as I say.
Tomorrow I will speak to none of you men.
But I daily look past these wrongs.
Hoping for change to come

I look through to the
World
I look through to my
World
The sun and light and dark all look
Through her
She cares so deeply
She begs to be seen
I have seen her
Most have not thought
She was distressed
She got hot
She begged she kneeled trembling
Before the world
as the sun looked
through her
You looked through her
You do right now
But when she is bothered
She shakes and wobbles
On hot pavement in the summer
You try to look through
The
Air
That
Dances

The man in the street, his charming smile.
Every day those steps towards him are heavy,
how do I speak?
what do I say?
does he see me?
I look past.

An absence of care
Or an ignorant mind
One and the same
I think
I can’t decide
How should I know?
I’m just a child

meandering grime,
dust in the air,
unspoken crime,
mind poor to fair,
unable to look.

Everything.
Everything my body said I needed,
but everything I told myself said
anyone else deserved more.

The moment as it is. I look back and I look forward. But most of the time I look right past the here and now.

this blaring alarm
when i wake up for another mundane day
it alerts me bludgeons my day
as i powder on my makeup
finish my homework
and softly weep again
when i return home
with its fluorescent glow
6:07.

Every day I look past my feelings
I look to what I need
I focus on my religion, and ignore feelings for boys
Love to another human is not a risk I'm willing to take
It's an expense I can't afford
Whenever someone asks me to date their friend...
I tell them "no" like I'm annoyed or bored
The only Man I want in my life right now is the Lord.

The threshold
In the morning when I leave
In the evening when I return
It gets my best
It gets my worst
I won't look past it tomorrow
I will ask it to help make my day the best it can be

there are some things
that are easier for me to ignore
than acknowledge
like the older couple down the street
who wave at me every day on my walk to the bus
who's kids haven't visited them in years
or that girl in the hall
who walks with her head down
and doesn't talk ever
or the way that boy
still looks at me
like i'm the only girl in the world
or the way my stepdad stands up for me
every time my mom yells
like i said,
some things are better left unseen

Pots and Pans
A cup or two
'Yucky slimmie dirty
I not a fan
Some covered with water
And leftover sticky crumbs
My today becomes soon
Then everyday is later
Cupboard full of cups
Empty slots the spoons
Must was those dishes
To have pots pans
Clean sink is what I wish.
