But what are they, but mere promises blown away with the wind?* Forever, he said Promises, he made Gone with the setting sun Farewell, he bade Down in flames Up in smoke Rings and letters Oaths they took Nostalgia that hurts Flashbacks that pain Memories that fade Nothing left to gain Broken and battered Shamed and weak Every nook and cranny Her pieces she seeks.
