oh how foolish
the heart can be
to allow a slithering creature
into its atrium so freely
of profound feelings
the snake knew naught
he wrought damage
upon my heart's inner core
his introductory
to my company
was of a charming filigree
all that he voiced
did so beguile
yet none of it
was worthwhile
coldly the reptile
slipped
through the porous membrane
of my heart
and with his cobra venom
sundered
its hearth
