I have decided
I am not naturally
anything good
I am ugly
and imperfect
and untalented
and unnecessary
but
I am not
disheartened
I am the black coal
waiting for the earth
to create a diamond
I am the dinner
not yet fully cooked
or ready to serve
I am the boy
waiting on time
to let me be a
man
