One year ago I went on a trip to Peru
I thought I was going there to help the needy
Turns out I was the one who learned
A lesson or two
About, what's important in life
And just whose, who
Their bright sunshine awakened spirit in my soul
The joyous citizens who had no material gain
Had more hope and love than I have ever sustained
They were thankful for all
From sunshine to rain,
Even vultures were appreciated,
They were tools in their world to help them maintain
They did not even pressure me
To buy their goods
Like we do in America,
In business training, they tell us we should
The trip opened my eyes to appreciate
Everything in life, that I see
It made me realize how blessed I am to be me
I should always thank Our Father
For everything daily and always enjoy my life gaily.
