Imagination is my only friend
On a day like today
When the angels of dawn have come around
Once more to spread their lights
And to remind me that your sweet love
Has suddenly gone astray
Last night it was so peacefully still
When you lay here, right by my side
But this new morning brings much sorrow
And this bitter harsh reality
Surely I can’t abide
Unless my imaginings can paint a vibrant picture
Of a hopeful invigorating tomorrow
And yesterday’s glee I can easily capture
Or somehow borrow
All seems so meaningless and futile now
As I sit here in wretched lonely silence
To reminisce our forgotten love
That was once beautiful and true
And I’m hovering in dark and dreadful spaces
Deprived of passion’s gentle softness
And the blissful heavenly wonder
Of amazing skies of blue
