i have so much left to do
i have to finish cleaning my room
organizing the clutter
putting reason back into
the complete chaos
i have to pass summer school
creating a community
out of those of us
who just want to get through
i have to survive junior year
the notes, the homework, the tests
the random tuesdays
i spend laughing with my friends
i have to graduate
giving a speech
and earning my diploma
just another senior who made it through
i have to move out
escaping the family that hates me
for who i am
finding myself
i have to get married
(or maybe not, who knows)
if i find someone who loves all my sharp edges
who i can grow old with
i have to live my life
even through the darkness
even with the difficult days
even if it's just one step at a time
the next 5 minutes
