why me?
of all the subjects,
why me?
English, history,
science, all ease with
compliance
why me?
rough around the
edges, blind to the
simplicity
why me?
too mute to compute
why math? least favored
least flavored
why math?
English has nice hair,
and even nicer
finger nails
fair skin, Polished
rim to rim
why math?
why me?

This poem is deeply about comparison. The subjects are personified. Speaker places themselves into ‘Math’. Speaker wonders why someone would choose math as their favorite when english is also an option.
Math = speaker
English= the ex girlfriend of speakers current boyfriend
there is a duality in the use of subjects, romantic subjects and school subjects. There is a lot of word play and double meanings i’ve imbedded in this poem. Let me know how you interpret it!
