So there I sit, in the dark, empty hallway. And there he is, wearing a long black coat. The gap closes and so does my airway. He’s still there. He always will be. I close my eyes, but all I see is darkness. I open them. He is gone. He was never there. A cold breath brushes my shoulder. “I’m here,” he whispers gently into my ear. I couldn’t escape. Maybe this was always meant to find me

The thing that stayed
So there I sit, in the dark, empty hallway. And there he is, wearing a long black coat. The gap closes and so does my airway. He’s still there. He always will be. I close my eyes, but all I see is darkness. I open them. He is gone. He was never there. A cold breath brushes my shoulder. “I’m here,” he whispers gently into my ear. I couldn’t escape. Maybe this was always meant to find me
